I don't usually take the time to watch a video through to the end but this video was good enough to keep me glued to the screen for more than an hour. Thanks Steve.
Hi mate new subscriber here after watching a few of your vids, i watched some of your vids many years ago and always remembered your channel and forgot to subscribe back then, well i found your channel again and very happy now. Your palmer river trips are my favourite because of the historical past but w.a is always a good producer for metal detecting. Im about to purchase an sdc2300 ive been saving for years for and hope to get into some virgin spots in Queensland im in the process of making it happen now thankyou yout an inspiration to many and me.
I just had to tell you how much I enjoyed your video. You not only hunt for gold but your facts about the wild life and vegetation are very educational. Thank you.
You sure do earn your rewards... Wow, just wow.... And all that wildlife too... very sad to see the 1080 for the dingoes...I wasn't aware that was happening, and can't work out why they need to be destroyed in the absolute outback where they belong... Thanks so much for filming, editing and posting..... Kia ora.....🤠🙂✅👍
Quite a bit of gold finds and interesting lizards and the knowlege of different ones. It makes quite interesting and keeping my attention on your adventures. Stay Safe!
Sir I thoroughly enjoyed this production also. Beautifully filmed and well deserved gold. Really appreciate your respect for nature. You are a good honest prospector. Thanks heaps for sharing 👍
I haven't prospected for some time now dew to an injury. You have bought great memories back and I would love to get out again. I have not found gold like that. Your description is very professional and clear as well. Loved watching. From Melbourne.
Thanks for your excellent video. Great shots of WA and the wildlife and mineral potential. Really enjoyed it. Keep up the good work. Cheers, happy prospecting.
Absolutely marvelous! What beautiful gold nuggets! You've done an excellent job of filming/editing your prospecting adventures! Keep up the good entertaining and honest work. Much appreciated to watch from here in British Columbia Canada!
Hi Steve, well done on your finds and thank you a lot for putting this wonderful film together. Here in the UK I'm dreaming and planning a 30 day trip over the water your way, and if I do bump into you, good man, then I would be delighted to treat you to a dinner and a few beers as a thank you for the insight to prospecting. Keep well and Stay Safe, a fellow Steve :)
Thanks Stephen, glad you enjoyed. I was planning on being back out on the gold fields now but this covid 19 has had all the borders closed so hoping things get back to some sort of normality before too long, cheers.
You really have amazing videos. I really enjoy the way you tell about the reptiles and animals. I really love you videos, thanks for sharing. I'm from the US, but retired in the Philippines.
I don't normally watch a video from start to end when it's this long, but I really love this video. I especially love the nature part of your video. I live in the UK and I have a GPX 5000, that I use to find ancient relics and I have actually found gold with it 😮 I hope you make more videos like this one because I love to put nature into my videos, Cleggy.
Thanks Cleggy, Yeah the wildlife and scenery adds so much more to the whole experience and even with the risks of snakes etc it all adds to the adventure. I realise the clip is longer than most on utube but I decided to just hope its got enough interest to hold peoples attention for the duration, lol. It must be fascinating looking for relics in the UK with so much incredible history, Unfortunately we don't have any of the real ancient artifacts over here, its all a bit younger but still a big buzz finding old coins etc. Good luck to you, I hope you find a bag of old Roman gold coins or such, cheers.

Awesome trip and great gold! Loved your video with the view of nature included. If you started up guided tours, I'm in! Stay safe and watch out for the covid snake!

Big thumbs up!
Thanks Kerry, I think the reason for the gold being of nice colour is mainly due to most of it being of fairly high purity, because I have seen some gold from other areas that looked quite dull and lacking the bright yellow look. I traveled across Canada some years ago and what a magnificent country you have, the scenery and wildlife is fantastic, I hope to return there some day. Cheers.
Great video, Steve. you certainly detected some nice gold, rewarded for a lot of effort you no doubt put in. The lock down came in a week to soon or would have been in WA, suffering severe gold itch lol, won't be WA this year probably a settle for a trip to central Queensland. Stay healthy, stay safe. Cheers Peter T
I also watched the entirety of this film. Outstanding job. Makes me want to jump a flight and go down under. I’m from Vancouver Canada. Seriously considering a 4 week adventure. Damn Pandemic.
