One of the best explanations of compression I've seen/heard. You focused on the result and the "why" of using compression musically. The bass sample waveforms illustrate what's happening very clearly. Thanks!
This was a good tutorial and explained compression well. However I feel it takes the dynamics out (e.g., making ghost notes louder, squishing down peaks). While I feel it does have its place, on all the examples given, I preferred the uncompressed signal. It just seemed cleaner. I really prefer having the wide range of peaks and quiet notes. I work hard on my dynamics and want to hear them as played. This is just my opinion, everyone needs to try things out and do what works best for them.
Around the 9 minute mark - how to play Hotel California without getting blocked by Don Henley 😂 overall good video on compression. Definitely a misunderstood and misused effect! This helps for sure
Is this song at 8:45 (Ghost Notes) available to jam to? So cool. Shazam identified it as ruclips.net/video/GDMC3zy0R8I/видео.html but it has only similar elements.

I like using compression after drive pedals. Picks up so much extra goodness and you still get the dynamic flexibility of the drives
This is best ever explanation I have ever heard. I love how it was related to mom knocking on the door lol.

I thought your beach vs. asphalt comparison was a good word picture. This was a nice overview of compression. Nicely done.
Your use of analogy to explain the process is excellent! It teaches without "talking down" to the uninitiated. Great work. I learned a lot.
Excellent explanation! Thank you very much. 18:57
Thanks for watching!
best vid on compression on youtube. thank you
These are wonderful insights. Thank you so much!!
Excellent explanation! Very good examples! Hooray for our Moms! Thanks, Philip!

During the beginning of the uncompressed slap bass section, is it just me or does it sound like a pop from hitting the pickup?
