I’ve been loving this series and although operational is a lot different I would go back and do BMT all over again after watching these. The friends I made are still my brothers I have now more than what I had before joining
Twas good; it was pre Covid during the summer so got to go to LA and Santa Barbra a few times. Black rope and didn’t get re classed which was the goal lol
I still can’t stop from laughing when I see Space Force. And wtfIS a Space Operator? Is it like a Combat Applications Operator? Call names like Hondo & Slick?
The preparation our Battlefield Airmen receive now compared to the BMT I went through in '99 is amazing. Back then you went through regular BMT with no special emphasis on the SOC Community and then you went to indoc and onward. Now they have them in separate flight specifically built for the purpose. Hope they are doing well in the beginning of their careers.
They are completely separate now. They have more advanced physical training, which includes more rucking and swimming with other skills like knot tying.
I went through in '75. You are so right, focus was on the basic military skills (didn't have to qualify with the M16, just firing it), not like what airmen go through now. Serious respect to these young troopers.
USAF BMT has truly evolved since I entered in 1981. Kudos to the MTI's for their professionalism and dedicated work. The Air Force is in good hands. From a proud retiree. (3702 BMTS). Second to None.

Man that bomb threat drill brought back a memory. I was on EC with our EC monitor when the bomb threat evacuation started. He told everyone to take the latrine exit and they did, but the flight exited through our usual stairwell (right in front of the "bomb"). We did all the checks but didn't warn our MTI. Simultaneously our sister flight was doing an evacuation drill (don't know if it was the same or not) as well and messed up that as well. The MTI (He wasn't ours for long) got after both flight's ECs including me but took the opportunity to go after the EC monitor that was standing next to me. Was hoping to see something similar this week but maybe it happened off camera.

30:29. Trainee Conley needs to mature and realize that being jealous of those who had, "normal" upbringings is unacceptable. He should have therapized his childhood traumas before joining the armed forces and being, "petty" with his wingmen.
Montgomery being upset about other peoples’ upbringing is insane. No one can help who their parents where or what they did or didn’t do for them. I heard that stopped the yelling at recruits a couple of years ago. Also this is the airforce...them and the navy are the weakness force to join to be real.
I feel like the "Boom" "This is a Bomb" sign was misleading how she wrote it. If it only said: "This is a Bomb", then we could understand "Ok! This is a bomb threat, lets move!"... But since it said "BOOM", it's like: "Ok, so are we already dead? Or do we react as if its a bomb threat?"... I can see her intentions, but it was excecuted horribly. She herself did not understand the assignment, so how COULD they too lol
Montgomery wouldn’t have lasted 1 hour in my flight. He gives off that “Holier Than Thou” vibe and almost every video I’ve seen he’s been chewed out and not taking the initiative to learn on his own. The other trainees in the documentary including Garcia, even though things did not work out for him at BMT, were very unique and decent wingmen!!!! Montgomery I hope has grown from this. Not everyone who had a tough childhood is disciplined and not everyone who had a decent childhood lacks discipline. He was a close minded trainee and not a good wingman in his flight. For any recruits headed to BMT, don’t be a Montgomery in the flight. You have to go in with an open mind, communicate with your flight, and be a good wingman. For 8 1/2 weeks the other 51 trainees in your flight are your family. You may not like everyone in your flight but you will need them to help you through BMT. You never know, your first military friends/family will always come from your flight at BMT. Best of luck to anyone that is heading to BMT!!!!!
I completed Army BCT in 1995, I understand the missions are different between the branches. But damn, this is so much easier, calmer than my experience. Maybe it's better, but definitely not preparing for any combat situations
Retired Air Force here. It is slowly moving towards a more combat mindset. When I went through in 98 it was 7 weeks of marching and gym class. Focusing on attention to detail. 90% of AF jobs are mainly support type activities. Once you get out of basic and onto tech school is when if you are in a more combat oriented job you get the training. My first 4 years I was a fighter crew chief and only time we saw weapons was on our yearly qual training. I cross trained after my 4 into Helicopter Flight Engineer doing Combat Rescue rest of my career. 12 months of training for the job doing survival schools and flight schools and aircraft weapons training. Once at unit they send you through advanced shooter courses and at the range all the time to get you proficient and capable with all types of weapons. We would also do Joint training exercises doing small team tactics, overland with our PJ's to enable us to work as a solid team in any situation. What really got the push was during OEF and OIF when Airmen were getting tasked with convoy duty and really seeing how far behind the curve our combat training was. We will eventually get there, but I dont ever seeing it getting to Army or Marine standards. You guys go through hell.

Most of all DONT let your fear overpower you, your MTI is there to help you, and leadership is only there to move you forward. It's all a mental game, even the physical parts.
Me too; I leave on the 12th.

@God Almighty I am definitely thinking about air guard 💯
The preparation our Battlefield Airmen receive now compared to the BMT I went through in '99 is amazing. Back then you went through regular BMT with no special emphasis on the SOC Community and then you went to indoc and onward. Now they have them in separate flight specifically built for the purpose. Hope they are doing well in the beginning of their careers.
They are completely separate now. They have more advanced physical training, which includes more rucking and swimming with other skills like knot tying.
I was noticing this too. I went through in ‘97. It’s good to see the separation and more intense physical training for those Airmen.
Come get some! Pride, character, excellence!
Oh god, this was hard to watch, but I like watching this. It gives me insight on what new recruits are experiencing. Just remember for those who are going in, enjoy BT! yes it sucks while your there but as long as your putting 100% The MTI's won't mess with you.

@@tatianaragland4007you have no idea what you are talking about. Apparently can’t speak proper English either
Common MTI. Make a mistake and blame it on the flight.
This was more relaxing than the Calm app.
That’s funny. “The weapon is super heavy.”
