Unironically one of the hardest fights in the game. Imagine this thing in Investigations Also as a side note, there's a new quest in 8 Star that has a Extreme Lucent Nargacuga. It actually has changes to the fight in it so definitely check it out.
Also A8 Anomaly Research Risen Elder are far more deadly and aggressive than their Investigation counterpart due to them having some new attack mixups... So you better bet this monster in TU5 will murder again.
This monster alone made me go back to iceborne and try to beat fatalis with insect glaive. I don't think I've ever been so frustrated against a single monster before.
Also it's not that bad I mean yea he was the first monster in rise to make me fail quest more than once but it's nowhere near fatalis or alatreon or AT velkhana
pro tip to avoid getting caugh in his ambush attack: as soon as you see the shower of dragon energy coming down turn your camera down to see where they landed and avoid them. start running as soon as they explode, press the L button to focus the camera back to him or move the camera up to where he is and prepare to dive like you always do with normal valstrax
It's bad enough I have trouble with regular CG Valstrax but this...this. This monster right here wants to take my life away and beat the ghost up too. Omg.
15:12 as soon as I saw you run out of stamina... Again... I literally said "Hit the bricks pal, you're done" to my phone. Haven't even played sunbreak in a hot minute but all that running and rolling you did on the lower level before it followed had me yelling at my screen 😂
Ngl Valstrax beat me up, hurt my feelings and made me question my skills in this game... and life Btw glad to see you finally using the Spiribird caller skill... though Val still one-shots regardless 😅
I triple Carted in my first fight against this beast, and ended up getting 2 dragonsphires from the rewards (one from quest failure, one from my cat). I went back in with a Hard Dragon Res Jewel on my Rimeguard set, Dango Dragon Res, and made sure to Farcast whenever I saw the words ambush on the screen, and I was able to make it through. In my last hunt, I found Divine Ire to be very effective. A Hard Dragon Res Jewel combined with the Furious Skill made the damage much more manageable.
@@Uno_Hunter no dodge, all tank! A lot of vals moves I could power through with little health or stamina cost due to max guard, and crazy high defense (1000+ WITHOUT spiribirds). I used a lance and guarded against everything he put out while my healer cat made sure I was topped off. The only move that was tricky was his unblockable wing stab he does in risen mode, but I found a work around: absolute guard against the 360 slash, wait a moment, then skyward thrust OVER the stab and strike downward on the still extended wind for good damage and carry on my own assault while Val is recovering. I tried other sets like evasion ones (nargacuga, mizu, almudron, chameleos) it is still doable but those after affects can mess you up if your not carryful, so it’s better to dodge TOWARDS Val as his attacks are designed to extend away from him or catch you while your trying to run away.
This is definitely the highlight of this update for me, loads of fun/difficulty and I was LOSING it when he did the ambush for the 1st time. Also if you have time I recommend checking out the new turf wars for Velkhana, they're super good all around.
To avoid Risen CGV's ambush, you have to look at the ground when he launches his missile volley, they usually land in a circular pattern around you or the hunter being targeted, and will build up energy to explode, stand still or adjust your position, usually at the center of them (basically it's designed to catch you off guard if you solely focus on RCGV instead of them). After they detonate, look up at RCVG and ready a leap of faith or counter if you're godly enough.
Crimson glow valstrax is my favorite monster so I’ve faught it an insane amount of times. It’s risen form caught me off guard so many times but the most I’ve fainted against it was twice so I’ll take that as a win
good job on your Risen CG val. but there a new quest in the 6-star rank hub quest called hazard: The Hazy Shadow and its hard quest to if you interested.
I just finished the quest now...was just alright took me 15 mins to kill him...thanks to this video I saw what I needed to focus on and avoid, so that I can kill him as fast as I can😻 thanks uno ur the best😻
My friend and I failed this mission like 4 times before we finally beat it. 😂 Despite that, this was definitely the most fun we've had on a hunt in the game so far and it's my favorite elder dragon.
Make sure to check out the new Lucent Nargacuga quest, they gave him new combos and empowered some attacks with new stuff, like his invisible super slam is now way faster and eratic
I almost beat it in mr 50 without a proper build, using a heavy bowgun, and withna friend using a lance. His lance also doesn't have a proper build and he was just using diversion and stalling tactics to stay alive while I dealt damage. Of course he was the one that started the quest since I didn't have access to it, but I think it's cool we got so far
Aerial IG kinda trivalizes most of his attacks because even tho he has those massive wings, they still surprisingly end up missing the hunter a lot in the air, and the wings themselves are a good target. Though this can't be said for all attacks.
The wings are a great hitzone for glaive but my god the hurtboxes are insane, you’ll end up getting slapped by an attack in the air that was half a mile away from you.
Congratulations on that solo, i did my farming on him solo as well and only had a couple close calls (i went HBG and used cluster bombs with some sticky and wyvern as this seemed to work well on normal one), the blast radius from clusters seem to break both his risen state and his dragon charge pretty easily if youre careful and i didnt have min-max damage on these either, just enough to get the job done. If you do though he might barely be able to move for all i know lol definitely need to be careful on this one though. Might be time for you to use more evasion or guarding armor skills if you plan to grind him (its only bad without one or the other imo). probably impossible to kill him online without an extremely lucky team. Everyones just going to beeline him and youll be lucky if he dies on cart 2 out of 3 if i had to imagine the carnage in multi (id even go pierce 3 on gaisma LBG for partner sanity but itd just be no good on this one) edit: as for the ambush, i just leave when he does that lol. No harm done (to me anyway)
Yes that monster is insane. Hit like a truck. So siick. Its hard. Cart me 4 times. But its not in the league of World's Fatalis nor Alateron. Yeah risen valstrax is damn hard but its not a "wall" that make you feel hopeless to overcome. I carted but finished it within day it was released, so i feel emptry lmao. I remember my fight on World's Fatalis. It took me a Week, a various set of armor to try and get back just to be clapped by fatalis, and a bunch of trial and error of strategy just to goddamn beat him. Thats a wall that make you almost cry just to overcome. trololol. But still hoping that sunbreak will bring my excitement in battle for future monsters update
Im fine whit his Moveset, but god damn, cant he not at least have some recovery Animations? He spamms endlessly, and his Combo Chains are waay to long. Doton Doryuheki is the Mudwall, you where right.
Ngl thats what monster hunter is about as risen monsters or shit the scale and damage is almost life threatening where u can cart endlessly... just have to learn the monster like how fatalis was bcoz each hit nearly K.O if u goofed up....
I am not bragging but I find it a bit concerning when I watch other people struggling with high end monsters that I hardly have trouble with like Valstrax, Narwa and such and Rise here was my introduction to the series and I’m not exactly hardcore either.

