I've had my 2011 v10 r8 since new. Currently less than 7k miles. Besides tires wearing fast, I haven't paid for anything 'extra', just regular maintenance like any other car. The A/C did fail but was replaced under warranty. I buy the Audi car care package thingy or whatever it's called as the 'cost of owning a supercar' and don't have to worry about it. Knowing I would be going to an Audi service department instead of a Lambo or Ferrari service department was one of the main reason for choosing the Audi.
Keep posting videos about the R8 please. You are the only one I can find that really drives it, dosen't review after 2,000 miles and never make another video, or isn't a car reviewer. Currently in a c43 amg and really want an R8 V10 or huracan, plan on making the move next year as I'll be done with school and need to work for experience before graduate school
I think if I had to replace even one magnetic shock, I would go with a coilover conversion. Which is most cases, is cheaper than replacing even 1 shock. The A/C compressor, probably a good Audi Indy Shop.
Sounds like it's cheaper and offers an immense piece of mind by purchasing extended warranty. Sounds like the cost of one expensive R8 repair will pay for the warranty itself, plus the piece of mind is PRICELESS
Not necessarily. Audi increased the price of their warranty dramatically it was like 7k for 2 years (offered to me in 2019)... I didn’t buy it and my car is fine after 2 years
I currently own a 1966 chevy C10! Now let me tell you! It runs heavy and she is a chevy! Now shes a smoker on short runs but cant keep up on the long race. She leaks transmission oil and some engine oil. However before I drive it, I check the fluid and add oil to it.
good information as I have been looking at these after selling my 21 Corvette. I have no idea how these , Ferrari , or Lambo used 125k type cars sell at all given a brand new 23 vett with same or better performance sells at 85k well equipped with warranty and not remotley close maint costs . guess will continue to wait for my 23 vett. they must be killing this market.
I think if you have a lift you'll find you can do most everything on a lambo or R8 - I can't speak for Ferrari but don't imagine parts are easy to find and definitely not as affordable. Good luck, you won't regret your decision once you hit the gas!
Recently been plotting on an R8 in the not so distant future. Was a little worried about overall cost but it’s actually on par with my X6M despite being a more expensive car
No, although if the engine blows up you’ll pay more for a V10 (very low chance). A V10 could be cheaper for an AC compressor fix where you don’t need to remove the engine, where V8 you do.
I've had my 2012 R8 V10 for over 3 years now with 36K miles. For tires I'm looking at $500 a corner mounted and balanced but don't track mine either, I replaced the known to fail magride suspension with airlift suspension at around 9K dollars, I've also replaced my A/C compressor at $5,400 - key to this is to ensure your cabin air filters get swapped frequently dirty ones overwork your already fragile A/C system. I have also had both valve cover gaskets redone due to one leaking at a cost of $4600 as well. I have yet to do the brakes, but discovered yesterday my battery needs to be replaced at around $250 since I do the labor myself on that. Oil changes I do myself as well for around $250 since the oil cost has gone up. @R8CaymanMike hope this helps! Great video, you must be in a cheaper cost of living spot than Northern Virginia because my jaw dropped at how cheap some of the items were for you! Beautiful R8!
Yeh this is not your typical daily driver car...you buy this car for luxury and speed and sense of pride. No matter what if you buy this type of car at this price range, you shouldn't be complaining about money (gas, maintenance cost), just Audi in general just make sure u have a deep pocket.

But firstly how the heck does youtube know this and recommend me thism video, and secondly due to the problems you listed, which i also read a fair amount of, I think I´ll go with coilover suspension R8s and ask if the AC compressor blow up at any point (oh and also steel brakes) EDIT: how much do you use in fuel ? I’m curious though how much would Audi sell an extended warranty on an R8 for 3 years bumper to bumper ? Is it a better value than Audi care ?
@Lee Jon you must live in Canada cause you can buy the V8’s for this much or less. It’s the V10s that go closer or at 100K. I’m talking 2008-2011 models
You can check wear by inspecting the clutch directly... however I haven’t heard of many people doing this because it’s such a hassle (not worth the cost)

Thanks Roger. Your advice was so helpful. I sort of regret selling my 2018 Audi R8 last month. But I feel better after using the cash to buy four condos in the Balkans. yes
