I think these girls have TREMENDOUS potential, if I absolutely hated this song I wouldn't have posted the reaction, I think there's definitely some great moments and if you listen to it a few times you'll get over some issues like the vocal melodies in the chorus. I personally look forward to seeing what's next! I'm expecting to get some hate, to a certain degree, but I hope you guys see that I am not trying to hate on this video, but rather really trying to enjoy this song, and overall, I kinda did.

don't worry you are not alone , their lable is the reason for that messy song.

doesn't have mv but the song is way better than their title track

It's all over the place on purpose. It's an emerging style of KPOP. I don't think they needed quite so many different parts. They should have reduced it, in my opinion. They will probably do well....as long as they kind of....reign it in just a tad.

Nahh....u are good. U just gave an opinion on what didnt work for u. Its just there are comment everywhere that they are worst and stuff about how the girls voice makes their ear bleed. But some likes dislike its okay.
Also u might like tank its pretty simple one as compared but also its fun one.

After being pretty disappointed on the 1st few times I honestly appreciate it for what it is (in my opinion at least) by now: an introduction to the group and members. I don't really enjoy it as a song either - tho it grew a little on me - but it feels like more of a statement about their style and potential. Their live vocals seem great from what we got to see so far. If you didn't check their performances (M Countdown f.e.) I urge everyone to check them out! :D

Their performance video of this song is so much better than watching/listening with this MV. I hated this when I first watched the MV. But really have come to like the song in the performance video.

I personally don't think the song sounds bad but maybe that's because I'm a dancer and we do a lot of mix and match songs in one routine so I'm used to it but I love it and watching the performance makes it so much better than the mv showcases

Nah, the song is my absolute obsession for years now. And I don't get why people are just hating on it. 😂 I guess simple things are just for simple people but NMIXX O.O is an abstract art, its complicated and I am all for it.

According to JYP Entertainment, NMIXX is meant to bring a new side to K-Pop, pioneering a new style of music called “MIXX POP” that blends different types of music together. The song sounds a little more cohesive if you listen to it as just the song. There's no pause in between the first part and the next part when the song changes genres. I would check out the dance practice. I love the choreography. You can see just how talented they are at dancing.

Great analysis. Personally I like the song, warts and all, because yes it's not perfect, mistakes were made, but I enjoy it. However, I'm beginning to think that the real genius here, is how the lyrics literally predict how people are gonna react to the song. But these girls are so talented that in the long run I believe Lily's line when she says: ''And finally we'll win'' will be the most prophetic 'cause I don't see how they can ultimately fail

  • @AndrewHahaLee

Love your analogy. I feel this video shows a lot of potential both creatively (in production) and about the girls themselves, but relating with what you said - all we got is a mix of potentials in mini bits. Nothing sticks out other than "a lot of mixed potential". Which for a debut, it misses the mark because people don't know who you are, what your concept is, what your message is, and what's your core identity. And its sad because the girls don't get to show their abilities to the fullest. It's almost as if this MV is more about the song, their advertisers and the producers, rather than about the girls. Strangely enough, the song eventually did grow on me but not by a lot. I had to listen to it separately without watching the MV.

  • @breakfree3355
    @breakfree3355 2 года назад +8

No, because if NMIXX will stick to one "flavor" their whole concept wouldn't make sense anymore. If this will be the type of song that they would release in their comeback it means they aren't afraid to show what they really want as a group because it's unique. This song just keeps better everytime you listen because it's not the type of song that would catch people's ears right away but instead, it grows on you. It's not a song that repeats the same instrumental the whole time that makes you bored. Doesn't matter if people likes or dislikes it, NMIXX is great just the way they are.

    • @breakfree3355

Loved the analogy. I don't wanna talk about group potential since I know this group is prolly the most insane group of trainees that debuted (basing from their pre debut contents). The song was ok. Confusing af at first but definitely a grower. Still, not regretting purchasing a couple of blind packages of them and the one they recently released.
As someone who supported these girls through their pre debut period, I'm glad they did not take a "safer" route on doing their debut.

Nmixx is pure art. The analogy of the doughnuts is accurate to describe how much risk did they took, but these girls, and all the staff behind have an invaluable talent cause, in my opinion, they did it with authenticity. They broke years and years of the same Kpop formula. I feel so happy for discovered them.

I was excited for you to check it out. I didn't like the song at first listen but omg after watching many reactions too it I liked it more every time. The chorus with the balla balla part is so freaking hard. I didn't like the off tempo rapping at the beginning at first but even that has grown on me. The choreo goes hard as hell. They killed their studio choom performance and the dance practice is good too! I like their other single Tank also. The mv is really cool even with the scandal behind it. The girls are beautiful and so talented so I hope people give them more chances after the hate on this song. People are mad about the coke sponsor but I didn't see anyone complaining about the Kias in Itzy debut. People gotta get paid! The whole song is supposed to be a teaser for their future songs so you are spot on with that part! Thanks for still checking it out even though people were saying no.

