Just a little fact about the first track lyrics: Young K wrote it when he rode a taxi and finished it when he got off from that taxi. In a span of 1 hour only.
YoungK has almost no vibrato, has a great range, is insanely in tune, and has the most neutral tonal color among Day6 singers. Thats why he is a super harmonizer and background vocal. He makes the other 3 sound better.
Ability to control vibrato is not easy. I am still working on it because I sing barbershop that vibrato is number 1 no no. It disables the harmony lock and ring. YoungK harmonizes so well because he controls his vocal well and stays on key. His breathing control and transitioning skill are also stable compared to Jae and Wonpil.
I always listen to Dowoon's drumming. This kid has been thinking about ways to give Day6 songs unique or exciting groove since day1. He is like a sponge learning and improving all the time. I have never heard him lagging or missing a beat at radio promo or live playing. He's as steady as a digital metronome. He is also versatile in his drumming style. Giving how many influences Day6 songs got, Dowoon has to be good at changing tempo and style at the drop of a hat. His drumming really gives Day6 songs heartbeat and makes these songs beathe fresh air at every listen.
Day6 has help. JYPE employs studio musician to help lay down tracks. Musicians talk shop and trade tips, especially drummers (if there are more than 1 drummer in the room; from my experience). Drummers are always playing and learning (if you stop you get rusty). The 5 guys would all contribute ideas on melody, rhythm, progression, and arrangement. Dowoon has to hold his own when it comes to his part. Based on the videos of him talking about his drumming during EveryDay6, he was more than capable. He was confident, thirsty (for more), and passionate when it came to drumming.
@@33Jenesis Sadly if you look at the "session" song credits in the physical album, not a single track credits Dowoon as drummer, so what we're hearing here isn't actually him playing. There's no drum credited for any song besides Beautiful Feeling at all, actually. I'm assuming what we're hearing as drums falls under the credit of "Computer Programming"
The drum recording is always isolated and a coordinator is on hand. But it is Dowoon who put down the drum line, not computer or recording coordinator. Studio version mostly is more artificial in nature unless it was billed as acoustic or unplugged. Music show Day6 only does singing live (background vocal isnt live). When it comes to concerts, they are live. The outcome may not be studio version perfect but can't be too far off. The magic of live playing is the spontanrous moments to ad lib because it feels right (it is what we musicians call "high" as if taking ecstasy). The key to live stage success is drum and bass. They lock down tight and everything else can follow and flourish. Yoon Dowoon holds the key to Day6 concert success (haven't heard anyone who'd been to Day6 concert not raving about it).
Fun fact about Marathon: Young K wrote it last year to be included in Moonrise but it didn’t get approve in time so they try for it to be included in their next album, Youth Part 1 but it didn’t fit with the concept. A year later, Marathon finally got released :)
I am amazed by Kevin's sonic knowledge and association. He must have listened to all the popular groups and singers from 1900 to now and remember all. His brain can quickly discern similarity and influence. He will be great as a producer or a critic (dont know about his creative ability to be a composer).
It doesn’t matter what he plays or if he plays any instrument, his ability to free associate musically is what’s amazing. I have some but I don’t listen to enough songs to refine it. He has.
listen i'm not one to click on a video right away,, but yall i'm so in love with this album, marathon caught my heart so much and hurt road lowkey made me wanna sob and i'm just,, so proud,, of em,, and i was just looking forward to your opinions!! thankyou soso much for reviewing this album!!
I definitely agree when Kevin said that the energy from Headache carries to 121U and I think that’s a good decision by them to arrange it that way. I remember listening to the album the first time and noticing the energy high I was having building up when listening to Headache and then to 121U!
oh my god i realised that 121u = want to want you, but did kevin just say the chord progression was also 2 to 1. Day6 is really out there wilding like this??
my fav tracks of the album are 121U and headache, they make me rly nostalgic for some reason? I love the entire album a lot, DAY6 produces bop after bop, people should honestly stop sleeping on them.