The hardest *
"Extreme"? I see
This monster alone made me go back to iceborne and try to beat fatalis with insect glaive. I don't think I've ever been so frustrated against a single monster before.
Didn't see that mentioned it first mb lol
When you so mad you go beat up Satan:
Wait why did you specifically say insect glaive like it's the hardest weapon to run fatalis against XD
Also it's not that bad I mean yea he was the first monster in rise to make me fail quest more than once but it's nowhere near fatalis or alatreon or AT velkhana
@@dragonslayer3552 insect glaive has become my new main weapon
10:01 this is such a brutal combo

It's a pretty fun fight when you get the rhythm of it countering all he's attack make you feel like a god.
As a long sword user myself, you're did much better than I did my first time around with RCG Valstrax.
I think Uno lost a year of his life from the stress of that fight. Good grief, Risen Val almost triple carted me the first time I fought him.
My first time fighting this thing I won using a VERY unlikely armor set! My barroth armor served me so well!! One faint, ALL WALL!!!
How did you dodge everything?
@@Uno_Hunter no dodge, all tank! A lot of vals moves I could power through with little health or stamina cost due to max guard, and crazy high defense (1000+ WITHOUT spiribirds). Hearing Doto say "Mix-ups" is the last thing I expected in a monster hunter video. That was the true mix
As Lance user, it's really fun to predict his move and insta-block it.... Except that ambush 💀
Sheathing Retreat though.
you are becoming one my fav monster hunter youtuber.
Well damn, thank you 😄
The Dotodoya "mixups" clip caught me so off guard, good taste

Little known fact (or maybe not?), when Valstrax successfully takes in air he actually becomes immune to every element.

the mix of horror and joy on ur face when you saw valstrax do his carpet bomb was phenomenal lmao

I had full spiribirds mega armor skin and defensive build and I still got smoked
As a gunlance user, I simply block the super moves
ok so to make sure your not getting hit by the explosions during his nova just look for a safe spot to stand then look up to see when he body slam
They hone in on your general location. I've wirebug as far as I could and on top of a hill, they still blitzed around me 🥲
Haven’t gotten high enough to fight him yet so haven’t watched the video but please accept this comment for serotonin

Just wait till they bring in emergency risen monsters
Dunno why but his tracking feels much crazier on the pc version. I just cannot run to the side to avoid his wing stabs, gotta roll to avoid it.
Maybe it's the fps?
I heard that in 60fps it's slightly harder.
