I use hemp and maize mix not sparingly either and had 9 carp out in 3 trips while everyone else was blanking messing about with pva bags. It's not an easy lake either.
Before you go stick a kilo of bolies in a bucket and fill with water and liquid of your choice, wash them out you can then fish then whole or mulch them and add a few maggots in the winter I've found the brighter the hook bait the better good luck mate
Wrap up warmer than we did when we were kids sleeping on the floor. When the lake freezes over in front of you using a bedsheet for warmth in a thin nylon umbrella bivvy cos thats all you got HAHAHA.
More attraction than feeding....alot of Crumb, Scent, No Oils in Winter.....PVA Bags/Mesh Balls with Crumb, Groundbait, Liquid food things like that, Maggits, Chop worms....you want to create a Trail of Scents and not feed in Winter.
@gwl78 yes you can, Hemp oil is probably the better oil in Colder Months BUT What you've got to remember is a lot of oils don't work in temperatures below 8 degrees. This is why hemp oil is so good. For example if you chuck hemp oil into the margin you'll see the oil dissipating in the water and floating off. Cloudy Liquids (Manilla) A range of liquids that disperse attraction well in cold weather. Alcoholic additives: Spirits and liqueurs like vodka and Baileys Irish Cream can be very attractive to carp. Betalin (Hibders is a Good Winter liquid). Soak Boilies in Hemp Oil, Fake Corn in Betalin, Maggots, Worms...

Im the same mate...carry on carrying on with what works. I'm more lake specific than season specific and accepting that winter is just harder

@@fish4london75 😆 I think I was with you at Cray Lake when it was snowing... That was grim 😆
Usually long soaked hook baits with sparse baiting.
Yes, that's what I think I'll be being too. 👍
Usually baits that have been soaked for a year or two.@sifishes