I think this might be my favorite Day6 album. I love their other albums too but there's usually at least one song where I think, I might skip this one today - but this album I don't think I'll feel that way about any of the songs. The song that grabbed me right away was 121U, but the one that got stuck in my head for days was Hurt Road. I like to sing along to the title track the most, and So Cool makes me laugh because the lyrics bring to mind the image of Day6 strutting down the street giving people finger guns and admiring their reflection in shop windows. Beautiful Feeling is a fansong I believe, and it does what it's meant to I guess because when it closes off the album I'm just overflowing with affection for Day6 hahaha. Umu and Kevin, thanks for the video, I enjoyed enjoying the album with you :)
The ending of how Youngk sang isn't a voice crack. It's a stylistic choice, sort of like a groan Beautiful Feeling is a fan dedicated song to celebrate the anniversary.
Same like Kevin, the first time I listen to Days Gone By I was like just 'ok, it's good, but I expect more' But after I listen the whole album, all songs from Remember Us, I changed my mind that Days Gone By was really amazing and I love it so much. I think it's because the title track have a different vibes and deserve to be a title track. And when I listen to this album one by one from the first song (hurt road) till the last song (beautiful feeling), it gave me such a random feelings, but IT'S HEALING! From the fresh intro, then I wanna dancing around, hard rocking, goes slow, and then the Beautiful Feeling was the best to put it on the last track in this album. It gave me such a beautiful feeling after listened to this album. Thanks Day6 for giving us such a beautiful album. Thanks for Umu and Kevin too for this reaction. I always love your videos, same like I love day6's songs ❤
I immediately loved Days Gone By, just because I love that 80’s sound. I also think it’s a testament to the band’s versatility, how they can make such an authentic homage to a different style while sounding great. Day6 really are a fantastic band, jacks of all trades.
OH MY GOD. Saaame!!! I love each song but my favorite would be HURT ROAD, just because it's a DAY6 sound through and through, AND MARATHON!!! Gosh that song is just soooo fun. And of course BEAUTIFUL FEELING is that song that automatically occupies a huge space in your heart even upon first listen. ❤️
This EP is indeed super duper good. Talking about the pressure for Day6 to top every EP😂 Listening to the increasingly sophisticated songs in this EP, I hope Day6 would issue a full score book in the future with rhythm guitar chords, solo guitar line, keyboard, bass line, and drum chart for the more interesting or intricately arranged Day6 songs. I know every time Day6 drops new songs, a couple of major guitar sites some users would upload chord chart (and bass line) immediately. It's nice but I'd love to read a full score just to see arrangement in print, especially the contrasting parts.
And the most amazing abt Day6 is that apart from Wonpil & mebbe DW, non of them have 'real' or professional musical training, yet their music groupings in the past & esp this album are so wonderfully put together, genre, theme wise etc
True. Sungjin learned to play guitar and YoungK learned to play bass for Day6. Jae was a decent guitar player but became amazing after Day6. Once it was decided that Studio J would debut a band, these guys abandoned dance practice to concentrate on instrument, singing, and composing. Dowoon joined Day6 rather late. It meant his drumming was good enough to pass JYP evaluation without much learning curve.
I really like all the songs in this album. I even love Marathon since listening to the album spoiler and the full version makes me fall for them even more. Their harmonization is always on point. TT and So Cool is just COOL as its name. The lyrics make me so damn surprised. Young K have never written something like this before. Hard Road is so emotional and touched. I like it so much too. First time listening to Headache made me really headache but I don’t even know why I ended up by liking the hook part so much. 121U is read as “Want To Want You”. The song name make the contrast between the name and the lyrics because they sing “I don’t want to want you”. TT They all sound really good~~~~~
i'm wating for day6 new album review!!!! today is Day6's christmas concert in seoul. so, l'm really really expecting to hearing about 121U and marathon 😊
You will really appreciate much more every track of Day6 once umu and kevin react to it. Because you will more understand how Day6 made every song in this album.
