I really appreciate your videos, easy to follow, brief, to the point, and your voice is calm and enjoyable. I have anxiety so sometimes I end up turning off videos because people are just too much. Really appreciate your vids and tips!
Hi, As a mid 50s man about to start living on my own for the first time in my life and as someone who never liked clutter I found your video very useful 👍. You don't use oil when cooking. I'd like to know more about this, vaporized oil gets everywhere and makes a hell of a mess that's hard to remove. Have you done a video about this?
Hi Adrian! How great! I'm so glad my videos can be useful :) Oh yes! I love that fact about not using oil either - we basically don't have to clean our oven. I haven't made a video on it, but it's a good video idea! Using splashes of water works just as fine and is a lot healthier. Here is a bit more information on my diet and why I don't eat oil in general nutritionfacts.org/
Your soap dish with rubber bands is such a good idea. If using a plastic dish, you can heat up a knife to make four notches so that the rubber band is held in each indent.
Loved this video! I'm obsessed with minimalism and natural cleaning, so I'm so happy I found you! I first found you from your video about ASD kids (my 7 year old son), and I'm so happy to see that we gave even more in common! Hello from Wisconsin! ❤
Loved this one! And would love to see more cleaning videos. I especially liked how you showed ways of using baking soda! Some of those I had no idea about, and it really simplifies cleaning SO much!🤍
Yea please. I Am currently Konmari method cleansing my space. Also got all 3in one furniture which you described. I would love you to Series : 1.wardrobe - organizing tips, cleaning shoes, belts and bags keep up, laundry process of your clothes. Which days, why those days, how long it takes you for all 1.2.3. 2. Cleaning schedule for whole month, when and how often: handles, switches, lights, lamps, mirrors, windows, floors, beds, sheets, drawers, cabinets 3. Self care, your routine it Scandinavian normal time - mind body soul inc. brushing teeth and again timing , products, hair, saunas, body scrub or dry scrubbing, masks, nails, meditation or books, when how often what times why, also tea time or coffee or something you guys do… I really really need new structure and don’t have time for all different style trial and research. Btw I have berkey also, how often do you clean it how you clean it, when it is really off, I never know when to change stuff… I am nearly there but I need structure… and you are so wonderful and explain sooo clear and msg goes right into my head and absorb. And yeas please fill in on bed set up, non toxic options, I am ready to change mattress, I do have feathers pillow duvet, cotton sheets and silk… mattress is a question - this is too soft and toxic of course, found few like avocado and other brands but 2000$? Anyway please yes please do detailed series on everything! If possible even 30 day sheet for cleaning… ❤
Oh and lighting - you sound like you know led is bad as well as mercury ones… so with incandescent light bulbs, what illumines number and watts , which areas since so many in room
Wow, thank you SO MUCH! Amazing suggestions, I have saved them all. And love your name ;) ❤ I am actually really wanting to do more cleaning videos! My mattress is an organic latex mattress, 100% latex, nothing else. Best material by far, completely non toxic, but very very expensive. Our first one was second hand until we could afford a new one! For the Berkey, I clean it every three months. I empty it and clean the inside with dishsoap, rinse completely, and then let it dry upside down on kitchen towels. I also scrub the black filters until they're clean, and it works so much faster after this, highly recommend! And also, you're doing amazing
I love this video. You clean with great care and attention to detail. In Buddhism cleaning is very much a spiritual ritual. I had two further comments and two questions. The comments: I adore the Swedish two duvet tradition and adopted it on discovering it in my first visit to Stockholm! (and also air the bed in the way you describe). The second is about a lack of clutter aiding cleaning. It's an obvious point but often overlooked. I think Fumio Sasaki said cleaning if you have an owl sculpture involves: 1. move owl sculpture; 2. clean floor, 3. return owl sculpture; cleaning without owl sculpture: 1. clean floor. The questions: 1. Do you single task when cleaning? I.e. not listening to music or a podcast or something like that? 2. I think you said you donated your sofa in another video. What do you guys do for seating? Floor seating is something that interests me in Japanese traditional culture, but I haven't been quite brave enough to embrace it.
Oh I love that saying. It is so true, and often as you say, overlooked. Cleaning is so much easier without the “owl” and I find it also less overwhelming. To answer your questions :) 1. When cleaning I tend to not do anything else. But I do quite enjoy the task of cleaning and letting my mind go crazy before it settles down. I rarely listen to podcasts. Only for long travels really. But sometimes when I cook I do, because I find cooking a bit more difficult. But Pema Chodron speaks fantastically about how even the most mundane tasks such as cleaning can be fresh and present and rediscovered each time, with meditation. That is my aspiration. 2. Yes, I restored a sofa but we sold it because the money seemed more useful. Currently we sit on organic latex squabs or square cushions, similar to the Japanese style. However once we have a settled home I want a sofa because I find it useful, as long as it doesn’t come with a tv ;) I prefer to have a place to rest my back when reading, currently that’s quite difficult and I end up hunched over on the floor. I’m hoping to create some sort of built in sofa in a corner, with cushions on top. This way it’s part of the home and not furniture. The floor is okay but reading as mentioned, is difficult. Gatherings quickly become more personal but I think we would technically need a low table to be able to sit better. But for now it works. In the van we will have a sofa, but that converts in to a bed so not really applicable for house living as such ☺️ But I agree with you. And there of my long reply. Sofas are difficult to find in natural materials, and personally I find them a bit odd looking. But there’s nothing like reading a book in a comfortable sofa and having that separation between relaxing and sleeping.
