I would love to see you test an Oase Biomaster 250 vs Eheim Pro 4 250. I have done this test myself and determined the actual flow rate of the Oase to be 336 liters per hour, whereas the Eheim literally did double that with the exact same amount and type of filter media in it.
Please do a dedicated video. I have enjoyed a number of your other reviews and would appreciate it. Oase is less common here in the USA, but I have been looking at the BioMaster Thermo series for a while.

I thought it should do this but never worked. I stopped the video to try this and it works well. I did a water change yesterday but gave up on the filter pipes as I did not want to take the time to disconnect pipes. Thanks and that is the best tip this year so far. The Oase instructions are flimsy at least the English ones are.
My new aquarium has been running for just 2 days now. I am using Biomaster 250 Thermo. I have replaced the foam in the top 3 trays with Biohome ultra mini media. The bottom tray has medium foam & fine floss. Tank is now being cycled. Looking great so far. When the time comes maintenance in this filter should be short and sweet.
Thank you so much. You have the only video that I could find with installation for this piece. I fought with it for hours. No joke. The inner ring that you are turning was out of synch and I could not lock it down A slight twist and back to normal. Thanks again!
Jurijs Jutjajevs I think THE PLANTED TANK answered it. Is it better than an Eheim or Fluval canister filter and if so, how do you think it is better? U
Personally, I'd take an Eheim pro filter over one of these Biomasters any day even though the quality of the Eheim pro has been going down slightly with the later revisions. The prefilter is done all wrong with very fine sponges and then you have coarser sponges inside which doesn't make any sense so you have to cut out your own prefilter sponges out of the sponges found in the filter unless you want it to clog up and lose flow pretty quickly. The trays have really flimsy quality plastic and it's a bitch putting it back together after cleaning. Also I've heard that the built in heater has issues going way above what you set it at, but I can't confirm that as I haven't used the heater because of that. Also very poor selection of biomedia that come with the filter. You don't put plastic media with basically no surface area inside a canister and call that biological media. Really cheap by Oase. Four advantages over the Eheim. It has a really good and sturdy handle for carrying. It's easier to prime. It's cheaper. Built in heater. The Eheim also have multiple o-rings that needs lubing otherwise it will start to leak eventually, especially with the bigger models like the 2078 from my experience. Haven't had the Oase long enough to speak about leaking issues but so far so good. Also, you can't use the priming button too vigorously with the Eheim 2078 or it will start to leak.
This was very helpful. I enjoy all of you protips . I have currently been watching all of yours and George Farmers videos to gather inspiration for my 75 gallon aquarium
Great hack! One thing that did not know is that you also can use the same mechanism to control the out put flow from the pump. Adjusting the leaver from lock half way to unlock. Don't know it this is something that OASE does not recommend doing. But I have used it instead of using the Eheims Double Tap Connector which is used before to do this.
I would be very careful with this - because if you turn the valve too much, it can disconnect and leak . also by doing so you not only limit the outflow, but also the inflow to the filter which can cause vacuum in the canister, which can cause air getting sucked through the seal, which again can cause leaking. Always control the filter only on the outflow
Holy mother-effing molly! That's so simple and so helpful. That saves me so much bother. Like they say... The simple things in life are free. Thanks, Jurijs. That's a proper tip. I don't think i would have ever found that out for myself. Cheers sir.

A great Pro-Tip, what a insightful hack. Getting clean hoses is a chore sometimes. This is an excellent fix. Do you have any suggestions on cleaning the tubing? Do you use just warm water? Not really, what I’ve observed over the years that same filter is having more issues in one tank and less in another. So partially that’s bubbles from the water and partially from bacteria inside filter. The newer models of the biomaster have a little feature build into reduce the amount of trapped air, but I have heard users still having issues despite this feature. All in all, it’s annoying when you focus on it, but it doesn’t harm neither the filter nor the aquarium system as a whole. Other filters have other problems, in the end its matter of choosing what features you like and accepting the downsides of the respective filter
biomaster purping issue has no effect on CO2 inside aquarium imo, its just annoying to hear the sound and see an occasional burst of bubbles, but its nothing compared to a skimmer or proper aeration
On the beginning of December by Yours, George Farmer and Green Aqua influence I bought Oase Biomaster 600 thermo in Poland and has been shipped to me to UK. Unfortunately from the beginning after setting up and connecting to my fish tank it's sucking air every few minutes in some place (I think by the heater seal, at least it's sound like it). Applying silicone greas not helped with problem. Unfortunately that Polish shop is not accepting guarantee if it's not within Poland area, I'm not sure about other shops. UK service told me to send the motor head to Germany Oase office. Any way, everyone (You, George, Balazs) are praising those filters, but are not so great. I am not saying it is bad filter, because I love prefilter option, built-in heater and in general it's good built. But this air problem needs to be highlighted.
you can order a replacement ring for the heater sealing and try if it's going to help. Otherwise it is a tricky situation with warranty and service. One can always send a product to the manufacturer, same as shipping to Poland. I know its not very convenient, but if you want the problem fixed, that's how most warranties nowadays works.
