Wow that’s amazing. Congrats, And why would you change your diet? That’s just gonna get you back to square one. The point is making it a lifestyle. For me personally I started nearly 3 months ago, about 60lbs down from 360, under 300lbs for the first time in ten years when I was 16 and it feels amazing...will do strict Keto staying at 20g of carbs till I’m at my goal of 150 and I know for a fact that when I get down to that goal I will stay Keto for life. Will just move over to lazy Keto where I get up to 40gs a day and by then I’m hoping I won’t need to track my macros so closely.

I was a carb addict. It was debilitating. All I could think about was cornflakes, donuts, rice. I couldn’t focus on getting things done. I couldn’t even be a good mother. I yelled at my kids all the time. I was so mean to my husband.
I’m so productive now. Keto cured my life-long battle with depression. I’m actually happy. Such a strange feeling. Keto made my wrinkles completely disappear. I’m 47 and people think I’m 30. I have dewey youthful skin. I just noticed that My facial age spots are gone! My kids are thriving and I actually have a relationship with them now. I’ve always been thin, but in a sickly way. I’ve got a rocking body now. I love my muscles!

One thing I love about when people lose weight is seeing their true facial features and unique beauty shine through. Being overweight robs people of that, and it’s like a flower blooming when the weights gone ❤️

My Gosh People cannot see, that its so true. You can be the best looking person in the world but if you are fat most people will not see it. Once you take the fat off it shows! I explain to my fat friends. Do you think if j lo and Dwayne Johnson were seriously over weight that they would be stars? That weight robs you of every thing good in life and it brings not one good thing to the table for you!

So true! Great observation. I’m overweight too so I’m not pointing fingers but when I go out and look around me I can’t help but think about how disfigured and distorted all the obese people look to me. It’s very sad. And don’t get me started on the fake “body positivity” movement. Sure, let’s not ridicule one another. Let’s not judge people’s heart and character by their size. But let’s not try to normalize obesity either. Let’s not give people a reason to “give up” on their health.

Crowbar1115 I think the issue, once we get over a certain weight, is that we start to lose our gender-specific attributes and start looking androgynous. There’s not a lot of difference between a 600 pound man vs a 600 pound woman aside from genitalia. It robs you of your features.

So inspirational! My brother passed away at 37, over 600 after being on life support for 2 weeks. He was 6'7 and normally 330. He started gaining weight due to losing a job and depression. He ended up unable to breathe due to sleep apnea and didn't have insurance to get the proper C-Pap machine. They had to request a special ambulance to transport him to the hospital. I will never forget seeing him for the first time in months and how much he had gained. They had to use a crane to move him on his special ICU bed. He died from pneumonia/SARS and kidney failure. I share this story because if there's anyone watching this video and want to change their life by losing weight - please do it. I wish Keto was accepted as a proper weight loss regimen then as much as it is now. You are enough and worth the effort!

Sometimes, sugar coating things make things worst like yhe body positivity im seeing nowadays. We should wake up and not be delusional. Oh, I cant tell him off because in Filipino culture - we are raised to respect those who are older than us, whether the advice is constructive or not, good or bad we have to listen and reflect on it. If I will talk back my parents will either whack me or nag at me of being disrespectful 😂

I literally just watched Steve’s first interview the other day and was so struck by his story. The amazing things that happen when you just commit and do it. Because the first interview is so fresh in my mind, I see such a difference just in the past interview. Like his skin and his eyes.....he looks fantastic. I have never needed to lose weight but am doing keto for autoimmunity and for adrenal/ stress/ anxiety. And this is even more inspiring than any interview I have ever seen. Most people think that keto is just for weight loss....but look at how happy he looks. Look at the transformation that has taken place not only in his body but in his entire life. This is more about the power of the mind than anything else......I just love this. Thank you DR. BERG for always bringing the best guests on your shows because information is information....but results with actual human beings, their physical results as well as the emotional, mental, and spiritual transformation they experience is where it’s at. Started keto With intermittent fasting 2 weeks ago. It's working great but a strange thing happened. I've had a mole on my face that measures about a 1/2 an inch round near my ear. It's started about 25 years ago as a tiny dot. I started noticing last week it was flaking in that area. The mole has shrunk and is now disappearing. Also I'm 66 and in a wintertime it's hell with the dry skin and itching. I've been having to wash my face Before I Go to Sleep every night for the past week. It's oily again.

