Looks very nice. Sadly, I picked up the Vanquest Carbide 8 before seeing this and I am…not thrilled. It’s my own fault, but the bag is just too small for what I want to carry. iPad Pro technically fits, but doesn’t leave much room for anything else. Definitely going to end up getting another “in between” bag as a result, perhaps the Pakt! Thank you for the recommendation.
I think you’ll appreciate the size and shape. I’m still wearing it daily and feel like it gives me the best of both worlds as an intersection between tomtoc and the alpaca vertical sling
I first bought the Alpaca Mini Tech Bag - Did not find the "perfect" place to stand up my iPhone Pro upright & my iPad mini fit a little to snug I returned it & got the Tech Bag (mid size). I have been using it for 3 months while traveling in my Van Conversion in the Southwest. Now I have the "right" place for the most used stuff ( phone - wallet - keys - AirPods - lip balm). Every other EDC (and there is a sh*t ton that actually fits) They all found their place -- eventually! Having a pen in the loop impedes using the pockets below it - so I don't use it to hold my pen or anything for that matter. You get used to reaching for the side grab handle or at times just man handling it by the top. I exclusively carry it a sling bag (on hikes, shoping & bicycle rides) and have no interest in the accessory strap to stablize it. Since you access the bag as a sling while you are wearing it from the back a Pro Tip would be to always access the bag from the back - that way with muscle & brain memory it facilities locating what's in the bag - For me "often' without having to even look - For Real Son... The ability to stand it up is so nice as the mini did not stand up on its own & that was a PITA. So - daily use for 3 months I am very happy with the bag. The bigger one would only oblige me to add more stuff in it. - so I'll stick with this ohe. BTW fully loaded the bag weighs 5 lbs 9 oz & appears to manage it just fine!!!
Nice! Dialing in the bags can be tough, too big, too small, and just right. Glad to hear you found something that works for your use case. I’m in the market for a bag between my EDC sling and a backpack. Bought the Vanquest Carbide 8, but I hate it (going to do a video giving it away at some point), just too small for my use case. Considering a few others at the moment, primary use case is holding iPad Pro with keyboard, AirPods Max, and some tools. Cheers
You got that totally right. That magnet is a gimmick and annoying. I don’t remove the pack that way. Alpaca totally missed the boad by not having a zipper on that back pocket. It’s a travel sling for crying out loud. You want to secure your passport not put it in an open pocket like that. Put a zipper on and I will buy that sling tomorrow! But alpaka is smart they will do it in v2 so all you v1 owners have to buy it again
Everyone seems to complain bout the back pocket not having a zipper but it's a small flat compartment for the quick and easy access. If you worry bout your passport or valuables falling out that's what the other two zippered compartments are for 🤦♀️
@@splashmoby that wasn’t the point but ok. If you really needed it to be with access then leave the zipper open. But something like passport should be up against the body for maximum security. But everyone has their own opinion so it’s all good
Flight Sling: 2.0L Vertical: 2.2L Tomtoc: 4L It’s interesting because the flight sling feels so much bigger to me than the vertical sling, and just as big (relative to what I’m aiming to carry) as the Tomtoc, with the added organizational benefits. Hope this helps
You could get the "Alpaka Bravo Sling Max v2" for your laptop. They have that one in black, with a bright orange interior.
That looks super cool, and would fit my usecase(s) nicely. Will check it out!
@HeyDerFolks The normal Bravo Sling is also nice and large enough for a 11" tablet. The slings with the orange interior are from a limited edition.
Look at the Pakt 15L-cross between a sling and a backpack.

For a big guy i may go ahead and pull the trigger in this since you had a ok experience with tomtac

Double click the Olight, and you get turbo.
Roger that, technically does turbo have to come on by default for it to be considered a tactical light?
Not to sure. I think high beam and strobe make it tactical. Could be wrong.

Facts. Luckily I’m still okay with it without that back pocket, but for a travel sling they missed the mark
