Fully agree with the comment son Load and Reload. They sounded like honest albums, sounded like an genuine reflection of guys getting a bit older, having broader influences than they did when they were thrash metal kids and just generally a more mature sound. I think everything that came afterwards sounds like it was decided upon in a board meeting. You can imagine them having that "this is what the kids want to hear" conversation.
Even without knowing you, I'd like this way more than any other reaction vids. Nice short precise production, technique, gear comments. You're also not trying to be fake polite and actually sound honest with your comments. N you didn't even name yourself "music expert soundscapist genius reacts to" 10/10 you little snack
Awesome production on the reaction video format. Lars drums were programmed 100% The whole song is a one riff and a solo Chorus is underwhelming James sounds amazing Can’t wait to see what you will react to next. Hopefully only new releases (since we both know you’ve seen everything else out there except the genres you probably wouldn’t even try to react to since they’re out of your scope of preferance).
Check out some of Metallicas most recent live performances. Lars has been KILLING it recently. He's either been practicing alot or actually started caring again. Either way, after seeing them live recently and watching their live videos on RUclips, all the boys are on point these days
Lux Aeterna: * Hetfield's voice is the best it's been since the Black era * nice verse riff * nice production * nice vid ------------------- * Lars ain't playin' that double kick live * a bunch of recycled riff material * Kirk played that solo in a bunch of other Metallica songs * that is almost the same break (3:40 on this video) as on Hit The Lights (2:30) All in all I think it's ok(ish). Jay Kay: * awesome cuts * great content * nice pop-ins 5/5 would watch again
Awwwwwwwwwwww - thanks for the comment that included a review and a comment! Awesome dude! Also yes - I think Hammetts solos are slowly but surely becoming equally diverse as AC/DC and Disturbed songs :)
@everyone, now return the vid to 5:00 and watch that pretty fella in the background! @Jay, really enjoyed this, hope you continue making this type of content!
Lars is capable of playing that precise, used to do it all the time, live.... I was there. I'm a musician. Are they processed? Yes... They let the bass breath in the mix. Did they probably do many takes to get it right? of course, Metallica are perfectionists usually in the studio. But C'mon, the lars hate bias is real... He's not a bad drummer at all, and as a guitarist, I'd take his insight into song making over his technicality any day.
Well, I've am not saying he is a bad musician - he is actually the reason why their songs are as strong as they are and I have been listening to them since 1996. I don't hate Lars and I've even been agreeing with him during the Napster era :) As a musician and producer I can tell when drums are quantized and when not - I am 100% sure these are quantized BUT that does not make a song good or bad - it's just a technique that is commonly used in rock and metal music. TL;DR I don't hate Lars, agree his insight in music making is king but also this is quantized :)
As a person who values your opinion and since we have a similar taste, YES, id like more reaction videos!! 🤗 New Metallica is meh for me, sounds outdated! Really wished they came out with something ReLoadish...
Thanks so much for the comment! Well, if there is anything you want me to check out that's newish, drop a comment and I'll put up a poll and we can try EPISODE 2 - WHERE MY MIC WORKS ALL THE TIME PLEASE?
I've seen a lot of hype around the song, and.. I just don't get it :D Remove James, and the rest of the song is pretty forgettable. The production choices are crazy weird, the riff is Hit the Lights but slower, and the drums are crazy uninspired. I'm somewhat of a fan of Lars, in that I believe that replacing him would turn Metallica into a different band, and I didn't hear any Lars here - Where's the crash on 2? :D Great reaction to a mediocre song :)
Hahaha - true! Well, you know I think this is still better than what came out in the past. I mean they always loved Motorhead and this track actually sounds like Motorhead - especially on the drums. But in hindsight - are there any bands that put out amazing hits once they are 20+ years old? I don't recall any so Metallica can for now at lest join them xD
Well - I didn't say worthless - just saying that every bands most memorable hits are their early hits. Unless you can prove me wrong and name some bands that are 20+ years old and release a track or an album that is waaay better than their earlier hits. Or just more popular. Would love to have some examples!
Luxy Turner sounds like a great guy.
Damn - Next time I'll use you for more jokes XD
Yes, we all obviously want more! ❤️😎
😎😎😎
I enjoyed watching this, more, please!
