Needed to remove my Fabia rear bumper. Harvey is always my go to 'You tube Haynes manual'. Brilliant step by step video as always. Thanks again Harvey.
Excellent thanks. Had to remove my Fabia bumper to fit a towbar. I'd never taken a bumper off a car before so this was just what I needed. Very clear instructions and good advice along the way.
My brother and me just buy two exactly Fabias 1.4 Auto so, this video is "double usefull" to install rear parking sensors. Neat and clear explanations, good record. You mate got two new suscriptors.
Thank you so much for your support, very glad to have helped with the parking sensors. I thought about putting some on, but haven't yet due to having the towbar :-)
Hi @HatBoyHarvey , I'm the other brother. Tomorrow morning I will install the parking sensors to my Skoda Fabia. The editing and detail of the video are fabulous, I feel fully convinced to face the task without a doubt.
@@arisskarpetis if installing from new again I think I would paint it from new with hammerite, clean and repeat every few years, but that's easier said than done :-)
Maybe a lanolin based rust proofer? I have been thinking about it for the underside of an old Eriba caravan we got this year. The claims are that lanolin will capillary its way even into micro fissures and also it will stop any existing rust from further developing. Unlike paint which will bubble if you paint over rusty bits. You still have to scrape off loose rust. Worth thinking about it.
Great Thanks for Your videos, these are extremely useful for DIY fans. If I have a problem to fix, then the first thing is to use Your footages. Keep up the good work!
@@HatBoyHarvey Q. I installed a towbar on my Fabia. By the way, a car i bought from a 92 year old woman, driven for only 42000 km. I love it! Back to subject: The towbar has 4 connection bolts. But, the insertable steelbar do not go far enough in to the inner bolts. Is this common, or have I reseved wrong towbar from provider?
It is a while since I put my towbar on and can't remember any difficulty with the bolts. Is there some other bolts further out? Is your towbar made for a mk2? Is the combi any different? Sorry I'm not much help; all I can say is if you think it doesn't fit then contact the firm that supplied it. I'll take min off and do a video sometime. Hope you can get it sorted :-)
@@HatBoyHarvey Thanks for taking time to answer. I contact the company. And please make more videos, you make it bullitproof to get started. Even tho I managed to brake off two of the bits holding the plastic shield behind the backlights. 😂
You're welcome. The hardest part is the seam at the side. If you have never done it before you have to be firm, but controlled and don't pull at it; little at a time is best, UP & OUT. My Coffee is black with a little sugar and fine by me :-)
@@HatBoyHarvey I must say that was preety easy. Even at sides was no problem at all.Of course easy when you know what you must do in corect order. I was install pactronic sensors on rear bumper. My bigest problem was little space between bumper and metal beam. Finally I instal them in this black plastic board and working just fine. So thank you one more time. With yours guides I can do more by myself. Best wishes.
@@szampon010 Great to hear that, I'll have to do the same sometime as sensors are very useful many times when you can't be bothered to turn your head around much :-)
Thanks, my tow bar has seen better days. It is very easy to fit on these as there are no fancy electronics to adapt and you just splice into the existing lamp wiring at one side. I had to cut a couple of notches for the bumper to fit which you don't see (maybe see them in this video?) I'll do a tow-bar video sometime :)
Thank you, nice to hear that. putting together the video was considerably longer than taking off/replacing the bumper which is only a 25 minute job or less, on/off if you know what you are doing. If you have never done it before, take your time and have a brew in-between sun rain and hail!
The bumper wraps around the sides more and I think has 4 more screws underneath, also access to the rear light units are different having the plastic panels in place, but saying all that it is essentially similar.
Going to ask about the Saloon, or the Sedan. Got one with the parking sensors, and it's on a bit crooked after a little bump against a wall, with one of the sensor circles slightly recessed into the plastic mold. Has anyone dismantled the bumper from that version? Asking both Poles and English folk. PL: Czy ktoś miał już doświadczenie w zdjęciu zderzaka tylniego z czujnikami parkowania w sedanie i mógłby się podzielić, jak to mniej więcej wygląda w porównaniu z hatchbackiem czy kombi?
My fabia right now has the problem that on the plastic part of the bumper one of the parking sensors "fell" into the cover. Can you remove the plastic part on the bumber without taking the whole bumper away?
The trim moulding comes off with a series of clips on both edges, better removed from the inside as there is less chance of scratching the bumper, which isn't that hard to remove :-)
They fit the on the hatchback, but the combi is different on the sides. The front will fit with some extra clips if pre-facelift. exhaust cut-out is also an issue ;-)
The bumper on the combi is just a little longer on the sides and I haven't done one, but it looks the same. It maybe has more T25 screws underneath that would be my guess, if different at all. Thanks for watching, hope that helps :-)
For the Combi it is not neccessary to remove the internal plastics showed at the begining. Just remove rear lights (there is one textile cover giving access) and follow the rest of the steps gived by Harvey. I´ve done it in mine in order to install a parking system.
Thanks Iker Diez, appreciate the helpful clarification, I've added that to the comments section. I am wondering if the saloon version is also the same? not many in UK.
" a few spots of rust" hahaha that was as British as it can be, I love it
Glad you recognise the irony :-)

Very clear video thanks! I like how the towbar "looks like it has a few spots of roost" 🤣🤣
Thanks, yes the towbar does get a bit rusty, but it is made of thick heavy duty metal so I'm not worried :-)
