In my definition being smart is having good and active brain; being able to conceive information, filter it, think on it, interprete it and finally make effective result.

New expressions (for me) that I learned watching this video:
    - I could go on and on
    - [crossing the street] without looking first
    - I'm well rounded
    - I would say so so
    - I would!

btw: many thanks to the person who did the German subtitles! It has proven very helpful to me, if I don't know a word or an expression I don't have to look for it in dictionary, maybe not being able to find it (like it would have been for the expression "have the gaul to do something") but just have a look into the subtitles!

Well, It's an interesting video where we can see the perspective of all of them. But who can say what "smart person" is? In my opinion, there are a lot of diferent meanings for this word. By the way, the girl's answers were pretty cute :D
Thanks a lot for this video, it's quite helpful.

4:12 - 4:14 They had the gaul to be surprised. I am not sure if I am understanding this expresion correctly. Please help. I found the idiom "have the gall to do something": to have sufficient arrogance to do something. I do belive it fits perfectly. I am just looking for a second opinion though.

Don't say that about yourself, young man in 2:42! I think everybody is smart in some area! I don't even know if there is a general way of being "smart". Some people are highly intelligent in one area, and in others their way of thinking completely fails. This discussion about being smart shouldn't make anybody think of himself of not being smart.
