    Man, if only you weren't adverse to the Sauconys... would've loved a direct vs bounce lineup as well as a discussion on the pro 3 vs elite endorphins they've got, but I'm still happy with the new podcast and videos! Keep up the good work - I'm definitely enjoying it!

    Another really good video. You do such great analysis of shoes and brands. It makes your videos really interesting to listen to. Have you ever considered doing videos on the histories of brands? Or of some iconic shoes? Or maybe even some analysis of the brand strategies of the various brands.

      I’ve done that exact thing for Nike, I have a long video going through the fully history for Nike from 2017 to 2023. I’ve also done more recent history for Adidas. Just scroll through my early videos and you’ll find them.
      I’ll likely do something for Asics in 2024.
      I’m writing a podcast that will go into running shoe history overall, though it’s not far enough along to even be on my content plan.
      I’m glad you find my content enjoyable!

    I am a heel striker and slow runner but this shoe is SUPER fast for me and I have no aches or something like that after long fast runs or any other run.. The Edge plus makes me slap my feet and it drives me crazy.. The Metaspeed Sky Plus is very stable and fits my wide feet perfectly. ❤❤❤

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  Год назад +2

      That makes sense as the orientation of the plate in this shoe, the ample forefoot foam and the aggressive toe rocker...will defintely get you up onto the forefoot of the shoe and left the magic happen with the materials...after your inital heel strike.
      Whereas the Edge+ will just slap down and feel harsh for you.
      As a forefoot stirker I can run in either comfortably, but I do prefer the Sky+, even with the issues I discussed here. If I want to run in the Edge+, I'll just stick to my beloved Vapoerfly 3...which is a MUCH better design and use of materials for the plate configuration (VF and Edge+ share the same basic idea in where the plate is).

    I absolutely love my Sky 1. Fit and lockdown is outstanding. Midsole is snappy, fast, responsive especially for me who strike forefoot. The closest comparison for me is the Vaporfly 1. The outsole is built like a tank too with 500km and counting and still going strong. I can't recommend it highly enough. Hope the Sky+ has the same magic now it's going for half price.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  Год назад +1

      I think the fit has gotten much better in the Sky+ and the outsole material is mind blowing how durable it is. The geometry is much more extreme in the Sky+ though… it runs like a totally different shoe.

      Unlikely… I’m not opposed to Mizuno shoes, they are fairly common here in Taiwan too… I’ll keep an eye on what they release in 2024. I do agree it’s an interesting shoe but maybe needs another generation or two.

    Mine are half size up as I saw them half price. They are still a good fit. A little long but i prefer that room at the end of a shoe. Did a 10K on light trails sunday mainly on compacted gravel and no wear at all from the run.

      The durability (and grip, to a fault) of the outsole is mind blowing. I'm not sure how Asics has done it.
      Also the upper locks down so well, you can get away with the shoe being a little large (long), if that is how you like them to fit. Also really well done.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  Год назад +1

      The Sky+ is significantly more aggressive and extreme in toe rocker and toe spring than either of those shoes. The stiffness and rigidity of the plate only adds to it. If you lie significant toe rocker…. This is likely your shoe.

    For less foam on the forefoot, you could try the Edge +, it's basically the main difference from the Sky +

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  Год назад

      There are other massive differences. I have a bunch of videos discussing my thoughts on all of that. Start with the “stride vs cadence” video and then the “Superblast, a sign of the future of running shoes”… bother oinked in the description of the video.

    • @Fozzee.1970
      @Fozzee.1970 Год назад

      I tried the edge and they felt very dull to me. No better than a firm daily trainer. The forefoot foam in the Sky plus makes it a completely different experience. Most runners whether stride or cadence style have preferred the Sky plus.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  Год назад

      Agree, for that reason. Which is is big point of why I made this video. The Sky+ is the Metaspeed Sky+ cares about and really is evolving in exciting directions with their tech.

