- LEARN TO SCORE LIKE MJ: cli.gs/HowToScoreLikeMJ
At age 38 and 315 days, MJ shattered the record for the oldest player to score 50+. The game prior had MJ scoring just 6 due to injury which stopped his NBA-record double-figures scoring streak at 866 games. MJ came out to make up for that here. It should be mentioned that MJ's injury limited him to just 2 full-game scrimmages the entire year in practice. One must wonder, without the injury, what might have been possible at ages 38-40? Zone was allowed starting that year with hand-checking tighter than today as one-legged, twilight MJ broke a few records that day. - Спорт
I don't think some understand how amazing it was that he averaged 22 point, 5 rebs, and 5 assists at the age of 38.
yeah dude your right
brian balmocena you + are = you're
its not that amazing because he had 3 years of rest. Look at what Kobe is doing on 17 straight years coming off two injuries.
jason jasonson Kobe's a bitch. He chokey-choke-choked in the 2008 finals, much to my distinct pleasure as a Celtics fan.
jason jasonson Are you serious? Being away from the game for three years at that age would devastate most players' careers.
I went to this game with my dad. My first and only time I saw MJ.
bsdman1 Good for you. Very lucky. I never saw him live.
+bsdman1 I'm jealous :(
Same with school though. Only time ever saw him wizards years
I envy u so bad.
He’s not lying I’m the ball
38 shots in 38 minutes at age 38 for 51 points against a playoff team. Now that's legendary!
I was at this game. The only NBA game I've ever seen live. Was a HUGE fan of the Bulls when I was a kid because of MJ, only to find out later that he was going to be a Wizard (my home team) and this just happened to be the one time I got to see him. I'll never forget it.
PhunkyPhishPhan You are do lucky.I never saw him live. Those were the days.
He’s not lying I’m the ball
@@jordanpeeks3231 Holy shit, Ball?!? Is that you?! Omg where have you been? I haven't seen you in nearly 20 years and you haven't aged a day!!
51 points without any 3 pointers and dunks, all made by himself
ESPN and other jerks on the radio would have you believe his Wizards years were "terrible", A 37 year old Kobe can't hit the broad side of a barn, YET and at age 39 MJ averaged 22.9 ppg and at 40 he averaged 20 ppg and played all 82 games... AT F*CKIN 40 years old ... AND HE WAS A GUARD/FORWARD!!!!!!!!! Not a BIG or a CENTER but a G/F... #GOAT
+rockstar80 That is true but Jordan was only in his 14th season at age 38-39 so he did not have as much wear and tear as Kobe. Kobe from seasons 14-17 averaged over 27ppg. Jordan in his 15th and final season avg 20ppg.
+itshiho old is old. kobe nor any other player can do what jordan did at this age
+I HOPE ALL GOOGLE BASTARDS DIE A PAINFULL DEATH no guard can do with Kobe did in his 17th season either
+I HOPE ALL GOOGLE BASTARDS DIE A PAINFULL DEATH more miles are also more miles
koby 37 is not jordans 37,Michael jordan retired twice. and played 15 seasons.Koby played 20 years straight. that's wear and tear on your body.so u do the math.not taking anything away from jordan. but koby put in wrk.
Absolutely incredible that he averaged 20 ppg the season he turned 40. I had thought he didn't average a lot in those two years with the Wizards but then I looked it up and he averaged 22.2 and 20 the year he was 39-40 years of age. I mean that's just unbelievable. By far the greatest to ever lace em up.
He retired twice when he was at the top of his game top of the mountain!!!! only god knows how many champions MVPs would be added to his amazing collection
He was actually averaging 24 ppg in the 01-02 season but injuries brought that average down. Unbelievable indeed
It's more incredible considering he was retired for 3 years. When you get older, if you don't use it, you lose it.
MJ definitely had lost a step, quickness and vertical-wise, but he was still one of the top 10 players after sitting for 3 years. It's amazing, really.
Plus the fact that he really only had 1 good leg the entire time as well.
Man, if MJ would kept throwing shots like he did in the first quarter, he would scored like 88 or 90pts in that game. Sadly he started to pass the ball and slow his scoring. Now I can see why Kobe imitate Michael in everything, is the only way to succeed in this sport. MJ implemented the perfect game, without any weakness. If Mj would play with today's rules that obviously benefit scorers, Kobe's 81 would be surpassed by like 97 or 105 pts of Mj. And not just that!!! Mj would be averaged like 55 pts per game. At 40 he showed how good he was. Simply amazing!!!
age 38 with 51 points and without a single dunk, jordan was a badass
Michael Jordan's "Bad Years".
