I saw them open for Maiden with the Vinny Vincent Invasion. So good! Axl stage dove. I never saw that before. My teenage mind was pretty blown by that show.

🤘😎🤘 Enjoyed your reaction! GnR was quite the musical phenomenon in the '80s and early '90s. They're still selling out arenas & stadiums, today. According to the R.I.A.A., as of 2022, GnR has sold 145 million albums. Pretty Cool.
Like I said best guitar pron ever... No question about it. The whole "appetite for destruction" album is pure gold and they did like 3-4 world tours on the back of this one album. You ain't the first or last person to feel this in your soul.

gnr is the only band i have seen where all the members are beautiful and hot, not just the singer as it happens in most cases.
I saw this song and video on mtv earlier in the spring of 88 graduated June 2 and left for army the 3rd 8wks later GnR had exploded!! you were born and I am showing my age keep it up girl.
I remember the first time I saw them perform live was in July 1987 when they opened up for Motley Crue on their "Girls! Girls! Girls!" tour at the Gulf Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, MS. When I say that was one wild concert experience, I would have to say I would be totally making a serious understatement. Those two crazy-azz bands rocked the house to the point where the adrenaline and hormones hit all time highs.
I saw the same tour in Atlanta. They did 2 nights. We went to the first night and was glad too, because the next night's show, Axl had an issue with a fan while on stage and got arrested. Good times, good memories.

@Silver Aeterna in 1989 guns n roses came with skid row at the Birmingham race course an outdoor concert and someone shot fireworks onto the stage and Axl walked off and the crowd started tearing the place apart.

They were very hit and miss live. I saw them on the Use Your Illusion tour here in the uk and they were sensational. Some of their other live stuff on YT really doesn’t do them justice.

@The Logical Voice True but Aerosmith really died(only mostly dead), they were resurrected by Run DMC, in actuality, by Rick Rubin, who had to talk both sides into doing the collaboration. Without that, we may not have ever got the Permanent Vacation or Pump albums plus the others that followed. We might have gotten Permanent Vacation but it might have been ignored by the radio and MTV. They really burned a lot of bridges in the 70's. They needed that collab to bring them back into the public eye.
@The Logical Voice Axl never had a heroin habit, he was the voice against it in the band once izzy and slash were bad off. He had used it sparingly in the early days but never had a problem. Did a rock star use coke here and there and drink? Sure, but to say he was a drunk or addict is just untrue. He was very careful to keep his voice operational during the illusions tour.

For me, G’n’R never got any better than this spectacular song, it’s their magnum opus. Funnily enough, the story Axl tells at the top of this video, he kind of put me through, or my own version of it: Having moved to the big city alone at a young age, I caught a G’n’R show my first night in the city. And of course they opened with this song. So when the iconic ”You know where you are, baby? You’re in the jungle. You’re gonna diiiiiiiiieeeeee” came screaming out of the PA, it obviously felt like he was addressing me. And for a while there I felt rather small, I must say.
Better to stick with studio versions first then live if you want because the live versions sometimes just don't sound as good so better to listen to what made the song a hit in the first place.
VH1 sent surveys to 1000 musicians and music executives and this song was voted the number one rock song of all time.
I saw them live in Austin, Texas back in the late 80s / early 90s. They were notorious for starting shows late or not at all, but that show started right on time and was - to this day - one of the best concerts I've ever seen in my life.

This entire album was phenomenal. Along with Boston's first album, G&R Appetite for Destruction are the two greatest debut albums any band has ever released. There is a not a bad tune on the album.

I got to see GnR (played 3 hours) with Metallica (played 3 hours) and Faith No More (played 45 minutes) in The Superdome. And then their own tour shortly thereafter I saw them at the PMAC in Baton Rouge when they played for 2 hours and 45 minutes. I was spoiled. I caught then in their prime.
I was going to suggest you're ready for Motley Crue "Primal Scream" ... but I think that would be too much and we might not see ya for a couple days - but hubby's going to be smiling :D
BTW, 1988, Remember that year, it was so, so hot. But these guys in concert in this time period, it was everything you might imagine and more - but there weren't no bras flying cause the girls didn't wear any but they threw their tank tops and T-shirts from everywhere.

I see several posters recommending "Knocking on Heaven's Door" from this show. I would recommend the version of the same song, live from Wembley Stadium in 1991 at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert. It's by far a superior version of that song. In fact, it's my all time favorite live video of GnR.