  • @WiseGuyFTW
    @WiseGuyFTW Год назад

    I think the problem that I see with tripping in this shoe is probably more to do with your running technique / style. For example, if you are lifting your legs instead of pushing/rolling on your feet etc.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  Год назад +1

      Agree fully. I did say the issue is a “me” problem. However, I’ve never had any other shoe take me down like this one, and I have run in a lot of shoes. So while it is me… this shoe also contributes due to geometry.

  • @cameronthaijohnson
    @cameronthaijohnson Год назад

    This shoe really doesn't work for me either. It absolutly punishes and wears out my quads unlike any other shoe. The extremely thick, broad, stiff plate combined with the quite firm foam and the geometry of the shoe that really requires a big/long stride with a powerful forefoot strike is just not natural for me. It require a lot of force slamming into the forefoot and a big driving knee. It really is quite similar to the Alphafly v1 in wanting you to strike/land that way with a big stride and heavy forefoot strike, but the difference is how soft the Alphafly v1 is. The foam and airpods up front compress and rebound way easier. The geometry and big powerful stride requirement is still unnatrual for me, but the softness/compression happens easy enough that it still works pretty well just at those marathon pace ranges. It still isn't my top pick or the most natural, but it kinda works. The Metsapeed Sky+ takes that and adds way more foam firmness and plate stiffness. It really needs a ton of force slamming into the forefoot and just leaves my quads dead really quick and I just can't get it to turn over naturally at faster paces either.
    I'm relatively fast too (sub 16 5k, just raced my first half high 1:13), but I am pretty light ~130lbs and 5'7" and I'm just not naturally a big striding super heavy forefoot striker. The shoe would definitely fit the bill for someone who wants a similar geometry to the Alphafly v1 in a less compressive package though.
    For me, the Vaporfly 3, Endorphin Pro 3, Endorphin Elite, and Takumi Sen 9 are my favorite racers. The Adios Pro 3 midsole is up there but the upper is atrocious. I enjoy the Rocket X2 a lot as well.
    I've never had another super shoe destroy my legs in the same way though. The Metaspeed Sky v1 had similar issues, but not nearly as bad and the foam was definitely softer. It's more comparable to how beat up the Edge+ made me feel. The foam is still too firm for how stiff/broad/thick the plate is and the amount of rocker, but the geometry still works a little more naturally for me so it doesn't beat me up in quite the same way.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  Год назад

      Ya, I mentioned this in my marathon training series… but the Sky+ absolutely destroyed my legs as well. Recovery would take days, where with ZoomX I’m good the next day.
      You sound like the ultimate candidate for a Takumi Sen 9.
      Totally agree. The Sky+ is the same basic ideas as an Alphafly. Put the plate close to the foot and use it to really load the material under it. No AirPods here obviously, but similar engineering concept.

  • @Ben-yw8be
    @Ben-yw8be Год назад +2

    Great shoe but not for me. The Edge+ works better for my stride. The foam is more evenly distributed and is much snappier. I feel like I’m in a racing flat in that shoe than the Sky+. I also find the Edge+ more stable. Other than that, the Sky+ is an awesome shoe. Most pro runners use it, I get why.

      I'll take a Vaporfly 3 over either, anyday... I am a Nike runner at heart...but I do love the Sky+ and the Magic Speed 3 (the better Edge...as you've heard me say before.) 🤙🏻

    Sagasu, just an observation: your thumbnails are clean and really professional, but it doesn't look like Sagasu Running thumbnail, if you know what I mean. It looks like any other shoe review video thumbnail and if I didn't read the channel name I would've skip this.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  Год назад +1

      I actually have 6 thumbnail styles I use on the channel, plus the one-off or special. I intentionally have kept the review thumbnails very simple and clean, where-as the Podcast thumbnails are going the exact opposite direction. Because, I want the shoe to be there "hero" of the thumbnail, it is also what people are visually scanning for.
      However, not that I'm letting some of my design influence really bleed through on the Podcast thumbnails... I think it's time to start pushing these review thumbnails further typographically. There are a few new things in this one, but I will keep pushing the typography more and more...
      This will be something I likely make a video about someday. The design process of this channel.
