Wow, the last shot in this one was wonderfully composed, S-curve leading line with a reflection, mid-ground interest and the alpine glow on the mountaintops. You couldn't ask for much more than that.
Great series brings back many memories of hiking and photographing New Hampshire's White Mountains with my 4x5 back in the 70-90. Now in my early 70s and retiring to Nevada I needed something lighter to hike with and just purchased a Fujifilm mirrorless digital X-T5. Great series and I'll be viewing what you post Shane. Glad I found your series!
Thanks, Ron. I'm happy to have you as a subscriber. If you ever want to get back into film, look into a Nagaoka 4x5 and some compact Fujinon lenses. The Nagaoka or Ikeda Anba might weigh less that your digital kit. Although, digital is very convenient.
I’m thinking the wind ain’t movin’ them rocks. Tough shot with the brighter background late in the day. Makes the subject the scene and light in the background, rather than the rocks. Nice photos. Love your videos. 😊
This has been an informative, inspiring and fun series to watch. I am exploring going back to large format (was back in the 80's when I last touched one!) to slow down and get back to the analog nature of film. So thanks for putting me on that journey! I look forward to the next season.
Love it. Those first boulders in the Milks are the Grandma (L) and Grandpa (R) Peabodies. They have some of the hardest and tallest problems in Ca, being ~45' tall! Imagine climbing those without a rope. I love that composition.
Thanks for bringing us along, looking forward to season 2... maybe you can head over to Tennessee and the Smokies (my neck of the woods) in the coming years.
I discovered your cannel recently and find it very interesting. I like your photos very much and your landscape is so much different to my northern german home. I will have a look at that tripod and head. Till now i am using a wooden Berlebach tripod and an old Plaubel head with my Sinar P 4x5. All that becomes too heavy for me being in my mid 50ies now… ;) A lighter Tripod will let me use the old Sinar a bit longer… I subscribed and will enjoy new videos from you…
@@shanedignum Hello Shane, thank you very much for the hint with Gitzo series 3. My Sinar is just 4x5. It is not much lighter than the 8x10 because the main weight are the parts below the standarts. 8x10 is very tempting but unfortunately i am a bit short with budget and i find film and lensprices are a bit too high at the moment…
Many thanks for season one. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I find myself wishing you hadn't sold the 16 x 20, but that's just me being greedy. Looking forward to season two.
Every time I take out my D800 or D7500 with the tripod, I imagine that I'm doing large format photography. The illusion keeps me going Maybe I should check my medications 😂📷👍

That picture of the boulder came out great. Large format can really humble imposing subjects. Now I feel like I have to watch the rest of the season.
Thank you! That’s my favorite photo from the trip as well.
Just discovered your channel; what a nice calming break from the photo rat race
Thank you! I actually felt like 3 exposures in 2 days was a lot 😂 but if I slow down anymore it would just be videos of me standing still.

Thank you for introducing me to Luland! Thinking of getting one in the near future...

Thanks! It’s definitely on the list. Gas prices right now are forcing me to stay fairly local.

Thank you! I would recommend a 3 series gitzo, the 5 series that I have is a bit heavy. Is your Sinar and 4x5 or 8x10?

Thanks, Bernard! I appreciate you following along. Maybe a ULF camera will make its way to me in the not so distant future ; )
Great video as always.
Thanks for watching!
Huhu 🎊 Shane, happy 1k! Well deserved, enjoy your adventures 👏🤩
Thanks for following along!
Cool videos Shane!⭐️ what camera is used for the videos?
bro you're living the dream
what do you keep it the van for these trips im curious ?
why you put your tires over those rocks?
I sleep in the tent up top, so I was just leveling the bed 👍🏼
This miracle, how much does it cost ? How much housing in New York ?
Great videos. Just found you yesterday. Quick question: which camera bag are you using?
Thank you! I use an Evoc 35L
Really enjoying the channel! Do you cut down your 8x10 film sheets to get 4x10 film?
Thank you! Yes, I cut a sheet of 8x10 in half. Maybe I’ll make a video describing the process.
@@shanedignum that would be cool to learn. I always wondered how difficult it was.
Black and white film ?
(Enjoy your videos: very relaxing).
Thank you. Yes, I have a stock pile of exposed B&W. Currently building a darkroom.
Every time I take out my D800 or D7500 with the tripod, I imagine that I'm doing large format photography. The illusion keeps me going
Maybe I should check my medications 😂📷👍
Haha! It sounds like you're on the correct medication to me.
Luland Produced CNC Technical 3D Large Format Camera Tripod Head LD115
Maybe overexpose it a bit?