"*YEAR*"
through the first half of the 01/02 season he was still a top 5 player in the league before his knee injury happened. through 46 games he averaged 25-6-5 (numbers only Tmac would put up at the end of the season),
and he led the 19-win Wizards to a 26-21 record (Jordan missed 1 game, 26-20 when he played). and they were missing Rip Hamilton for 5 weeks in that stretch as well. They were 15-1 when both Rip and MJ played together before the injury. following his injury they lost 9/10 games and fell out the playoff race as Jordan's numbers took a hit, then he was never the same after his knee injury
+Joseph Fabian lol right?
+Nobody Touches Jordan like drose was never the same as well
not the same thing at all lmao
Watching Kobe's last game right while watching this. 51 at 38! Jordan is GOAT for a reason
+Erick J well Kobe led the lakers to a win with 60 points. lol
+VClipser 50 shots tho
That's a very good point. Jordan is the finesse king.
Erick J kobe always dick rode mj to the fullest. Hes the closest to jordan weve seen
Fuck lebroad
Erick J & there was no defense. They opponents were giving Kobe open shots, and He took like 40 attempts
Any Jordan fans that are interested in his career need to read Playing for Keeps. Best Jordan book I've read. You'll learn about Phil Jackson, Rodman, and Pippen. The book makes you feel like you were on the team bus during the 90s Bulls years.
Who wrote it? I’ll check it out - it doesn’t try to drag MJ’s reputation across the pavement like Jordan Rules right??
@@Delksy1524 The author is Pulitzer Prize winner David Halberstam who also wrote another great book about the 1978 Blazers "The Breaks of the Game". I have a copy of Playing for Keeps. I highly recommend it also. The Last Dance docu series borrows a lot from Halberstam's technique and structure of jumping around the differrent timelines of the book's subjects. It is very candid about MJ without any muckraking. It creates a complex, intimate picture of MJ as a once in a century talent but also shows the complex sociocultural economic factors that helped make him an icon.
the Greatest NBA player of All Time. . .MICHAEL JORDAN. . .
People underestimate 40 year old MJ but the reality is is that MJ worked out A LOT. Him at 40 is prolly most players at 33-36. He prolly stayed strong longer cus he kept working out , whereas most players begin to slow down as they head towards retirement. Just shows how Jordans fire never died cus he wanted to play for as long as he could
absolutely amazes me how Jordan completely changed his style from when he first came into the league (dunker slasher) to a pure skil/high intelligent/shooter and still maintain being the best player in the nba every year
well said
There's certain number 24 who seems to have evolved very similarly...
+Blasian People are too sexy Jordan was always highly skilled even in his rookie season. It was Pippen that was raw. Jordan took Pippen under his wing and made him get better.
Paul Tiplea richard jefferson?
MisterBinx while it is true that Pippen was raw, Jordan was raw too as a young rookie. He was basically like Andrew Wiggins is now, a slasher with a broken jumper and a few back to the basket moves.
@@jasonjasonson9154 Jordan had a broken jumper? That's news to me. He was money from mid-range from the start. Heck, he hit 44.7% of his 3PT shots at UNC when they had the experimental 3PT line. He could've been a knock down 3PT shooter early in his career if that's what his coaches wanted.
I consider myself to be very blessed to have watched Jordan play when I was a child.
at this point in his career nothing to prove. He was playing just for the game itself. He already proved that he is the greatest no doubt. For other nba greats to compare themselves to mike please stop. Mj greatest of all time by a million miles!
It makes me laugh when people say defense in the 80s and 90s sucked that's absolutely false the 80s and 90s were by far the toughest era in basketball you could hand check, bad boys Pistons, the Pacers and Knicks flipping each other over their backs no way a team today could match up if you even barely touch a player now it's a fricken foul Jordan would of dominated if this was his era hands down
exactly.. he'd be getting so many and-one's it would be ridiculous lol
Not to mention all the anti Jordan tactics designed to take him out of his game that are only made possible by the lax rules of the 80/90s! Jordan would average 35ppg in the modern era on efficient shooting easily!