@@JurijsJutjajevs You right, most of them. Nothing will beat Aquael warranty, but recent filters UltraMax are not great, and do not have built-in heater as Oase. Also about Oase, flooding the filter is great and unbeatable. Unfortunately Oase Biomaster is louder then Eheim 2275, which I have next to the first one.
I have had eheim filters that were extremely loud before and I have heard from customers complaining about Oase filters being loud. I guess one has to try and if loud to return and try another one
Ich meine ja, habe es aber nicht probiert. Was auf jeden Fall geht ist den kompletten Filterkopf vom 600er oder 850er auf einen kleineren Kanister zu setzen, das passt immer
I don't want to be the one who gloats, but I have genuinely been doing this for a couple of years. lol Occasionally I do small water changes by putting a bucket under it and opening up the taps. It's the same on a lot of canister filters, particularly Eheim models.
Indeed a very good filter and a good tip. IF you would set-up the filter with the in/out pies it came in the box, would you use the spray bar or the "lily pipe" end that for a 150l aquarium (70cmx50cmx45cm Lxlxh)? Thank you for your answer!

@@JurijsJutjajevs Thanks! btw I bought a 60x30x36 aquarium, the Oase 100 should be enough in terms of water flow right? Cause the 250 for example sounds to me a bit of too much water flow and might be unpleasant for the fish or no?
You can also control the flow of the filter right?? If you don’t unlock it all the way i think you can lower the flow so you don’t have to buy a control flow valve if you need it
Original Oase outflow pipes come with a flow control tap. If you replace with a lilypipe you don’t have it anymore. In this case you need a tap build into the Hose. One from eheim 😆
I think its because the updated version has got a thingie (no idea wat’s it called) for letting out the air. The heater had moist in it probably bad luck .
Hi, I’ve got a 350 and it leaks from the quick release handles for the pre filter and pipes. I have changed the rubber seal, but no joy. I would appreciate any advice. Cheers
I bought it last week for my ada60p i used an eheim 150 experience, but anytime the maintainance was a mess, also no more heater shown!! The only thing is the size of the hoses , quite big i had to change my lily pipe, at least the inlet. Is there a pro tib to fit the smaller hoses on the filter? Thanks
Is it just me, ore does the prefilter clog extremely fast. Thought about drilling some additional holes in the pre filter pipe. But I'm not sure if there is a downside. What do you think?
you can call it a downside or call the prefilter extremely effective! simply clean your prefilter more often, that's what it is for or replace the prefilter sponges with some that have a larger size. I remember George did it once,,
@@JurijsJutjajevs I think i'll 3d print some pipes, so i can experiment a little bit. But for sure, the prefillter works pretty good, also the water is crystal clear since I use the Oase Biomaster

@@JurijsJutjajevs Many complaints about loosing the injected co2 because of the air bubbles in planted aquariums.
biomaster purping issue has no effect on CO2 inside aquarium imo, its just annoying to hear the sound and see an occasional burst of bubbles, but its nothing compared to a skimmer or proper aeration
Game changer!
😉
The best filtr
Yes please a full review I want to buy one. And how to fill it wich media etc etc
Can you disassemble the black hose connectors from the rotating adapter? One of these is leaking in my filter.
Never tried. I think it has to be replaced
Pls do a full review
Klasse Video 👍
Guter Tipp.
I don't want to be the one who gloats, but I have genuinely been doing this for a couple of years. lol Occasionally I do small water changes by putting a bucket under it and opening up the taps.
It's the same on a lot of canister filters, particularly Eheim models.
yes I know, I did the same with my old Eheim filters. They have a tap in the quick connector.
But would that work if you haven’t disconnected the other ends of the hoses? I let and outlet at the tank end.
Indeed a very good filter and a good tip. IF you would set-up the filter with the in/out pies it came in the box, would you use the spray bar or the "lily pipe" end that for a 150l aquarium (70cmx50cmx45cm Lxlxh)? Thank you for your answer!
The early bird catches your video! ;D
good morning : ☀️ 😉
@@JurijsJutjajevs Hehe, perhaps a bit late to wake up xD
Btw. The Video is great as always, really helpfull! I think I'll upgrade my bad gunky Superfish xPro 400 because it is so ANNOYING!😂
The Eheim Classic 250 ln the other tank is great, but no thermo function unfortunatly😰
I love the eheim classics, but they don’t have any features
@@JurijsJutjajevs That's true! So I think I'll be very happy with an Oase or so!💪
Nice one. I have this filter too
what is the best you like about them?
