      Ohma Niko style isn't complete to our knowledge I think there is more to offer in the Niko style then the formless cause the formless has no discipline in its attacks and defense. Techniques with no form are for the most part risky. In real life I think a formless technique would be a 'unorthodox ' strike or defensive move, which only works for few fighters, but puts them all at risk of getting clipped....if I'm making sense lol

    Very good arguments for both Niko Style and Formless. However, if we compare Ohma's Niko Style and Kanoh's fusion of Formless and Martial Arts we gotta remember that Martial Arts is pretty much an infinite warehouse of almost every martial art out there from grappling and MMA to perfect foresight + evolution. Kanoh had 160+ official Kengan matches and anyone without proportional experience will get fucked including Ohma. Also Kanoh's literally twice Ohma's size so the reach gap will limit Demonsbane to only long range counters which Kanoh will know and gladly exploit.

  • @seaweedjeff9187
    @seaweedjeff9187 3 года назад +49

    I think tokita niko (ohmas master) developed the base niko style and so did ohma. This style that was developed i think is stronger than formless. I also think formless is just a very complex use of the water kata, just like the grapples of the water kata is unconventional and places emphasis on flexibility and fluidity of motion. Also the move water mirror which he used on his fight with cosmo, says, "there is no specific form for Water Mirror it allows the user to be flexible and change the way they use it in a fight situation". from this i can guess tiger niko used the water kata as a base for the formless and just expanded on that.

    • @seaweedjeff9187
      @seaweedjeff9187 3 года назад +10

      I also think the formless isnt unpredictable. But it just adapts to the current situation which counters the style in a way that its hard for them to react. It uses the styles fluidity to do unconventional moves which catches the opponent off guard. If it was really "unpredictable" kanoh wouldnt be able to block lu tiens moves, kanoh was even able to predict to stop atacking one point of the fight or hed lose at that moment. So its definetely not unpredictable but its just hard to predict i guess

He usually dodged the opponents attacks but always pressuring them and being on the attack while simultaneously bobbing and weaving using eradic head movements. Those movements would also contribute to very strong and unpredictable attacks mid to close range. I think the formless style is something like that but in a MMA setting. The others including Other Niko perfected the Kata's they were best at then Other Niko leveled it it up to Formless ( my guess water kata) at its perfected limit.

      The Niko style has overpowered techniques that the formless style just doesn't, the Niko style is all about mastering fundamentals of martial arts to prepare the user for the demon's Bane. The formless style is influenced by the Niko style but is about using the right technique at the right time. The water look is not about the water Kata it's about fluidly transitioning between moves because we have seen water Kata user's they generally don't look like that when using it.

But it doesn't seem like it would be weaker than the Niko style, not just because aghito uses it. But because the Niko style seems rigid in comparison. Even the demon's Bane an incredibly powerful technique is a counter which requires mastery of timing prediction redirection and body softening, the best thing for that is the unpredictability of the formless style.

    I'm a bit late to this video but here is my thoughts. The Niko style is a blend of techniques to allow you to adapt to any fighting opponent, while utilizing or sticking to your strengths. Example Ohma is pretty strong with the Adamantine Kata. I am willing to bet that Tiger niko's mastery of the Niko style is a mastery of the water kata. I believe that he figured out a way or just mastered the water kata to such a high level that he figured out how to apply the water kata to himself, thus creating formless.
    So in short look at formless as being a master of the water kata of the Niko style. When ever we see the Tiger Niko get into a scrap on screen, if he pulls out the niko style I bet you he uses the water kata to a high level. After all look at how fei attacked Waka. He used primarily the water kata. And look at the Lu tian and Agito fight. A lot of the panels were drawn as if those two were water. Probably foreshadowing or paying respect to the fact that formless is heavily based off of the water kata of the Niko style.

    Well in my opinion
    Formless is better in destructive sense as using that it is just focusing on whoever is in front of you
    While Niko style can be used as self defense as the more the technique are their the harder to master them and
    In way of kuroki using the right technique at right time is martial arts
    But formless has no set technique

    I think the Formless well be the Tiger Niko's counter to Demon's bane. Like what is Formless good at? Not takinging a direct hit. Demon's bane is by its core a counter attack. You can beat counter attack by not taking the hit. So a counter to a counter.
    Also T.Niko says that the Niko style has reached a dead end and hes right. If D.Bane is is ultimate technique then where does it go from there? There is nothing else to learn and relys on the fighters abilities from there. Now what increases a fighters abilities? The Advance.
    So boom....T.Niko's goal was to not only have a counter to the D.Bane of the Niko style but to also have a way to advance the abilities of the Niko user and a pure formless user.
    T.Niko could end up being the person who layed the groundwork to the advancement of a style that has reached it's dead end in the Niko style.

    formless is a style that doesn't go by the book. it can't be predicted, because there is no basis that it is based off. it's all based off in the moment, quickly deciding your next move, and constantly rechoosing another move on the spot instead of having a plan of how you're going to fight. it's literally an on the spot freestyle, reacting as best as you can to the situation and quickly choosing any potential move, instead of sticking to 1 form. That's how I think it is

    So basically you have no respect for lu tians words, all he said is false according to you and advance is indeed the ultimate technique and its better than formless because why not, headcannon is strong.
    We should focus on what we have in manga and not in our own headcannon, in manga so far we got the confirmation that advance and falled are indeed not good techniqeus.
    Its actually funny how they call advance a niko style techniques, but in reality it has almost no meaning in the original style itself.

    The Formless style is basically the Water Kata of the Niko Style on steroids. It's an expanded derivative of the Niko Style. That being said, I think Niko Style is generally better. That isn't discrediting Formless, though. Formless is a very good and versatile style. However, Niko Style has more going for it, and it is overall a better style.