    • @DGReacts

Yeah definitely not mad at sponsorships and what not and I guess they kind of made it work, because they can sit back, pop a coke zero and enjoy the show hehe cause everybody's got something to say about this video and it's entertaining as hell

    First, thanks for your react
İ will introduce you to them more:
Nmixx is now the most hated 4th gen gg because of their concept, but many people don't know the real story of the concept , so i will introduce you to it a little :
Mixx pop is a concept that lies around mixing more than one melody in one song, and nmixx do that, but in different way .
The melody change when they say " nmixx " , and with this song,at first, they where in strange world that they don't know, and they were looking around in order to get to know the place , then kyujin come and try to found the right door, and when she find it, jinni say the word " nmixx " as if this word was the key to they survival , and then we see them in a beautiful and imaginary place , and they look really happy in that place, enjoying themselves thare for a bit than the highnotr part comes and the melody change again, they return to a dark place again, and at the and of the song jiwoo appears looking at the sore behind them as if she knows somrthing that no one knows ??
Later on , we discover that the girls make that beautiful palace called " mixxtopia " , which means that this was only inspired by their imagination , and when thay return for the dark place , we discover that that place is their real life , meaning that they return to their dark real life , this means that their create this world of mixxtopia just to get rid of their bad world .
There are a lot of stories about their concept so having a look at the theories would be really fun to watch ❤

The problem with "better things to come" is that this is their debut - it should be their best. I'm sure that these women are very vocally talented, but you can't tell that from this song, all of the vocals are within a very narrow range. It also seems designed to appeal to fans of a particular genre, which limits their appeal. Most of the criticism is levied at the production team, the writers, etc., not the women themselves. They have been done a disservice.
Adding that you're right, they tried to do way too much with this in an attempt to appeal to everyone, but, as I said, they wound up limiting the appeal to a more niche audience. The views are, in large part, because this is the debut of a new group, AND the controversies. It's not the plus that it should be.

As someone who's been listening to experimental music for decades (Skinny Puppy, several of Mike Patton's projects for few examples) and writing my own for as long It's amusing watching people react to this song. I'm pretty new to this "kpop" thing so when I first heard this song I thought oh cool so there is something beyond the mostly formulaic songs (relative to each other) I've been hearing but turns out this song is seemingly a bit of an outlier. It shocks the kpop community. haha.
Since then I found Dreamcatcher and Pixy which also offer something different, though not as abrupt in their compositions. Anyways, I'll be looking out for more music from this group. Personally I hope they keep this going.

Those who hate this song and group in general are tryin' hard to be music geniuses without digging deeper the lyrics and researching what really NMIXX is all about. So FYI, NMIXX is going for a Mixpop genre and this debut MV/song of them that y'all saying a messy debut is just a "TEASER" as said in the beginning of the lyrics so literally it's like a remix that's why y'all think it's "messy". If you don't speak the language or stupid enough to even understand the subtitles then stop throwing hates and accussing them plagiarism. Plagiarizing Ateez and aespa? They don't own such thing and no one will. They're not that superior in kpop industry. It's called inspiration. Mark this, NMIXX will be big as their family groups (Twice, ITZY, Stray Kids) because JYP knows exactly what he's doing. He's the best boss compared to your stans. 🙄✌🏼🤣💗

    • @mxm7647
      @mxm7647 2 года назад

A debut song is a debut song. They just wanted to show everything the group can do. There were other debuts in the past which had this "teaser" or "just the beginning " narrative ( but with fewer experimentations for debut songs ).
I think people think it's messy because of the transitions between the parts. It's kind of what SME does but with more seamless transitions.
The lyrics are ok despite the multiple possible meanings to them. In general, a listener would go more for the overall sound and feel rather than dissect the lyrics for deeper meanings. Many groups out there have songs with lyrics you can dissect for a while and be blown away by the messages. Most people just don't bother since it mostly ends in them either liking or not liking the song - which is fine either way.
As for the second to last part: might not be plagiarism but there is a fine line between inspiration and copying. Legally there might not be an issue but it still looks immoral. As for the AESPA part, I mean, it is clear JPE wanted to do something like SME. The difference is that SME has been doing this for a long time. The furthest I can think of is H.O.T.'s song Line Up ( 1998 ). At this point mixing songs into one is a thing for SME.
As for the last part: JYP the man himself had nothing to do with the debut song. He didn't participate in it which is also why some people feel disappointed because a JYPE group debut song was mostly made by JYP himself. This one fell short in terms of such expectations.
JYP the man himself is not the CEO anymore either. Hasn't been for a while.
NMIXX will, of course, make it big. They are a JYPE group after all. The company managed to sell a lot in pre-orders even before the general public knew who the members were. That's the JYPE group impact.