kickn-adead-cat, I might be wrong, but the dry, itchy skin could be a side effect of your body adjusting to the IF. I had a problem with getting really itchy skin after showering, almost unbearable. Once I got on a routine of taking nutritional yeast, that has helped tremendously. You can get Dr. Braggs nutritional yeast flakes at the store (I started off taking that), but I switched to Dr. Berg’s nutritional yeast pills. I take them with whole milk or beef/chicken bone broth, and it’s much easier for me to take it that way. I also will grind them up with a mortar and pestle and add that to his wheat grass juice powder and electrolyte powder, add water, 100% organic cranberry juice, and lemon juice and apple cider vinegar to taste, and that’s a good way to take them. I wish you the very best success. God bless you.

As far as I know, fasting helps the body get rid off excess, damaging skin and other stuff. For example people who do IF dont end up with skin flabs. I believe its termed autophagy. Jason Fung has some interesting articles on this and observed it in hundreds of patients

  • @privateerburrows

Well, a starting point could be to STOP referring to HDL and LDL as "types of cholesterol". HDL and LDL are types of lipoproteins. Lipoproteins are a type of protein. Protein is made of aminoacids. Cholesterol is a fat. Fats are NOT made of aminoacids. HDL and LDL are "baskets" made of protein that is lipophilic on the inside, water-soluble on the outside, and their purpose is to transport fats in the blood. One HDL basket can fit just over 1000 molecules of cholesterol. LDL is smaller so it doesn't carry that many. So, HDL is a big package, LDL is a small package. But the cholesterol is the same, whether it is in a big package or in a small one.
And calling them "types of cholesterol" is not just a philosophical misnomer; it is factually deceptive, because a lot of the time HDL and LDL are not transporting cholesterol, but rather transporting other types of fats, fatty acids, triglycerides, phospholipids... And there is no way to know whether any given HDL or LDL particle is transporting cholesterol or some other kind of fat without emptying it out and looking at the contents, ,,, which is not easy to do with an electron scanning microscope and little tweezers; so looking at levels of HDL and LDL doesn't even statistically represent amounts of cholesterol in circulation. And the funniest part is most doctors don't even know this. When I explain it to them they are shocked to hear it, "Ahh... that actually makes sense...!"
Raised levels of LDL while on the keto diet is probably because more fats need to be moved around if your entire metabolism is running on fat. Obviously, the extra LDL particles are probably transporting fatty acids and triglycerides; for fuel; NOT cholesterol,.
And cholesterol is good, anyways. That's another long story...

Excellent explanation, why do so many health professionals call it ''good'' and ''bad'' cholesterol when it is an amino acid carrier and NOT cholesterol. I do not know why they measure it at all in relation to cholesterol if it is unknown at any one time whether the carrier is carrying cholesterol. So much misinformation out there it is frightening no wonder it is difficult for a non medical person to make informed choices about health since it appears most of those we look to for health advice can't get it right either.

I just don't believe that high cholesterol is a problem. Mine has been 300+/- for 30 years, just like all of my family members. My cousin was prescribed a statin and went for a check up 3 months later. They were talking about a liver transplant for her. The statin did that much damage in just 3 months! Think about those that take it for years! Besides, they are NOT effective and are designed to provide the makers lifetime users.

