    Your review is the best on the internet. I can't believe how well you can speak on both of these trailers.

    I like the diamond c trailers…but I like the design of the pj jacks. Lose some room in the box but less things to catch…thanks for the videos, trying to figure out which brand dump trailer I’m going with

    Should I buy a bumper pull first or a gooseneck

    • @ThriftyGarage
      @ThriftyGarage  2 года назад

      Depends on your needs or weight requirements? Typically for a beginner I would recommend a bumper pull on a lighter weight application.

      @@gabrielsalazar6648 Goosenecks (GN) are generally more expensive. Personally I believe a GN trailer has a better towing experience. GN have better weight distribution and handle better at higher speeds or even if your load isn't fully distributed correctly on the trailer. Bumper Pull (BP) certainly have their place. You save some cost since they require less materials. You also have more towing options. A full size van or SUV could tow, utility bed or even a truck with a ladder rack. Lots more options. You can even carry more items in a truck bed with a bumper pull, although you need to be careful with too much payload in the bed as it will subtract from your useable tongue weight capacity. Find what trailer is right for you not only now but ask yourself what you will need in the future. When I started landscaping I used the dump trailer and it worked perfect to tow equipment as well as materials. Now that I have been in business a little longer I purchased the 24' equipment trailer. I wanted something that I could carry a full length (20') section of pipe on easily as well as equipment and attachments easily. Eventually I would like to get a deck over trailer or a tilt deck.

    I agree.... looks like they are pretty evenly matched. Pro's and Cons cancel out across the board.
    I've been wanting a dump trailer. This gives me some things to look for.
    One personal opinion... that toolbox is Mickey Mouse. What were they thinking? It's like, we need an enclosure for the pump and battery.... how about we just throw up a box and stick it in. We can advertise it as a storage box as well.... and the fab shop ran with it!
    Nice comparison. Thanx.

    Good review and nice catch on the LITTLE THINGS! (Always the LITTLE THINGS on anything!) On the DIAMOND C brakes, I would check for availability of better metallic or CERAMIC brake material. Less quality material tends to give more "FADE" when you brake so check it out. Maybe some specialty place has an upgrade. Good job and Thanks! Sonny

    You kept mentioning the chain length and not being able to crisscross them. Why do you need/want to do that on a gooseneck? The point of the crisscross on a bumper pull is to make a “basket” in case the hitch becomes disconnected….. what are you gonna catch on a gooseneck? i think its just an old habit that you’re not thinking thru. Since you’ve been towing it without them crossed, obviously its not a big deal.

      You are right. Old habits die hard!

      Ummm...its actually the law. I go thru scale houses everyday! They must be crossed, even on a gooseneck.

      Do you know a reference number to the actual code or law? I can see why you would want to cradle a bumper pull by crossing the chains. Gooseneck is a little less obvious but I suppose that the neck could puncture a hole in the bed if not crossed it would have more travel. Unfortunately on the Diamond C I need to get longer chains in order to cross otherwise they will bind up when cornering.

    @20:08 you talk about people talking crap about PJ paint. I live in the Notheast (where the road salt SUCKS) I have an Easydumper trailer that is 20 years old and has been majorly abused, but oddly enough the paint (what's left of it) doesn't look that bad. My neighbor on the other hand, has a PJ dump that is only like 8 years old and the trailer looks HORRIBLE !!!!! He doesn't use his for construction like I do, and still his paint didn't stand up well at all. It is full of rust "blossoms" where sheets of paint come off after a small scratch turns into huge mess. I do have a PJ flatbed that I rarely use in the winter and it held up okay. I wouldn't call it great, just okay. The areas at the back of the trailer, the paint has come off in large sheets, especially inside the ramps.

    You should always keep your dump bed propped up so it doesn't hold water just lift it and put a 4x4 on the rails and set the bed back down. You will always have clearance for the lift handle then.

      It’s usually parked downhill and when the tongue comes off the ball it elevates the bed enough to drain.

    Your taking your measurements with a loaded vs unloaded trailer … not accurate.