    • @Faeriiexx

What I dint understand is people saying they copied Aespa. Next Level and it's structures are way different. "I got a boy" is a better comparison structure wise (especially the more rock inspires sections that both songs have), but that's doesn't mean it's plagiarism

I hate how they tried this without before making more people to listen to it... I hate that because this debut would really be amazing if O.O was two songs, the first part with the baila baila baila chorus as one song and the superhero part as another song, if they've donde that I'm completely sure they would got the recognition they deserve... because if you look to their live performances and their covers, they are absolute VOCAL queens especially Lily who is from another planet! And also they are amazing dancers but their vocals are so on point, so stable live. TANK was a good song actually but yeah, totally think the same as you DG, they are amazing it was just that their debut song was a bit chaotic for a debut. I hope you look more about them (crack videos, guides, variety shows and stuff in that style because they're extremely funny but especially look into their covers and live performances...)
About the hate they got I'm happy to say that, even when I was extremely worried about them getting so much hate, people in the majority understood they are amazingly talented and they hated JYP and not the girls

I basically had to split this song in three parts to enjoy it and I actually enjoyed listening to a remix of the middle part of the song where everything gets "cute".
That part is sooo catchy and I feel like if they focused more on that genre, the song would have been amazing.
The thing that made me get into the song in its entirety, was watching dance covers of it...if you look at it in a peformance perspective, it works.
But yeah, the first time I heard it I was like "what kind of heavy s*** were the producers on, when they decided to go with this?"

NMIXX is not for kpop boomers.
Lisa has similar approach in her debut song and your commentary of 'O.O' would fit very well to 'Lalisa' because it also has 4 different contepts in 1 song, lyrics are strange on first listening and chorus is not what you would expect. But review of both are totally different. Why? Successful social media manipulation? The moment you mentioned ateez I knew how the rest of this video will go.
But it's all good. Nmixx has quite sizable fandom for a brand new group. I believe many Blinks are there because they are familiar with this new concept (only vocals, great instrumentals and new song structure) especially those like myself who have no idea what ateez is and about other controversies spread before 'O.O' was released.
I think JYPE knew Blinks will come that's why their third song was a beautiful cover of 'Kill this love', which I strongly recoommend to watch ruclips.net/video/VCeMOtwdDps/видео.html 😊

Wow. I was eagerly waiting for your reaction to this MV. Actually I was looking forward to their debut, considering I enjoy JYP artists alot, and also Stray Kids Bang Chan mentioning Lily I was so excited. But the day of the release when I first watched the MV, I was in a state of shock. Like what just happened. I thought maybe I am not open minded enough so i tried getting into it 2 more times and I kinda felt tortured to be honest. But by the third listen I was able to appreciate certain parts of the MV like Poppin bit, and the incomplete high note. But still I was like hugely turned off. To me Lyrics somehow hold huge significance, I love understanding meanings to songs, and that's why I love watching you as your interpretation is always so deep and beautiful. But the lyrics were not doing it for me either for this song. Specially the beginning. So I just tried to ignore this, but curiosity got the best of me, and I kept checking for reaction videos, was everyone else as shocked as I was. And I will I honestly love it now. I can't wait for you to check out NCT 127 - Sticker MV after your reaction to this. I hope you react to them. 🤞🏻 Thanks for kinda making me appreciate some songs and music better. 😀😀

They could've gone about this debut in various ways. I am not a fan of the specific decisions Divison 4 went with.
They could've avoided issues they are facing quite easily and the only thing people would've complained about would've been the song choice.
I think their first comeback will be on the "normal " side. A cohesive song.
They just wanted to make this debut a hot issue but it ended up being too hot for the wrong reasons.

the song isn't half bad if you keep listening to it. sure first few listens, it sounds like a bunch of shits put into one song. but the more you listen, the more you go "huh it's kind of catchy". It's the kind of song that'll grow on you but you don't really find listening to everyday. I understand that's it's an experimental song for the girls to find their sound. They tried three(?) different sounds to see where the audience would lean into(?). nI did not even understand what I said but hope you got what I mean HSHHSHS
JYPE is famous for producing successful gg's. like twice, itzy, wonder girls and miss a. So expectations for them is really high. So it's understadble why they had that much criticism from the get go.

I wish there were more artist in kpop who writed their own songs... Sometimes I feel the essence of music itself (a way for the artist to express themself and their emotions) is disappearing due this industry that only wants perfection, not reallity; impress at the moment and get views, not make a real impact; be cool, not sensitive... Idk if u understand me. That's why I love it when sometimes I hear songs that talk about the artist and u can feel their real emotions. In kpop, it has happened to me with some BTS songs, for example. Feeling Yoongi's pain, RM's trying to find himself, their vulnability, worries, thing they are proud of...

