no the controls are bad. People never stop and think about what is actually bad. This is one of the most creative bosses and was fun to go against. If you control the floaty that is. Plus it's really the player's fault for not getting it down correctly. I mean you have the minigame to practice, plus you have a little bit of time to practice when you slam Clem around.

I have zoomed through the entire game up to this point and have been stuck trying to defeat him for more than a year. Something is definitely up with the controls/single player difficulty. I’m just shocked it made it through testing without anyone paying attention.
The controls were bad, not the execution. The boss was well designed. If you suck at controlling the ducky then you'll end up with a bad execution because it only gets harder from there.
I swear this boss fight requires a good amount of luck. One time, he had landed on the bombs right as they were about to explode, which made the fight only take 2 minutes IF EVEN. I was shook, but every other time I fight him, it takes like 10 minutes to hit him with the bombs, make him dizzy, and pop him. It’s such a difficult fight....

It's not great with the controls for rotating the boat being different depending on which way you're facing. I weirdly think motion controls would have helped, but in general I hate bosses or levels that make you learn an entirely different control scheme just for one bit, because if it works you'd wish it was there more, and if it doesn't it's really frustrating.
The boss is great, but if you suck st controlling the duck, that's on you. People confuse this too much. Bad controls doesn't equal a bad fight. It does make it harder, but it doesn't make it awful. So you're telling me if Steward throw suitcases at you while you're in the duck then it equals poor design?

This is a very interesting fight. When I first fought him I only ran into the spikes a few times. I quickly got a hold of the raft controls.