First time to watch your video . I must say, Wow ! I'm stunned and amazed how you interact with your environment and the animals you filmed . This to me is by far the best I've viewed , not taking away from your country men they're all great in my eyes. Your finds (gold) are stunning to say the least . Thank you so much . Mel
Thanks heaps glad you enjoyed. I've spent a great deal of my life exploring the great outdoors and have always liked interacting with wildlife. I've been on many solo trips into remote locations and have had lots of memorable close encounters, (sometimes a bit too close for comfort) with a variety of wild animals. From rare penguins to Bears in Alaska, even a run in with a wild cougar which certainly got the adrenaline flowing.
I love Australia, Traveled there a couple times with the USN, And several times with my job after that. Country is awesome and the people are great. Super friendly. Not much of the BS we have in this country anymore. Perth was exceptionally nice. Would love to just go there on vacation instead of working and spend a couple weeks traveling across the land.
Awesome I loved watching your old video and was wondering if you were still doing prospecting I’m from Brisbane and I’m a keen prospector I also visit Hervey Bay a lot
Thanks, I'm hoping to get out there later this year again but its all a bit uncertain at this stage with the lockdown etc. There's no doubt some good gold still to be found in Queensland too I imagine, especially up north but I think its mainly all private stations up there so its probably about who you know.
@@stevegraf9276 Yes still plenty of gold in Queensland plenty of gold everywhere if you know where to look . I was in Vic early on in the year for a holiday found gold but had to cut it short and come home back to Brisbane because of the lockdown . I’m keen to head up north when the time is right are you still stuck in Queensland Regards Mitch
@@mitchellpaterson7062 I'm actually stuck in NZ at the moment. The lockdown here has been really tight. Nothing has been open except supermarkets for food and you've only been allowed to walk in your immediate vicinity, nothing else except essential services is allowed. Very frustrating.
Yeah the trouble is they manage to deceive the innocent and unsuspecting just to get large numbers of views and unfortunately it works. It's sad they have no conscience or morals. Cheers.
I enjoyed that. I wish I was there with you. I'm watching from Satellite Beach Florida, USA There's nothing around here li!e that. Thank You, 👍 and subscribed. BK
Hello from Russia! Wonderful and inspiring video! Great work done, you make it better with an old samsung, than others with good cameras)) I'm really curious how much time in general you spent prospecting and finding all the nuggets you filmed?? Subscribed, wish you Luck and more free time to make such videos!
Hi thanks for that. I'm generally out there for many weeks at a time and usually like to go as remote as possible to try and get away from other people. I also tend to be very persistent and can often go for days at a time without success before striking something, so it does require a certain amount of patience, but its all worth it when you see a piece of gold laying in the dirt in front of you. It can also be very frustrating at times when there's an area full of old rusty junk metal etc, left from the old miners 100 years ago and believe me there's plenty of spots like that around. Of course I don't film all the gold I find either , a lot of the time I just don't carry my phone with me while prospecting. Cheers.
Every state in Australia has different regulations so its important to check with the mines department as to the rules before commencing prospecting. But anyone can do it as long as they get the necessary permit etc and only go on crown land, or if they get permission to go elsewhere.
First time watching and learning. Just wondering Steve, what do you mean that a couple were right near the source? I know about gold veins but they're deeper in the ground. What's a good vid to watch to know/learn? Tia.
Hi, the reason I would suggest that those particular pieces were not far from the source is due to their rough textured shape. Generally the more prickly and course they are means they haven't travelled far from their original place of formation, or at least from where they broke away from a possible host rock like maybe quartz or ironstone, perhaps a reef. Gold is relatively soft in terms of a metal, so the further it travels the smoother it gets as it rolls and grinds amongst the gravel. So that's why gold found in streams and rivers is usually very worn down, smooth and clean. It may have travelled a long way down a water course before finally stopping in a low point or crevice. Every prospector and miner hopes to find the source of where a deposit of gold came from as it may still contain a large amount of gold (the mother load). In my particular case however I didn't find it unfortunately. It's possible that there may have been more down deep beyond my detector range but regulations restrict me from going too deep unless I have a mining lease which I don't have. I can't suggest a video to watch and learn about it though because I haven't really watched any, but there's bound to be some good clips on utube explaining things in detail. Cheers.
