He's got a deep and dark backstory but doesn't let it ruin him. He can be funny and wise. He's unassuming but is an expert marksman and physically strong. He knows when to back down but he isn't a coward. He loves his family and friends. He's not a genius but is very street smart. Not a schemer, but a doer.

I remember my dad playing this game and he just didn't get it at first. When Brucie smashed his head off the wall though he just couldn't stop laughing. It was at that point he embraced the madness and started to get right into the game.
Also the car damage is better, and the NPC injury system, even the emergency vehicles/workers just being seen around town, etc... I felt GTA4 was a MUCH better put together game.
I still enjoy how your understanding of Little Jacob and Badman progresses along with Niko from getting few words to understanding like 90% of what Badman says

Is it really bad that I find Niko the only GTA protagonist that (imho) is worth simping and care for? His personality and the way he interacts with others completely makes him a very compelling character, moreover that he and his conversations to the downtrodden residents and outlaws of Liberty City throughout the game strengthen his characterization further as a man trying to escape his past, the same man who has been consumed in deep vengeance that spent an entire decade to find the one responsible to the deaths of his childhood friends and comrades. We've been given many details about him and his life that he suffered a lot: - _From having an abusive drunkard for a father._ - _Born and been living in a very poor and unwelcoming environment._ - _Having the knowledge of the real reason behind the death of his aunt (Roman's mother) during the wars that he kept it to himself when growing up._ - _Spent his childhood of becoming a child soldier._ - _Witnessing his brother getting killed in action amidst the wars._ - _Surviving the ambush and seeing his squadron consists of his childhood friends getting slaughtered._ - _The realization that one of his comrades/friends that he grew up with.. betrays them for money._ - _After the wars, he was unable to find a legal job with the given previous experiences, skills and circumstances that led him to become a criminal for a living._ - _Almost drown somewhere in the Adriatic Sea after a shipment gone wrong and has been targeted by his employer Ray Bulgarin, believing him to be the cause of it._ And the rest would be his journey in Liberty City, which is the entirety of the game that we immerse ourselves into. RDR2 has probably done the best at making my cold desensitized violent gamer heart to feeling bad about harming NPC's. most other games they feel less alive.

Man, Good compilation. My favourite character. He has just the right amount Pathos and and dry humour to be the straight man that ties all the craziness together and make it some what beleivable. Plus, you have the added bonus of nostalgia baiting me. First game I played properly with my dad. I still get a laugh that my dad, who'd been driving trucks as profession for fifteen years at that point couldn't shake off the habits of following the rules of the road when he started. He'd wait in traffic, drive on the right side of the road, follow what he thought was the speed limit for each area and stop at traffic lights XD

Its also the only GTA that put the playful satire on the back burner in favor of a story thats a lot darker than usual. GTA V put so much more time into banter and one-liners, but it works because of how goofy the characters are. But Niko is too tragic for that kind of humor to work, and they found a totally different kind of dark humor that works for him. As much as Trevors running joke tries to have him be the man with no fucks to give, Niko IS the man with no fucks to give.

Niko is my favorite protagonist in gta series (probably because im slavic myself lol Polish) sure 5 was fun but damn gta 4 was like a movie or something and niko is a most human gta protagonist we will see how rockstar Create lucia and jason in gta 6

Its also the only GTA that put the playful satire on the back burner in favor of a story thats a lot darker than usual. GTA V put so much more time into banter and one-liners, but it works because of how goofy the characters are. But Niko is too tragic for that kind of humor to work, and they found a totally different kind of dark humor that works for him. As much as Trevors running joke tries to have him be the man with no fucks to give, Niko IS the man with no fucks to give.
