u have no idea how crazy I was looking for this, its not the exact effect u show but one of the things u use to make it! Man...
can you do the same effect by bringing images that you have drawn from photoshop? (same png clear file with outlines of drawing)
***** So to slow the movement of anything on After Effects simple go to the time line and right click it. Then go to time, once here theres a few options that mostly do the same thing, I recommend using "Time Strech" for the simples of the options. When using change the stretch factor % to just the time scale. Hope this helps
I don't even know how I ended up on this video, but the result is - I'm in love with your accent wTF
great tutorial. spot-on. crispy clear, understandable. this guy is good!
thank you for posting this video.
That was awesome! Very well explained. Thanks man!
THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR
+MRpickleYandR I recently released a free downloadable pack based on this effect. Links in the description or head over to my channel to find the trailer.
Goatman Arts Thanks!
i dont get it its too hard
+Lucy Lim Yes, bringing over the data from photoshop and using that to create your masks is completely possible.
How do you scan it
How do you make the shape? Next to my pen tool I see no tool like the one you used to make that black circle.
Thanks for the tutorial..Can u make a tutorial how u animate those blocks?
8:48 Chickow! great helpful video by the way!
Good work!
Well done tutorial!
Awsome content.
Is there a way to trim paths with masks? So they can be shown being drawn?
Thanks for this!
hello i really appreciate your tutorial
here is my problem, when I use dissolve dancing, my outline looks like sand rather a concrete line. i watch your parameters carefully but it just can't behave like yours.
how to solve this, thanks :)
is there anyway to make the curvature of the scribble effect less curvy and more spiked?
Yay more goatman
I have scribbled picture from illustrator, how can i animate it?
how to slow the movement of the effects ?
Hey, any pointers on how to get that nice shaky camera and scratchy film look you've got on the whole animation? Is it using preset effects or expressions or did you keyframe it yourself? Trying to get a similar look going so any pointers gratefully received. Ta.
Not 100% sure how I achieve this, but I suggest perhaps using a vignette to darken the edges, Hue and saturation to dull down the colour a bit and use the wiggler tool to achieve the movement. There's a tutorial on Boss Tutorials RUclips page called "Dust and scratches effect, Flickr and movement of film...." It's a pretty good Effect and I think it's what you're looking for
+Goatman Arts Thanks man.
Thanks for the explanation! But could you please explain how you mask more complex shapes? I have made some objects in Illustrator and imported the layers separately to After Effects. I have tried duplicating the layers and added a track matte, then added the scribble effect. But then they just disappear? How can I mask existing objects, rather than drawing the mask-shape?
Hi, so if you have created paths in illustrator you should be able to copy and paste them straight in to after effects and they will convert into masks. If your looking to use auto trace there are a few different options you can use, depending on what the image is depends on what will work best, in the auto trace options there is alpha which will determine the edges by looking at blank parts of the image, there is also a luminosity option which will determine the edges by light.

+Goatman Arts Yeah I ended up using Auto Trace :) Again great tutorial, thank you so much!!
Would this work for anything you mask?
Does'nt work for me when i put the scribble is in white and when i put the color nothing happens
same here. i have no idea at all
VIIIVIII I believe you an use a Tint or Fill Effect over the Scribble, tell me if that works.
Also pay attention to insert a solid with a mask, not a shape layer

Stroke doesn't show for me. What gives?
I followed ever step exactly.
This program is unbelievably unfriendly to new users :(
I want to create an animated triangle like this. I can create triangles just fine in a Shape layer, but I can't figure out how to make one in the Solid layer. Can you help me out? :(
It's a little bit tricky but all you have to do is select your solid layer, then go over to the polygon tool under shape and draw your shape, with your mouse still pressed use your up and down arrow keys to add and subtract a vertex. I have created a free pack available from the link In the download. Hope this helps.
+Goatman Arts Thanks for the quick reply man, you're a lifesaver!
Cool, thanks
Please make the tutorial of starting short clip
can you tell me what went wrong?
when I dragged the scribble effect, my solid circle just went totally gone. trying all the setting but didn't work.the only difference with you is I have content above my transform, not mask. thank you for the tutorial
+Retna Nineties I'm not to sure with out seeing the timeline and the setting myself, my first guess would be to check that the scribble type is set to "Mask" or "All Mask" and not "none"
+Goatman Arts i've got to auto trace the layer then put the scribble effect on the traced layer then it worked. thank you, I'm working on something from your awesome tuts =DD
+Retna Ningtias OK, sorry I couldn't be much help. Good luck with the project.
+Retna Ningtias I have the same problem and still don't understand why it's happening! Can you please tell me how you solved this? Thanks in advance
+Kiddo Hung So can you talk me through what point you have got up to and what effect you are trying to do, the shape or the text?
thank you so so much
background tune is awesome!
link?
So I've had a look for the tune but afraid I don't know what used in the video.
Nice job man. Can this work on AE version CS5?
Can't think of any reason why it wouldn't, good luck.
Goatman Arts
Thanks. Keep up the good work.
how do u like make another shape link or ocmbine with another shape?
Like how u made the chickens eye at the end kind of link with heads motion
You want to do something called parenting, sometimes called pick whipping or lasso. I don't think I cover it in this tutorial but you should find plenty on it if you search for "After Effects Parenting". It looks like a small spiral down near the blending modes, you want to click and hold the lasso on the layer on top and drag it onto the layer that has the movement. Hope his helps.
+Goatman Arts Great thanks helped alot, also you know when u ctrl+shift+c it kinda groups them, how do u access the individual parameters again?
+Christian Rojas just double click the layer
omg this is so hard!!!! how do u do this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey, I have some pre-set packs on my website available. www.goatmanarts.com/animateddrawingpack
nice work
Bro can you help me ? Why this doesn't work on png images too ?!
It should, if the backgrounds not a solid then auto tracing it should supply a mask for the image. Be sure to read through the check boxes that are automatically check.
I just needed to create a new mask on the png image . :)
so you cant paint on after effect with the brush
Is it possible to make the outline move like that too?
Hi, move like what exactly ?
To make the outline have weird moves like the inside of the shapes ;o
Yer Sure, just do as I did to the inside to the outside layer.
Goatman Arts ty, awesome tutorial btw :)
best good video
I swear when I watched this before you had another animation tutorial, what happened to that?
I remember when I enjoyed a video like this in the #sesamestreet TV show when I was a boy.
which software is this??