Okay! I need to get this off of my chest. It's really late at night and I am emotional. You guys introduced me to day6 and I will be forever thankful to you. I watched one of your reations to them (I think it was "man in a movie") and I was totally blown away by their music. I went and checket it out and I got even more blown away by just how pure and unique and personal and authentic it was, with this style that you could recognize as day6's but without the songs ever being boring or repetitive. Their songs can be simple and yet sooooo good, Like "when you love someone" which is literally my fav! they also can be complicated or rather sophisticated and popy or whathever they feel like they want to make them sound like! They are different but also soooo "Day6" like, and that's because they make music genuinely which you can hear and feel in every song. So yeah, I wanted to thank you Umu for being precious and sharing your love for them with us and introducing the reactors and us to them as well as keeping this channel alive and introducing us to other amazing artists. From the bottom of my heart, Thank you.
I have always believed that all these boys are musical geniuses but listening to your reactions justify that hahaha. I knew they are great! They really are! 😎😍😎😍
Yeeees I was so excited for this reaction! Umu's face during the entirety of So Cool is such a mood lmao, and Kevin mentioning Beastie Boys was like a galaxy brain moment for me (I also knew it sounded like something but couldn't place what). Day6 continue to amaze with their incredible versatility, and still have yet to write an even remotely bad song
Fun fact: Musically, Headache probably is more similar in vibe with Warning, but story-wise, 121U is the actual some sort of the continuation from Warning. (This is what Sungjin said himself.) Also, here's what the first thing that came to my mind when I listened to So Cool, "Fuck. They got 80s sound for the title track and now 90s sound in one of the sidetrack? THESE GUYS WENT FUCKING WILD WRITING THIS ALBUM!!!"
121U is exactly the sound I hoped to hear from them and days gone by is everything I never knew I needed to hear from them and while it's not the most musically complex song, it makes me stupidly happy how 80s it sounds :D these two are my current faves but oh my the whole album is SO good, they really outdid themselves this year.
Thanks for letting us hear your thoughts on the album ^^ it's really nice to see you guys just listening to and discussing the music together - absolutely friendship goals.
I honestly think that this is my favorite album. Before shoot me, The day was my favorite album. And then shoot me. And now this is my new favorite from day6. I really like the style (?) Like, i dont exactly love or hate a spcific genre, if its good then i listen to it, but like, this album is really my style and even i dont know what my "style" is exactly. Like, it just clicks and connects with me.
not sure if anyone said this yet but beautiful feeling is a song that's specifically written for the fans :)! i think it's supposed to be how you guys described it - comforting and easy to listen to
Woke up, grabbed my phone, opened youtube, saw this reacttothek reaction, CLICKED SO FAST WHILE FEELING EXCITED AS F***. 😂 always great to start the day with reacttothek and Day6 😍
I enjoyed watching ur reviews umu! I’ve never watched a whole album review before, but I’m curious in how others listen and react to Day6. When the part young k raps at so cool played, same gurlll same!! 🙌🏼
Day6 just gets me!!! Love the songs. Love Beautiful Feeling as well. When it came out, it was just perfect with the meaning behind the song. Being a MyDay this song will def be very dear to my heart. And hearing DoWoon sing was just ahhh... I felt so proud! Beautiful feeling felt similar to the way I felt when I heard EXO's Promise for the first time
I couldn't agree more that beautiful feeling is a very comforting song while the rest are very fresh you used the words I was looking for to explain the album thank you
Remember Me is such a good, solid album. Honesty one of my faves of day6 to date!!! Youth part 1 was good but I feel like youth part 2 is where all the gems are 😍😍 the technicalities in this album are insane, especially in Marathon!!!! My fave songs are probably days gone by, headache, so cool and marathon!! I also loveeee 121U (basically them all oops!). The only things I could critique the album for are it’s placement of hurt road (I think it’s a strange way to start the album) and also beautiful feeling (which i LOVE as a single but feel it is very out of place with the rest of the album concept)! either way, amazing album and I can’t wait to see them perform some of the songs live!
