How to Install Landscape Fabric Like a Pro

  • What is the best way to get rid of weeds in a flowerbed?! STOP THEM BEFORE THEY START!!
This is a great DIY project for keeping troublesome weeds out of your flower beds, gravel areas, under patios, synthetic turf, you name it!!
Beware of the big box stores though... "weed barriers" that you can see through aren't worth a dime. Use the materials that the Pro's do and make sure the job is done right!! As with all aspects of landscaping... If you want the best results, PREPARATION IS KEYYYY!!!!
    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
At your request here are some links to the products I used or recommend using to tackle this project....
amzn.to/3hrsPVi - Professional Grade 5oz. Landscape Fabric (Fabric Tensile strength is measured in ounces the higher the ounces the stronger the material... Personally, I wouldn't use anything less than 5 oz for a successful installation). Once you click on this link you have the choice to buy this fabric in different lengths and widths depending on your application purposes. Please choose the best option for your needs but don't forget to account for fabric overlap and possible mistakes...better to have some leftover than not enough.
amzn.to/2PLsOxw - Professional Grade (Heavy Duty) Landscape Staples that far surpasses anything you could find at a big box store.
amzn.to/37cL1er - Durable Dead Blow Mallet

This kind of fabric was used to do the landscaping when I purchased my house 20 years ago - and it is still in great shape. I was looking around to see where I could buy something similar - and landed on this young man. Very helpful!

Woven fabric does not let water fall through fast enough. It's more for uses of runoff driveways etc.

Lay down fabric first. Get it tight. Then use a hole saw or a drywall ceiling light cut out tool to make perfect circles. Then plant. Dirt sits on fabric then it's an easy backfill especially if you have clay soil.
