I really like the way you started the discussion. Often, people see Gon as your typical 0815 all nice all good battle shonen main character, but he is still a kid and he has his flaws, the most prevalent being his enormous selfishness. It goes so far that Gon's moral compass goes out the window depending on whether someone stands in the way he decided to walk or whether something is useful in walking that way. It's for example why Gon doesn't have a definitive stance on murder. His best friend is Killua, who is essentially a mass murderer despite not wanting to kill anymore and he thanked Binolt, a murderer he had absolutely no emotional connection to, even adressed him with a honorific despite him wanting to kill the boys initially, merely because Binolt was USEFUL to him. When someone stands in his way, though, Gon will judge them by how they act and he will attack them for it, as seen with the Troupe and with Genthru, for example. Even healing Genthru's men only came when they weren't in his way anymore. He has the selfishness and the egotism of a child, but heightened to the extreme. In fact there was a sentence from Zepile back before Greed Island that touched on Gon's lack of a moral compass: "He doesn't care about right or wrong. He opens his mind to everything that impresses him, right or wrong. Which means he's dangerous. Someone who can never truly be appraised." Gon sets his mind on something, and he will be stubborn about that and selfish about the way to go there. Right and wrong don't matter, in fact right and wrong change depending on what he's set his mind to. "Someone who can never truly be appraised" is also such a nice way to say "What a loose unit this guy is"
Brilliant way of putting it. Another example that shows his mentality is how despite Killua being injured during the dodgeball game, Gon didn't give a damn. He just wanted to win his own way. His friend being in danger be damned, Gon's pride was far more important to him. It is portrayed as absolute trust in a friend but it actually is a show just how disgustingly selfish Gon can be at times while not being malicious. The chimera ant arc just shows him his true self because the same boy who chided Chrollo for killing people unrelated to him, ended up threatening the life of an innocent girl who did nothing to him just for his own reasons. I dont like as a character at all but man is he well written by Togashi that I can't help but respect that.
I don't know if anyone noticed that but Gon sacrificing his hands to scare the crap out of his enemy, doesn't that remind u of what Hisouka once did in the 2nd arc "The Heavens Arena"?
I think the main difference between Gon and Goku is how the world reacts and the consequences of their actions. Gokus selfishness rarely gets an appropriate reaction and he rarely suffers any real consequences for it whereas Gon has already been called out in universe and has suffered some consequences already. I always thought the core idea behind Gon was "What would happen if Goku's personality was taken seriously?"
@@ramteja1550 like that time Goku prioritised his son by giving cell a senzu bean so that he could give him a full challenge risking the lives of everyone on earth and especially his son just to test his abilities

It's a good example of a character who is a few level below another in term of nen firepower and can still slaughter his opponent anyway, proving that "power levels" aren't all that they're chalked up to be here. Gon obviously also beat a much stronger opponent, but Gon used a one-time plan that also involved the game itself. Killua's "plan" is a fighting technique he could literally use anywhere if he wanted to. "what's this great idea he speaks of" only Gon would call "sacrificing an arm to focus nen in my leg and counter-attack" a good idea, when he has a perfectly good plan to win without losing said arm. Oh I supposed Hisoka would call it a very good idea too so maybe it's not just Gon. Jesus, these two are uncomfortably similar xD
I think a flawed protagonist will always be more interesting one that isn't. like, compare Gon to Tanjiro from Demon Slayer/Kimetsu No Yaiba: what interesting flaws does Tanjiro have? "he's too nice"? well, no, that's not a flaw. Tanjiro is always rewarded for his kindness, so I would call this only a positive trait in the Demon Slayer world. Gon's ego and aptitude to sacrifice a needless amount in order to prove his own point really points to a lack of self worth, where he hurts himself to prove himself to others. why does someone try to prove themself to others? well, basic psychology tells us that if someone is desperate to hurt themself to others to the point that they're willing to lose everything, it means they don't value themself, and want to be valued by others. so, psychologically speaking, why would a 12 year old boy be so desperate to prove his value? hmm... what could it be..? what figure was he missing in his life that he idolises..? ah, well, i'm sure it's nothing.

Gon and Hisoka are kindred spirit 😂
Wonderful reaction. Thanks!
Who else is crazy enough to sacrifice two arms just to make a point? I mean, besides Hisoka.😉
Gon being SELFISH ... Like father like son ehh
I don't think Cookie-chan has any combat application. She's just a masseuse.
The editing of 13:17 had me dead 😭😭😭😭
You shoud watch Yu YU Hakusho, same author of Hunter x Hunter. A little older anime , but still very good!!!
Gon is much like uvogen, I think if Gon was raised in metor city he could possibly in the phantom troupe.
Listen boys, be a good dad, otherwise your kid might become batshit insane like Gon.
Great reaction!
26:17 uhm about that... thankfully we are about to go to that arc lmao
Is this the first time we've had 2 scenes used for the thumbnail?!
Gon kind of reminds me of Eren from AoT. Possess very self destructive character flaws. Absolutely unhinged😂
Yes Gon is mental. XD
LOVE Your REACTION ❤️😊
But now its about the time..! "ONE PUNCH MAN" SEASON 3 TRAILER ReAction..🗿🗿
👁️👄👁️
Insane foreshadowing that is.
Loving HXH!! you need to watch jojo's bizarre adventure, one of the best animes ever with HXH
Bisky has that Jonathan Joestar physique
Gon is something… yes 😅
Gon is the best character ever created, as the MC/Protagonist the fact that he's so selfish yet so pure in all the other aspects... that's just so well written!
How long are we gonna put up with ultra narcissit Gon? Killua deserves better.
Fun fact they actually broke the wind pipe of the voice actor as well to make the lines authentic. Talk about commitment!
Goreinu the Goat
Killua just playing around with that bro💀
He can even kill all 3 of them in 3v1
you need to watch the ant ark
its the best ark
17:39 🔥🤜
if this episode doesn't convince you that gon is psychotic i don't know what will
押忍!
from Bisky to Bulky
Love your videos guys!!! BIF FANNN
BiskychaMA-CHOoo..😢
let’s go 🎉
Bisky more like Buffsky.
Angie frustrates me so much. Why does he think Gon is going to whoop the ass of the main villain of this arc, but isn't sure if Killua may defeat the side villain? We have seen time and time again that Gon isn't even that strong, and he always overhypes him as if he's the strongest. He's literally so far behind Killua and Kurapika, smh 😑