I tend to travel around quite a bit so there are quite a few different locations. Mostly it's well north of Kalgoorlie, but anywhere from there to Leonora and right up to Meekatharra. But the main thing is to check with the mines department first to see where you can legally go because there are literally hundreds of live prospecting and mining leases all over the state and you don't want to accidently go on someone's lease because apart from it being illegal they almost certainly won't take kindly to it. I've found the staff at the mines departments to be really friendly and helpful.
highly venomous.....gee what a surprise lol....but considering the boulder size nuggets your pulling out i guess its worth hey? cheers from Edmonton Canada!!
Ha Ha yeah there's certainly plenty of venomous creatures in the land of Aus but as you say its worth the risk when there's gold out there and generally I think there's still more chance of being killed in a car accident. At least that's what I tell myself. Cheers.
Hi Chris, thanks for that. I was planning on being out there again around this time but unfortunately with all the lock down etc I'm still stuck in NZ. Hoping to still get out there again later on when things start to relax and borders open up. Hope all's well with you, Cheers.
Thanks' it probably seems like there's gold all over the place but believe me there's still plenty of days of finding nothing as well. But it certainly is exciting when you find a new patch though.
Hi, I didn't actually cast them into anything they just came out that way. When I melt the gold in the potatoe, once it becomes molten I just tip it into a container of water and they just end up whatever shape they are. Sometimes I've re melted them to change the shape. You can melt them as many times as you like with no loss. Before I start though I usually weigh the fine stuff to be melted so that the finished chunk will end up just over an ounce. It would be interesting to get some proper casting clay and actually make some moulds. Could make them any shape you want. Cheers 😃👍.
Thanks, its a minelab gpx5000. Pretty good for Australian conditions. Has a lot of settings available and is very good for tuning on mineralised ground.
Hi Joe, I do it very basically and only take what I need and not much extra. I removed the rear seats out of my vehicle and made a bed that fits nicely in the back which gives me storage space underneath for food etc. Its all fairly cramped but still works ok for one person, besides if it was too comfortable I may not want to get out of bed so early in the mornings, lol. That way I don't need a tent. I have a gas cooker for cooking and ration my food and water per day so that I can last for up to three weeks at a time before having to go somewhere to top up. I generally use approximately 3 liters of water per day and carry three 25 litre containers. My vehicle has two fuel tanks so I don't need to carry extra fuel containers, although it would still be a good idea. I tend to eat a lot of canned and dried food while outback. I carry a spare heavy duty battery for the vehicle which saved me last trip as I got a flat one after camping in one spot for a few days without running the vehicle to charge it. I have an inside light and I charge the detector battery off the car battery also. I would strongly suggest having a locator beacon with you, I don't have one but I probably should. I also carry a few tools in case of a breakdown, including spare fan belts and hoses. As you can imagine there's not a lot of spare room left after everything is in. Much more comfortable if you have a caravan or camper as most people seem to out there, but it still does the job.
Beautiful jewelry pieces!

Cheers.
every dog has his day, nice nuggie there slick.
Thanks cheers.
Great Job Cousin 😎
Hi Chris, thanks for that. I was planning on being out there again around this time but unfortunately with all the lock down etc I'm still stuck in NZ. Hoping to still get out there again later on when things start to relax and borders open up. Hope all's well with you, Cheers.
G'day Steve, you'll have to show us what your camp setup is like.
Dude I'm jealous. You are finding major nuggets all day long! Wow.
Thanks' it probably seems like there's gold all over the place but believe me there's still plenty of days of finding nothing as well. But it certainly is exciting when you find a new patch though.
Fell asleep to aquamarine mining to wake up to this screaming in my ear… I was not very happy. But I do like this video
Nice Ariel pics what kind of drone do you use
The drone is a Mavic. I bought it a few years ago for about 1800 I think. They're probably cheaper now, and you can get even smaller ones also.
Great video.Hallo from Denmark.
Cheers thanks for that.
Hi Steve, what did you cast those lovely 1 oz nuggets into to get those great shapes
Cheers 😃👍.
Amazing post Steve. What kind of gold detector is it that you have?
Thanks, its a minelab gpx5000. Pretty good for Australian conditions. Has a lot of settings available and is very good for tuning on mineralised ground.
Haha, you don't normally get shaky hand, but with that big 2+ oz er, at 1:10:57, you definitely got shaky.
Hi Steve, what sort of in car camping gear do you need for survival and how many litres of water do you require per day?
Much more comfortable if you have a caravan or camper as most people seem to out there, but it still does the job.
awesome gold adventure
Very different than California prospecting. Nice chunky and rough nuggets
