  • The Lydian mode is foundational to jazz-it's a root element in Miles Davis and John Coltrane's playing among many many others, but it sticks its neck out plenty in other genres, from Fleetwood Mac's classic "Dreams" to Jane's Addiction's "Jane Says."
So what's the magic of this mode and what can it to do to spice up your playing? Let's find out!
Thanks to Eddie Haddad from Guitar Mastery Method for working with us on this project. If you want to go deeper after you make it through our 30 Day Guitar Challenge, you can check them out here: guitarmasterymethod.com/

8:16 Great lesson as usual i find your teaching method to be excelent. Learning the modes & wandering is retraining my ear to recognize tones that fit together.thank you.

Great stuff … great videos… for the average guy, or gal, just trying to get better…. Yep…. I’ve watched each one. Which means, I have given my time…. The most precious thing I have, to watch and learn. Thank you!!!

I’m enjoying these lessons very much. So straightforward. I’m loving the approach to the modes. It’s so boring playing linear scales. This musical approach is much more interesting and enjoyable. Thank you so much!

At the end of this series I hope you will do One, which covers each mode… simple and quick so I do not have to download each one of these. So, we all know the wandering… so we have that covered…. Just the modes, back to back, so we only need one practice video!!!!!

I am really enjoying this series. The ‘bite size’ approach with simple practice techniques has been very helpful. Will you have a video on how to use/implement the modes? Eg. Is D Dorian used over a D chord in the key of C, or the C chord in the key of C? You can tell by my question I am a bit confused. Thanks.