@@sglondon301 - Hi, Mary. Do you mind if I ask how the statins helped kill your best friend and Dad??? When I went on Keto a couple of years ago, I started doing research on diet, nutrition and pharmaceuticals thanks to Dr. Berg and others. I wasn't going to attempt one more diet until I learned how our bodies work. Now it's been over 2 years and I'm still studying! Thank God for the internet and youtube, because I'm not a reader at all. When I found these youtube videos, I loved just sitting at my desk and watching videos. I do this anywhere from 2 to 6 hrs. a day. When I first found a doctor taking about statins, I listened to this lecture he was giving other doctors at a seminar and then found a couple of other doctors and one highly educated Ph.d. lady, LOL, who talked about statins. I went and threw mine in the trash. I didn't ask my doctor, I just did it. I also was T2 diabetic and after listening to doctors talk about Metformin, I threw those in the trash. Although, I wasn't taking much of it because I was trying to control my diabetes with diet and walking. I still wasn't eating nearly as good as I should have since learning Keto. When I got on Keto, I lost my diabetes in less than 3 months. Not one doctor I had been to in the four years I had diabetes told me diabetes was reversible. Well, back to the original question I had for you, my doctor still doesn't think my cholesterol is low enough and wants me back on Lipitor (statin). I said I wouldn't take it anymore. My cholesterol is only 245, but my triglycerides are still higher than I want, but they are coming down. Funny thing, I was listening to this one doctor at a seminar and he said cholesterol values used to be 250. I don't know how many years ago that was?? Then it was changed to 200 and overnight, 8 million people were put on a statin drug. He also went on to say that doctors do get kickbacks to prescribe these drugs. Some of them anyway. It's a huge business and a lot of money! That is why I was wondering how and why you lost loved ones due to statins?? Thank you.

Great interview! Thank you for the follow up. Steve's experience with weight is valuable, and he has good advice to share. And he's helping others, too. I hope you can do more follow ups.
Getting on ketosis, eating more simple, whole foods, eating more salad, weight training, adding intermittent fasting, not too much protein, 8 oz per day. Not a lot of cooked vegetables.
Inversion (upside down) time might help his legs. (It's like traction.). Or rebounding.
    And sunlight, outdoors.
I bet part of his success is being able to more comfortably sleep.
In my opinion, some of the carbs are so addicting because they are spraying grains with MSG and aspartame, which are both highly addicting.
And grains can have mold contamination from storage in massive silos, so cause fungal overgrowth in people, which competes with good bacteria in your gut.
Double acting yeast was created for making beer and duplicates so quickly that even a small amount that is alive after baking bread can easily overwhelm our guts. Especially if you have maltodextrin in your food, which is the special food created to make yeasts grow faster.
And bromine (dough conditioners) in bromated flours competes with Iodine in your thyroid.
And aluminum in some of the baking soda is toxic.
And some the free-running agents added to salt are bad for you. (yellow prussiate of soda (anti-caking agent).
And grains should be rinsed and soaked overnight before cooking to wash off any lectins that interfere with digestion, leaving more of the starch for the yeasts.
Natural sourdough breads would be better.
All this has ruined grains for us.
We tend to blame the natural living thing instead of what we ourselves have done with it and to it. This is because... lawyers. You can't disparage a company's product. You can't patent an unmodified natural food (yet) so enormous promotion, advertising, in groceries and restaurants goes toward the man made, man modified products.
And now, even natural producers in my area are being told they must add artificial preservatives, to their (already preserved) canned goods to make them more reliably "shelf stable", in order for them to be allowed on the grocery shelf, which means that more foods are older than before.

When I first started Keto, I ate as much as I wanted..because after being on every other diet in my 61 yrs, I was always denying myself.. AND starving!
As I settled in, the data AND the shot of Apple Cider Vinegar and pink himalayan salt every morning, took away my appetite. Now I eat one small meal a day and I'm LOSING! I feel so much better and energetic!
I've got quite a few people started on Keto and tell them, in the beginning, just eat your fatty Keto stuff with veggies and eggs. Don't stave..that's when the " Carbage monsters" creep back in.
After you settle in and get comfortable, go ahead and start looking at recipes and by then you'll be ready to do the intermittent fasting.