Please never apologise for your home being to small its absolutely beautiful... excellent footage I really enjoyed it ....I grow up with all these tips my gran never used harsh cleaning products...little suggestion when cleaning the sink add a lemon with bar carb soda it's Amazing Every blessing new subscriber 🌻
I always like your videos. I would love to see more specific cleaning videos. I too love using baking soda, vinegar and Dr. Bronners soap to clean my house.
thanks a lot for the video! it gives an inspiration for cleaning, and also as I am a newby in the transition to the natural products while cleaning, it was really helpful to find out, which things I can use to clean the spaces at my place. I would be glad to see more videos of this kind for sure, also about cleaning tips and about where to get these swedish clots! thank you for your channel, it is inspirational and really pleasure to watch your videos!
Oh thank you so much ☺️ I will make more videos for sure! I buy Swedish dish cloths locally. I just Google where I can find them since I don’t want to support Amazon! They often sell them in eco or zero waste shops online :)
Actually, baking powder isn’t the same as baking soda. Baking powder contains cream of tartar and cornstarch, costs way more and isn’t used for cleaning as baking powder is. I know it’s easy to confuse them.😊
Thank you for this video! I now feel like I have a very easy and approachable way to clean my sink, which has actually been quite a puzzle for me. Lately I've felt super-overwhelmed by cleaning and house-hold stuff, so to be able to clean one thing successfully brought some joy and freedom to my day. 😊
Love the video, trying to motivate myself to clean so thank you ❤ But I have to ask, what do you mean don’t use oil or butter when cooking in the oven???? How do you roast veggies without burning them??
Thank you for all the helpful advice 👍 Just a question.. I've never tried to use vinegar & baking soda for cleaning but is it good/ okay for the skin? It seems like it's okay because you're not using cleaning gloves.. This would make cleaning so much easier for me because it's much more simpler & there's no need to search for the gloves
So happy to hear that! Thank you :) It is okay for the skin, as long as you don't have any cuts, then vinegar can sting a little bit. As long as you wash your hands after it is absolutely fine. And if you have very sensitive skin you can just use 1 part vinegar diluted in water! I too do not like using gloves!
Hello and thank you for your videos! I also live in US and from Siberia(Russia) originally. I feel like a lot of things in our cultures are very similar. I like a lot a holistic way you use to clean. Do you mind to share what do you use in dishwasher? Do you use any particular brand of detergent? Or is there a holistic way to do it as well? Thank you in advance!
You are the only youtuber I have heard saying 'if you like the content , please subscribe because it helps the channel'.. so honest and polite.. Not the usual condescending ones with 'don't forget to subscribe so that you don't miss the fantastic fabulous me ' type marketing adverts.. Love your channel for its simplicity, and honesty..
Which Swedish dish cloth do you use? I use just water on our wooden floor, but vinegar plus water for the rest of cleaning. I like the smell of vinegar. Smells fresh to me. Thanks for sharing! Gonna try the use of baking soda in my cleaning. Yeah, dust accumulates everywhere. 😄😄😄💗🌼
I love the smell of vinegar too! And baking soda is so effective so give it a try, especially in the bathroom! I use one I bought in New Zealand, they have a cute design with bees on them! They are so expensive here though! Almost 70 kr for one! :o
@@SagaJohanna Oh! That's pretty expensive! But hey, it's worth it. I mean, you put your money where it's needed and not on other things that just becomes clutter etc. :)
Our apartment is a sort of studio apartment, I have an apartment tour if you want to check it out. In New Zealand they often don’t have a separate entrance, which is weird… so I keep my shoes outside. I do wash my bathroom cleaning cloths separately and even separately from each other. So I have one for toilet and one for sink/shower/laundry :)
If you don't use oil or butter while cooking, does that mean you cook without adding anything to the pan beforehand? I would need to make sure i have some kind of non-stick, i guess. My pans are not very good
If you’re worried about actually killing germs you can add a few teaspoons of distilled alcohol to the vinegar cleaning mixture. Vinegar does work as a disinfectant to some degree but not as powerful as alcohol. To avoid strong chemicals you can make your own cleaning spray :)

To stack your spine easily you need your sit bones above your knees. This is what this chair does and it has made my long days of sitting and working feel much better 😁
I love your channel and especially this video ! I've been looking for some natural minimal cleaning routine for quite some time now and I absolutely love yours. I just have one question: How do you clean the inside of the toilet ? Do you also use soda and vinegar or something else, maybe even chemical?
Thank you so so much!! For the inside of the toilet I pour in baking soda and vinegar, put the lid on and leave for 5 minutes. Then I use a toilet brush to clean it. This removes any stains and discoloration and is very effective and non toxic. To clean the inner rim I use my vinegar spray. Once I’m done I like to flush it and then pour some essential oils onto the toilet brush and into the toilet :)
What country are you in? Normally I buy them at my local zero waste/eco store. Like Whole Foods in the USA/UK, or GoodFor in NZ. In Sweden you buy them at the supermarket. Otherwise you can get them online by searching “Swedish dish cloth” :)

Does the distilled vinegar kill actual germs? 🤔
If you’re worried about actually killing germs you can add a few teaspoons of distilled alcohol to the vinegar cleaning mixture. Vinegar does work as a disinfectant to some degree but not as powerful as alcohol. To avoid strong chemicals you can make your own cleaning spray :)