The integrated heater is really nice for aesthetics, plus the prefilter is so easy to maintain
Hey jurijs, not long purchased the 600 thermo but getting a weird noise from it time to time I’m guessing there isn’t normally any weird noises normally from these filters ?? Cheers
Are you cleaning prefilter regularly? In case you dont underpressure builds up and can be filled with air which can cause the noise
@@JurijsJutjajevs well I’ve found out it was the heater when turning on n off what was making the noise it’s really weird noise but called oase today and they confirmed it was normal still don’t understand if it’s “normal” why is it that some people get it and others don’t thou, never mind thanks anyways 👌🏻👍🏻
does the Oase brings the heater included?
Yes if you buy the thermo version. If not you can upgrade afterwards, this is possible too!
If you don’t unlock it all the way i think you can lower the flow so you don’t have to buy a control flow valve if you need it
exactly, it also mentioned in the manual
Nice simple fine 👍👊🏻. would love to see a more in-depth video about these filters I’m on the fence about getting one.
its hard to go wrong with these filters. Is there any specific questions you would like to see covered in the review video?
Jurijs Jutjajevs how would you adjust the flow on these filters I don’t see any valves I’m looking to put one on a 20 long.
Original Oase outflow pipes come with a flow control tap. If you replace with a lilypipe you don’t have it anymore. In this case you need a tap build into the Hose. One from eheim 😆
Jurijs Jutjajevs Thanks so much that’s what I though 👊🏻
Considering buying Biomaster 250. Do you know if the flow is adjustable? It's not clear on their website.
How did you not know this man. Lol these are the greatest filters ever made. Period. If anyone want to argue with me then let's do it! 👇😠
😂
no one wants to argue 😆
@@JurijsJutjajevs 😂🤣
Great filters but the new types are way to noisy! Already had 1 heater replaced and now a head. It makes 50db..
Hmm, I really hope it’s a single issue and nothing on a bigger scale
I think its because the updated version has got a thingie (no idea wat’s it called) for letting out the air. The heater had moist in it probably bad luck .
I have the biomaster as well and think of upgrading to a aquael ultramax. Any comments or review about the ultramax?
My Oase Bio Master Thermo 600 has a super slow flow rate, it's 0.75 gallons a minute. I changed the head and it still has the same rate.
there are videos about drilling additional holes in the inner prefilter tube to raise flow.
Jurijs - I love this filter too! Where did you get your clear tubing? Also lily pipes that fit the wide tubing?
thank you for your videos
a help I would like my dear ..
I have 60p ..what filter from oase would you suggest?
thank you in advance!!
Biomaster 250 of you want something big, or check the larger filtosmart series
@@JurijsJutjajevs Thank you with appreciation elias
Hi, I’ve got a 350 and it leaks from the quick release handles for the pre filter and pipes. I have changed the rubber seal, but no joy. I would appreciate any advice. Cheers
There is nothing I can suggest, please contact your local Oase dealer
You could try using clear silicone grease with PTFE on all of the rubber gaskets.
Thanks
you can use the a 16/22-12/16 adapter for a smaller outlet, inflow should remain original size
Jurijs Jutjajevs thanks!!
Thank you for all the tips and great videos
as a suggestion I think the music is too loud
thanks again
thank you, I will consider this
One of my oase 350 filters Purge valves leaks when priming, is there any way of taking it apart and putting it right. Thanks for all your help.👍
Yes drilling holes in that pipe inside the prefilter might help too
how is the water oxygenized in this filter please?
How to start the filter? By pumping the water is not coming from the aquarium, only a little bit. How to make the filter silent? I have sound like a river while the water is going throught the filter. Air inside? How to get this air out? Thanks and greetings
Make sure your prefilter is clean and nothing is blocking the inflow. Gently syphon on the outflow of the filter, it should start the filling process
@@JurijsJutjajevs so every time i have to clean the filter i must remove the hose and syphon the filter?
@@JurijsJutjajevs how to make the filter silent? I have the active bacteria material on top in the filter like #aquaowner said.
Steffen K wenn der Pump Kopf nicht ansaugt, dann ist dieser vielleicht defekt. Am besten an den Händler wenden der dir den Filter verkauft hat.
Biomass 600 vs FX6 which is better ??
Is Oase biomaster 350 suitable for 55 gallon aquarium??
Thx 😊
you welcome
Hai mate. I am planning to buy UV external filter for planted aquarium is it possible. How to save my bacteria. Thanks in advance 👍
An aqua scape store owner told me that you can regulate flow in the same way
Great tip! I’d like to hear more about the new filter media that you’re using from Korea. I forget the name. Is it holding up well? Does it clog quickly? Thanks!
Neo media from aquario. It works fine I guess. Difficult to measure how well its working compared to others. but I'm happy with it. The scape I'm using it has had no issues in the long run
Can you help me the flow has reduced a lot and i don’t know why my aquarium is 80 gallons and it seems not enough for my fish thanks 🙏
Thanks!
Great!
Some times complicated problems have very simple solution.....right?
Fantastic....great solution..making maintenance easier is a big plus... by the way, off topic, but you look better in the white tee than the black you always wear.... looks more relaxed!!
I guess time for the Mosscotton white collection 😜
Jurijs Jutjajevs Yes.... time for white tees for sure!!!