No matter how much you try to analyze this as long as you look at it as your "traditional" song or "K-Pop Debut" you'll never get the true colours of this debut. O.O is 50% of the debut. TANK is the other 50%. Lyrics are (as in all K-Pop songs) poorly translated disregarding true meaning behind words and phrases that only native speakers would get and it's natural since it would need extra explanation that simple lyrics can't provide. O.O is not you typical song. It's a medley of concepts/sounds that showcases the vocal/dance abilities of the members. TANK on the other hand is a song (and a pretty good one imo) with lyrics that if broken down properly in addition to the lyrics of O.O paint the whole picture of this debut project. I believe that people don't want to understand what's going on and just continue the hate -train trend instead of diving into the debut concept to realize it's genius and innovation as far as debuts go. Nevertheless a group is deemed successful for companies when they see "numbers" and the girls have surely brought numbers .250k sales on the single (the time I'm writing this) , already almost 1m monthly listeners on Spotify within 10 days of being on the platform and all this with a mostly "negative sentiment" from the Western fans.
A theory I recently developed after trying to dive more and more into every possible meaning in the M/V is that the two doughnuts that obviously resemble O.O serve as another hint at the end. When the one is "blinking" it's an eye blinking (edit: Meant to say winking). Which is another ironic way of saying "I know what I did and I know what you think" (which is also one of the points made clear in the lyrics of TANK)
The plagiarism/copy has been going on long enough and it kinda gets boring and annoying coming from people that completely disregard the fact that K-Pop (and any other entertainment industry around the world) has been "borrowing" images/scenes/sounds/concepts/melodies HEAVILY at least the past 20 years (I've been around much much longer than that and am able to see it happen since I know what came before that) . And this is what's infuriating to me for the hate this innovative debut concept is getting. People claim originality when there is minimal originality in the entertainment industry and when someone tries to go outside the box and innovate he get's this.
Fun fact: ALL K-Pop labels have copied scenes in their M/V's from the Jackson 2. Michael and Janet. Let that sink in for a second.. The innovative and out of the box concept for K-Pop that Dreamcatcher is pulling (don't get me wrong I LOVE Dreamcatcher) is what Amuse did back in 2010 with Babymetal and still they were not the first to mix 2 completely different genres in 1 song. Earliest I can remember was in early 90's with Ice-T and Body Count (I'm pretty sure there have been others that didn't manage to get the spotlight so they are "unknown") . So PLEASE stop gatekeeping concepts and claiming "originality" when there is none (or minimal) because you are too biased to see the big picture. Disliking something is fine. But the lengths some people went and are still going to sh*t on this project is simply disgusting and disrespectful to all the artists involved in it. ✌
P.S In case people don't know already there is a channel that breaks down lyrics to K-Pop songs since the couple hosting the videos are both native Korean and English speakers and can understand and convey both lingual and cultural meanings. (itsANDYandJAS) Highly recommend them especially for songs that are rap heavy and let's be honest most people can't catch a bar even if it was to fall on their head.. Just like this debut concept was like a heavy lyrical bar flying over peoples heads...

and now DG 50 million view for a kpop group after more than a week is not huge at all for a group from big agency like them. if you want a comparaison a top tiers popular group like BLACKPINK or BTS made 50 millions view in less than 12 hours . a very popular group like EXO or TWICE can do that in 1 day or 2 a mid card kpop group with great popularity like STRAY KIDS or ITZY from the same agency can do that in 3 or 4 day . so it's not that good if we know the expectation for they're debut .

Don’t think I’ve ever seen a messier debut than this. JYPE took the ”any news is better than no news” a bit too far…
As for the copying Ateez thing, I personally feel it’s a ”many small streams turns into a big river” thing (apart from the nmixx ship flying in the pink sky, that’s a straight ripoff of Ateez’s Illusion MV. Only difference is nmixx’s ship have oars and the pink clouds are like 2 shades different 😭). There’s nothing Ateez and their company can do about it, but as an Ateez fan, seeing it all sure leaves a sour taste in the mouth. That coupled with Wave being plagarized,, it’s been a rough week for Atinys.
Interestingly enough though, I haven’t seen a lot of discussion over JYPE calling this style of ’mashing several songs into one’ a new style of pop. I believe they call it ”nmixx pop”? It’s yet another small stream leading to the river, because SM have done the song mashing thing ever since 2013.
All in all, I feel bad for these girls. They did not deserve to debut with this mess (and imo, with this song). JYPE knew better and should’ve done better.

I feel like they saw how aespa's Next Level blew up last year and tried to do the same thing here. Except Next Level was composed by only four people and even though there were also drastic switches in style and genre, each part at least got enough room to breathe.
