came for the mic test. didn't expect getting grade A jazz jam. very impressive. BTW not all pencil mics are the same. you got a good one. 22mm gold capsule. pretty big. a lot of voc mics have smaller capsules. t05 has a pesky 9 db bump on 13khz. according to manual. EQ should level that out. also try MXL V67N mic. fuller and more consistent sound
Hi Ian, I was considering yo buy this mic for talking head videos, I'm curious how is the self noise? Did you notice that it was high or was it acceptable?
@@mrpicky1868 tried and there wasn't a big difference. I also have a GA audio pre 73 and that is very good but for my videos I don't feel the need to use a preamp.
@@iantrewhella9470 99 % of mic inputs have preamp in them. to hear the difference in audio interface you need a good audio system also. the difference is often petty big. if the mic has that sound to begin with, of course
Yeppppp cool indeed. Very compact. Suits the Tenor Tonessss

The self noise is very good on this so I would definitely not worry about it.
@@iantrewhella9470 Thank you for the quick response Ian!
BTW what audio interface u used here? i would say also plays a big role
Direct to my zoom q8n camera. I tried many preamps/interface and the zoom was as good as them and definitely good enough for this.
@@iantrewhella9470 well... there will be a difference... try out at least scarlett 2i2 3rd, or better 4th gen.

@@mrpicky1868 I have multiple good quality preamps and the zoom built in preamp is actually very good and more than good enough for what I am doing.