-I am really enjoying all these videos of Dr. Berg's influence. It has only been a few days....but wow! what a change in perception about everything on my end.
So I am applying, learning, listening to all that is said and I expect lots of changes ahead in myself. I am average everything.....but, I do work out and eat right
basically. But with the improvements of my learning and understanding of all these things Dr. Berg says, I'll be changed in no time into the shape I really want
to be in. Thanks so much for these videos!

that's not the first time I've heard that on cholesterol levels not really being the problem to heart attacks. My mom has high cholesterol always for years..never on meds! .....weighs less than 125. She got down to that weight and less at times by never eating sugar and eating healthy foods and very limited amounts. she has been eating that way for 30 yrs. She has amazing energy and memory and she is turning 89 soon. I swear what Dr Berg is saying is so very true.

😂 people keep telling me keto is expensive, I say, not if you eat one meal a day... You go enjoy your cookies and I'll get younger as I age.
    They have a 😐 moment.

I do IF for 16/8 so I usually have 2 meals and it is still so very much lower than normal. I buy cage free eggs ($3/dozen) and meat “the best I can afford”...I think people who say this are thinking of eating an “organic” 2 pound filet per day or something. The most expensive thing I buy is my LonoLife bone broth packets...one a day w a tablespoon of butter (nicknamed Bulletproof Bone Broth). Glad someone else notices that it is not the register receipt shock too many are claiming.

@@MsDestinedtoReign , absolutely! I don't think people do the math. They seem to exclude the mindless eating habits, grabbing a chocolate bar refueling or snacks here and there, coffee on the go along side their weekly shop. It adds up.
I did my food budgeting, *MCT oils, good quality meat ect* , it turns out it's cheaper in the long run. Here's the most important part, if for some reason it is more *expensive* ... It's worth the health benefits! How can you put a price on that?

I really appreciate you and doctors like Dr.J.Fung for shedding light on how we’ve been miseducated in healthcare. I’m an RN and all of this makes scientific sense to me. Now I’m better equipped to help others, as well as myself. 🙏🏾

Something you never realize. I noticed when I deployed. Being smaller, I got smaller uniforms and all together a lighter load. Then you save on laundry, you are able to put more clothes in 1 wash.
This is just a "win, win" over all.

But my life changed when I started watching your videos, and now I feel much better, I could to overcome most of the points that I've mentioned above, and despite that, I am advising the people around me according to your videos.

Impressive.. congratulations, Steve! Those of us who "only" needed to shed a few pounds stand in awe... but it's proven again that everything is about Timing. As he says, it was 'easy'... once one feels ready, it really isn't that 'difficult' anymore. You are so fed up and get so mad at yourself that you just do it. I do PILATES every single day now, the transformation is phenomenal but finding out the underlying issues - the reason WHY one eats = what the craving is about - is the most important part. Once you do that, the cravings dissipate automatically.... but boy oh boy, losing that much weight - and keeping it off - is truly wow, Steve! Dr. Berg never disappoints. I also highly recommend the book 'Women Food and God' by Geneen Roth (not religious). Life-changing for anyone who wants to shed or gain weight. Portia de Rossi's book is great as well, titled 'Unbearable lightness'. xx..

Steven Is this "THE Steven" :) If it is, you have me crying now! Just finished watching this vid. I lost one of my best friends in my life to obesity 4 months ago. He was about the size of the "Steven" in the video pre keto. He was 51. I lost my mom to insulin resistance/arterial breakdown/diabetes 2 year ago. I am on keto 2 1/2 months now...went from 230-200. I wish I knew about this sooner! I am going to try tightening my fasting window (20-4) to 23-1 and see if it gets me out of the weight loss stall (though yes, the ladies are a bit more challenging! lol) And...thank you Dr Berg...for everything! Proud of you Steven!

Steven Haha, yes! You know my weaknesses! I do have a tendency to go too heavy on the proteins (rotisserie chicken being my Achilles heel, though burgers can do me in too!) And, though I LOVE cooked veggies...I have yet to find a salad I can "love" ;) I was never a salad eater. But I can eat asparagus, broccoli, and cauliflower all night! In order to get more fiber, I started doing chia seeds in an almond milk pudding (yummy and low cal). I thought this might help a bit too...we will see how it goes. What do you eat for salads? Maybe you can inspire me! Thanks for the encouragement! (Great attitude too!)