Easily bro he would be unstoppable - the other argument is the 3 point shooting and I’m like have y’all ever heard about MJ’s work ethic? If the game was more oriented around the 3 point shot then that’s what he would implement into his rigorous training/practices, and would have perfected the 3 ball to match the current style of play. Hell even without a huge emphasis on him to shoot the 3 ball he still had a decent outside game and had a few games totally on fire from behind the arc. His unwavering will and determination would have catapulted him to the top of any era. Damn i miss watching dude play ball
U realize there is a video a guy made claims Jordan couldn’t score if he played zone defense... the guy almost 40 drops 51 ... ok
You can't compare Lebron to Jordan. Jordan is the best
your already comparing lebron to Jordan right now
Another reason why he is the greatest. No 3 pointers in that highlight
@ColoredSpaces
That was fricken awesome! How can you not love MJ! Except if you were going against him :)
jbird1777 right
jbird1777 best ever hands down
with today's rules he could do 80+
please shut the fuck up
King龍 you stfu
budugi MJ sat out most 4th Qt's during tha championship yrs. Jordan never cared about scoring records, nor did He stat pack like Lebron. Some of His best Wizard's games, He took Himself out.
@Λ he woud score 100 against NY
This is why he's the BEST... Who here today can still have 50+ games at 38? No one
Kobe can at 36
i just came here from the story about mj by doug collins.. fukn amazing
Me too :)
Its pretty sick to know what goes on behind the scenes
exactly mate
- thats why i wanted to watch this game- knowing he had cocktails, cigars n shit the night before & was up at 7:30am in the gym... simply goat!
I was tryin to find coach collins on the bench to see his face...;D
Yea i would have loved to see that
Jordan wizard years to me is more impressive and even more of the reason why he is the goat. for him to do what he did..average 20+ a game at ages 38-40... deal with the injures...broken ribs etc, i suggest people go look at the Ron Artest interview, speaks on how he broke mj ribs at the start of the 2001 season...during the summer some of the top players would play ball together...ron artest said he was the best player in the league at age 38..said couldn't nobody stop him... then the accident were he broke mj ribs happened. so he went into the season injured and still put up the numbers he did... The Goat!!!
nice shootaround, MJ!!!
Been over 10 years of RUclips and I've still never seen anybody upload an NBC game from 2002 with Michael Jordan's Wizards. Anybody out there have any footage of any games? I remember there being a Wizards/Raptors game and Wizards/Mavericks game that Michael played it. In blows me away that footage from his final days on the network he dominated in the 90s is practically non-existent outside of the All Star game. I'd really love to see one of those games uploaded.
im a lebron fan but he will never the the goat mj all the way
This is the most honest comment I've ever read from a Lebron's fan. Though I like him too (he is one of the best player ever and I think he's gonna get the Hall Of Fame one day!), but Michael is unreachable and this video shows it!
bvdub98 losing isn't GOAT worthy. He gave up in 2018's finals, nothing goat esque. sue me!
GOAT
his style of play is just so nice to watch
He’s simply the greatest. I’ve seen all the great past and present players film. I’ve watched, listened, and crunched numbers. There isn’t another player that is better in any of the categories with the only exceptions being longevity and 3pt%. Longevity I wish he was still playing sure. See MJ shooting 3 pointers as part of a main offensive weapon…boring and something any professional could master. To have offensive weapons anywhere on the floor and played true defense there’s nobody better!
As soon as Lebron or Kobe get 50 at age 38, let me know. Or 40, at 40 years old. GOAT right here.
Wilt and Jabbar disagree and they are right:) 1. Wilt, 2. Jabbar, 3. MJ. Take it and be happy.
kiikiikhan You're high if you think Wilt and KAJ are better than MJ.
this is very impressive due to longevity but what players hornets had to make mj work for his points?
As soon as Jordan scores 81 points,62 points in 3 quarters vs a team that went to the finals the same year, beats the record of 12 3 pointers in a game, win 2 championships with zone D legal in an era with way more athletic, way better at shooting than the previous eras players, let me know .
LiKeThEsHaDoW As soon as Kobe wins 6 titles, 6 Finals MVPs, 5 regular season MVPs and is a 10 time scoring champion let me know.
MJ play like MJ...that's all
A masterclass of basketball.
this man is the all time best of all the best, his a zen master,.. his so amazing.. this guy is a gifted basketball player, no one can cover him..
i think he can score more than 51,
there are still 4 min left in the clock.
The g.o.a.t. at work here. Hard to imagine how some ppl still compare the superstars of t'day to him. Maybe kobe comes a near second but uhmnn..... yea that's it. MJ be like...."i'm 38, and i'm kick'n all ur 20 somethin' asses off of here." 'Nuff said!
154 dislikes? who on this planet does not love this video?, my God , even if u dont like MJ, even if u dont like basketball, this is top notch performance of a great athlete, u must appreciate the hard work that this man put, over the years, to play this kind of basketball
I have been watching the NBA since I was a kid. I am 37 now. My twin brother and I watched every single Chicago Bulls game (and Wizards) that came on starting in junior high. We of course were HUGE MJ fans! I have always kept up with the NBA even today. To compare anyone to Jordan is just ridiculous. I've seen all the players that have come during and after Jordan, and still...Nobody even comes close to what he was doing. Jordan is by far the greatest!
zone defense is joke. No wonder why jordan still put 50 as old age. There no doubt that prime jordan will score 50 points per game easily.