I so wanna meet you two one day ㅠㅠ your reactions on day6's songs and every k songs ever is. Relatable af i was like... "oh how could this be," The chords progression in the song marathon when i first listen made me go "HEY JUDE????" by the beatles ㅠㅠ And the fact that hurt road's song structure is, I'd describe as "where is the chorus" but now it think i found it thanks to you guys 🤣 THANKS FOR THIS VID UMU AND KEVIN
Lmao umu’s reaction when YoungK’s rap part in So Cool song is definitely like me! I cant follow the lyrics at that part, but keep doing a weird dance 🤣🤣
Just a little fact about the first track lyrics: Young K wrote it when he rode a taxi and finished it when he got off from that taxi. In a span of 1 hour only.
anisa aprilia he rode a taxi for one hour? Dammnn boii is rich hohoho
We stan a lyricist
Aishah Azwa i think this person meant that he got off the taxi then spent 1 hour to wrote this song
@@illover91 young k did write the lyrics when he was on that taxi ride and finish it by the time he got off the taxi
anisa aprilia how to pronounce youngk : T A L E N T
YoungK has almost no vibrato, has a great range, is insanely in tune, and has the most neutral tonal color among Day6 singers. Thats why he is a super harmonizer and background vocal. He makes the other 3 sound better.
Grunt Hog that’s why he’s my favorite, his voice is so versatile and clear
I think his lack vibrato is more of a choice. He does some in non Day6 songs.
Like that person said, vibrato for YoungK is more of a choice, because he really does have nice vibrato in some slower day6 songs
imo, He is Day6’s Swiss Army knife because his voice is so versatile due to his range and because he can rap and sing main melodies/ harmonies
I always listen to Dowoon's drumming. This kid has been thinking about ways to give Day6 songs unique or exciting groove since day1. He is like a sponge learning and improving all the time. His drumming has always been commended in every reaction video I've seen. I wonder if he's the one who composes the beats himself.

This reaction is so good. Thank you
I honestly think that this is my favorite album.
My favourite album by Day6 😍
not sure if anyone said this yet but beautiful feeling is a song that's specifically written for the fans :)! i think it's supposed to be how you guys described it - comforting and easy to listen to
One word needed “AMAZING” review thank you guys so muchh👍🏻👍🏻
Hurt road make me crying over 2 hours :)
Woke up, grabbed my phone, opened youtube, saw this reacttothek reaction, CLICKED SO FAST WHILE FEELING EXCITED AS F***. 😂
always great to start the day with reacttothek and Day6 😍
I enjoyed watching ur reviews umu!
Beautiful feeling felt similar to the way I felt when I heard EXO's Promise for the first time
omg ive been anticipating this video!!! yesss
121U is my constant go to song right now. This whole album was such a good variety, yet it all went together so well.
I like *Marathon* the most.
You should react to got7 miracle or listen to their repackaged album
And react to GOT7- I wont let you go
read the caption...
Same umu same...marathon is my favorite song! The message behind it is sooo good! I love it so much! 💚💚💚
headache reminds me of the game theory intro
I so wanna meet you two one day ㅠㅠ your reactions on day6's songs and every k songs ever is. Relatable af i was like... "oh how could this be,"
The chords progression in the song marathon when i first listen made me go "HEY JUDE????" by the beatles ㅠㅠ
And the fact that hurt road's song structure is, I'd describe as "where is the chorus" but now it think i found it thanks to you guys 🤣
THANKS FOR THIS VID UMU AND KEVIN
121U and So cool (rly like how jarring this one haha) are my current favorite jams atm but I love the other tracks as well ❤️❤️
So cool and marathon are probably my favourites and kevin's comments are so on point!! 😄
trust and listen DAY6
i was giggling all the way through so cool just waiting for youngk's rap
All the songs are so gooooood 😭❤❤ but nowadays I'm in love with So cool.
That Marathon intro uses the same sequence as the 'nanana' bit in Hey Jude. That's probably the Beatles vibe you picked up.
I really learned so much from this reaction, thank you
Lmao umu’s reaction when YoungK’s rap part in So Cool song is definitely like me! I cant follow the lyrics at that part, but keep doing a weird dance 🤣🤣
