just finished all your videos and now subscribed to continue enjoying your work and travel. Thanks for all the hard work that goes into making your videos.
I prefer the next morning shot of the trees with the sun on the mountains in the background The pano worked well but I do agree about the foreground of the pond 📷👍
Very nice. I also prefer the panoramic view. Using the large format looks like an exercise in patience, and also a bit of a luxury to be able to go off on your own to do it. Very peaceful.
Large format photography definitely requires patience and planning ahead. I work freelance and photography is one of my professions. Thanks for watching :)
Just discovered the channel and I'm intrigued with the large format. Really enjoy the videos Shane. As a DSLR photographer it's a really interesting change to watch.
Shane, the sticky shutter in cold weather just needs servicing and new grease. Thats what happened to mine, I had mine serviced here in San Diego, so the shutter is smooth as new, and also the grease the tech used was ideal for cold weather.
That was impressive. I really liked both tree pairings as well as the panorama of the grasses. Still suffering from tripod envy. Looks like a Gitzo. Any details on that and the head?
Thanks, Bernard! It’s a 5 series Gitzo. I like the Ries tripod heads, but they only work with their tripods. A Chinese company, “Luland” makes a copy that works with Gitzo Tripods. They’re available on EBay.
Have to ask a question but first, your large format dance is a joy to watch with the final images being stunning. Q: What are the notes vertically seen on the rear standard, RH side? Thanks
Love the backlit cottonwood image, well done. Amazing how Portra or Ektar can give the dynamic range to make a shot like this work. Were you able to car camp? On BLM land or campsite? I've had a project in mind for a while, to capture the Japanese internment camp on 4x5 monochrome and would like to try a trip to Lone Pine area. Suggestions as to where to stay or camp? Enjoying your videos, thanks for sharing
Thanks, Martin. I use an app called Gaia GPS. It’s a paid subscription, but it allows you to view all of the BLM and Public land regions with a map overlay. Most of the area along the Owens river is public land. Thanks for watching 👍🏼
Good Questions. That might be a topic I discuss in a future video. The quick answer is, both. I digitize my negatives and print via inkjet and lightjet. I also enjoy B&W contact prints.
You've got some real promise and great material to build on. But you need to edit out the extraneous stuff. Watching you cook dinner does not enhance the overall milieu.
Enjoyed your behind the photos film👌
Thank you!
Love the pano of the grasses. So peaceful... and I like seeing your campsite and life there. Looks like a great life. Well done.
Thank you! Some people don't enjoy the camping content, but I feel its all part of the experience. Thanks for watching!
I like your slow pace of shooting 8x10. Nice video.
Really hypnotic depth to these shots of the grass. Takes me into memories of paddling a canoe through wetlands.

Thanks for taking the time to watch them 👍🏼
Wonderful compositions!

My initial goal was that morning light, but that backlit photo is growing on me. Thanks for watching.
The last two are beautiful.
The simplicity and vibrant colors are wonderful.
Just started watching your videos. That panorama is beautiful.

Lovely video! Only 8x10 could make pulling out a Pentax 67 look like reaching for you pocket point and shoot.
Thanks, Tom. The Pentax is a little tank… my favorite “point and shoot”.
I always wanted an 810M. You just gave it justice
They are fantastic cameras. I'm happy to carry around a few extra pounds for an extremely rigid camera.

Thanks, Gevork. I appreciate the info!
Just discovered your channel a few days ago, very nicely done video and motivating to go out and make some photos.
Thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

@@shanedignum Thanks, Shane. It's the head where my setup is weakest. I'll take a look at the Luland version.
Good video! What tripod is this??

Thank you! I actually answer your question in the next video. Stay tuned!

😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Let us know a little bit more about the process after shot, how do you digitalize large format? Is there a special scannet to capture the photo?
In the age of digital, how do go about making a print? Do you make photographic enlargements with print paper and chemistry?
Good Questions. That might be a topic I discuss in a future video. The quick answer is, both. I digitize my negatives and print via inkjet and lightjet. I also enjoy B&W contact prints.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍👍
Nice 6-7 kid
Haha! Thanks
@@shanedignum Don't give it back. Love my 6x7ii. It's a beast but that 105mm f/2.4 takes some of the most beautiful images.

You don't have to watch, haha! Some people enjoy it, some don't.