This one guy told me defense in the 80s were week XDDD lmao.
yes you right bro, what ever defense you made to jordan, he can still dominate..today's NO CONTACT is fuckin joke if prime jordan play this league
Chang Ki Hong watch another vid Jordan vs Nets at 40, they even triple team him on defense but still couldn't stop him to score 43.
I bet he could still get 50.
I do too! You make me remember that Jay Leno's interview when he asked to Michael "Can you still dunk?" and Michael legendary answer "Can I still dunk? Are you stupid?" ahahahahah
alexlanza79
that was a stupid question, he's only 50 not 80. Of course he can dunk. Maybe not from the free throw line but he can still get up.
I love watching Wizards MJ, it's just pure skills.
Once in a lifetime athlete.
Kobe just had 60 on 50 shots. Lol
BTW, see stuff like this is the reason why I'm such a big fan of sports. The ability to argue and do it in a professional manner. Thanks Multi...this is how youtube arguments should be like without having to resort to being offensive and name calling. Much respect homie
MJ brought class back to the NBA for these two seasons. Pure class.
That's an unbelievable game by a 25 year old, let alone at age 38...he was truly the best to ever play the game...Michae Jordan is what every player wishes they were.
Hoopsencyclopedia - you are the best ever.
One of a kind 🔥☝️👏💪
Jordan was a god. We will never see a player quite like him as long as we live. Guaranteed. He was and is a very special talent. Like Mozart with a friggin basketball.
Michael Jordan #1 forever
jordan so fun to watch : he's really fundamentally sound and his fadeaways and post moves are the best thing that happened to the nba, nowadays it's just run fast and dunk hard on someone : that's fun too but mixing it up with finesse is better.
@bodybuilder718 THANK YOU. I'm with you to the MAX on that.
He is just the greatest!!!
MJ is LEGEND
There will never be a debate about who the greatest basketball player is of all time without it starting with Michael Jordan. Even people who never watched basketball will say Michael Jordan, because his greatness transcended his sport. Jordan’s on-court accomplishments are something to marvel at, but how used his talent to make himself practically bigger than the sport that made him is still an awe-inspiring feat.
Jordan BEST EVER. Period.
I want to be a nba player like kobe and MJ
MJ THE BEST EVEE
The roger federer of basketball, or err. They both play with such effortless speed and finesse even into the twilight of their receptive careers. Champions
Michael Jordan är det bästa som fanns redan
Its the fundamentals that are his strongest weapons in the wizard era. Thats what breaks him apart from these youngsters
Jordan even left a year to play baseball and came back and won more championships!! He was is the best to ever play the game
Great vid
this was the only game i ever saw jordan play live
The graphics coming up showing how many points he has and the field goal shooting, then looking at the Wizards score is just plain sick. At one point, he had 45 points and the Wizards had 82 total. Incredible.
Michael Jordan is the bomb.
Incomparable, imparable, invencible M J
MJ was flat out sick. Didnt matter how old he was, how long he was away from the game, if he had the flu, etc. He just always found ways to dominate.
People talk about his athleticism alot, but even as he was losing some of it his high basketball IQ still got it done on the court.
M.J fadeaway PERFECT!
this is amazing
I watched this game. The Great Michael Jordan
Aside from everything he can do and what he accomplished as a player, people dont realize how smart MJ is. Very high IQ and that helped develop his game into something we have never witnessed until he came into the league. Add a hate to lose attitude like no other and you have a machine, simply the greatest.
45 in three quarters at 38. Amazing. Jordan's greatness should not be doubted.
the greatest nba player of all time MJ
This is why there will be no one better than him ever easily. He went out here and done this easily. Lord have mercy if this was a young Michael Jordan Jesus
Wonderful Michael Jordan
That fadeaway was so f'n smooth. Bird had a jumper, Ray Allen had the quick release, kareem had the hook, but jordan owned the fadeaway.
Michael jordan the greatest player of all time
GREATEST OF ALL TIME!!!!
He makes it look just so easy.
OMG!!!! HOW EASY The look the game of basketball is looking the G.O.A.T. Amazing grace, creativity and quick minddent moves really captures the attencion of the entire world!!!
10 yrs ago Mike broke the record....10 yrs later this RUclips video has 4 million hits!....Mike is the G.O.A.T.
Relieve the memories folks!
Our era seen the Greatest ever play
