- Back before Turner Classic Movies, this was the go-to channel for uncut, commercial free, old-school Hollywood gems, hosted by Bob Dorian and Nick Clooney (George's father). Nowadays, AMC has become unrecognizable.

This was when AMC was awesome. Great old movies, no commercials, and uncut. Thank you for the look back, Fred.
You're welcome, Nick.
I used to love their Halloween Fest. They showed the classic Universal horror movies and Vincent Price movies.
I just can't live without a good classic from time to time. I even go as back as silent films, thanks to Dad. They keep me grounded. 😊
Wow, In the Mood. 🎵🎶🎵
💜🤟
This was when AMC was great there were no commercials great timeless movies and uncut, today is unrecognizable.
“this was the go-to channel for uncut, commercial free, old-school Hollywood gems…Nowadays, AMC has become unrecognizable.”
Today it is an unrecognizable cess pool of commercialism, gratuitous shock (except when classic films like Good Fellas are hypocritically/comically censored) and political agendas…Like everything else.
Thank you for posting this.
You're welcome, Paul.
Growing up in Jimmy Stewart's home town, I have seen his movies many many times, thank you Fred, this was a wonderful reminder of when TV was fun!!!
My pleasure, Bridget.
Great too see all my old heroes again, thnx Fred.
You're welcome, Rolf.
I absolutely love your channel😊
Thanks a lot, Shawn.
I did not know AMC went all the way back to the 1980s. WOW. Thanks again for educating me. Our cable network did not carry it until the 1990s. I loved it then.
You're welcome, LK.
When it first came out I got to catch up on some oldies but turned sour in the 2000s.
That was FUN! Thank you!
You're welcome, Nick.
Awesome ❤❤❤it. Thank you so much Fred
You're welcome, friend Brenda.
There was a big change from American Movie Classics to AMC.
So glad u do what you do Fred!😊❤
I enjoy it myself, Chantelle.
Thanks Fred 👍
AMC had the best holiday themed content😢. They always threw in a gem that either you hadn't seen since you were a kid or one you didn't know about ‼️
Now the classics are on youtube at no cost.
Good memories Fred.
AMC did a great documentary entitled Hollywood Rocks the Movies: The Early Years, which covered the post-war era of the late '40s, the '50s, and the '60s up to and including Woodstock. It aired in the summer of 2000 and was narrated by Ringo Starr. I taped it off AMC the night it premiered, and I've debated uploading it to RUclips but I'm certain it would be struck with a million and one copyright violations for the music alone. A friend of mine converted the VHS tape to a DVD, so I still have it.
Ernest, the firs 30 minutes are already on YT in two parts. And there's a similarly titled one in full narrated by David Bowie. So maybe you'll be allowed to post it at least for a while. I would like to download it if you so let me know.
@@FredFlixI'd never seen Part 2. Thanks for pointing it out to me Fred. It's not uncut; David Bowie's songs are edited severely to avoid a copyright strike. But it's a good documentary. The one I have is Part 1, and it's actually better. I'll keep you posted in case I do upload it.
These are so good ! Thanks
You're welcome, cheridud.
👍👍👍👍
Nice work Fred, thanks.
You're welcome, lucano.
Thanks, as always, Fred!
You're welcome, rtt.
Tank You My Friend
I miss cable channels whose content matched the channel names
It's so odd seeing some of the more mature actors in their youth in the classic movies.
Betty Grable not to be found on TCM (as far as I've ever notice).
She's been on several times. I'm a big fan.
Could be because TCM didn;t show a lot of Fox or Universal movies until recently
Actually The Turning Point was nominated for 11 Oscars and lost them all
Great nostalgia clip, Fred. AMC lost what made it a good channel. I do have to point out something, though: AMC didn't show widescreen movies in their original aspect ratio. This was especially bad for Cinemascope films such as The Fly.
Very true, Robert.
Ahhh, the good old days when they made movies to entertain, not indoctrinate. Thanks Fred 👍 👍👍👍
You're welcome, Robert.
Uh, what do you call all those WWII films made during WWII? Most of those *were* to get men to sign up and to make sure all Americans hated the enemy.
@@ArmpitStudios Propaganda films?
@@FredFlixJust regular films about the war. Tons of them were just a thin story on top of a recruitment film.
The actors and the movies used to be so much better than the trash put out these days.
AMC had the "monster fest " in october and boy was it fun even interactive online games like "wack a wolf " trivia etc THEN fast forward to todays version to repetitive blah ! what a fall from grace and u know why ? greed perhaps ?
Please Trailers Of Movies 70s Please Please Please Please
Well, Paul, I use trailers and TV spots for '70s films in my America We Knew series. I also have a series called Now Playing at a Theater Near You, which features trailers from the '60s, '70s and '80s. Then there's Psychotronic Cinema (mostly TV spotsfrom the '60s & 70s) and Psychotronic Trailer Park, so I've got you covered.
What the hell happened to AMC. It was a great channel long ago. I don't know what it is nowadays. Just like lots of other things in the world.🐂💩🎥
Before AMC stopped being AMC. Wow, I haven’t heard that theme song for so long. It almost seems like it was also used by HBO or a network “night at the movies” theme, or I could just be thinking that since I’d heard it so much back then. AMC used to be one of the first channels I’d check when turning on the TV. I haven’t tuned it in for years and years.
