I am sooo sorry that Ivy is going thru this. It is heartbreaking to watch her limp away. I know how you feel as I dealt with white line on a horse that I had years ago. I ended up giving the horse to a farrier that had previously owned him so she could constantly tend to his needs. I boarded him at a facility and it was impossible to get out there enough to treat it properly so I did the best thing for him. Broke my heart to say good bye but he eventually came around. Lots of prayers for sweet Ivy.
Jamie the best mixture for hooves if you can get the ingredients: 1/3rd of purified water, 1/3rd formaldehyde, 1/3rd betadine. It’s a miracle cure. My vet makes it for me and it works wonders. Once the hoof is better, you just need to treat it 2-3 times a week with white clay mixed with some tea tree oil. You put the clay and wait for it to dry out. It protects the hooves from wet conditions. Good luck with Ivy.
Good Saturday morning! Continued prayers ✝️ 🙏 for sweet Ivy 🫏 ! I watch 8 E Rescue Ranch. They treat their horses hooves, put on a baby diaper, wrap with the medical wrap, and then put on duct tape that they already cut to cover the hoof. This would keep her hoof dry. I was just passing this information on just in case you wanted to check it out. ❤
Poor Ivy. She may have what is called seedy toe which is a white line disease caused from poor hygiene such as walking through all the mud and the animal waste but because this is an area full of animals and not anything that you or Lester actually can prevent all one can do it to treat it with anti-bacterial and or anti- fungi meds because it is invasive and causes damage to the keratin and this allows foreign objects and microorganisms to enter the area thus causing all this weakness and pain in this foot. Prayers for her and thank you for staying on top of this and all the other illnesses which may arise when caring for all the animals. God Bless and I hope this helps in resolving some of her pain and suffering so that she can walk better and enjoy herself the way she always has.
Jamie, I watch several Homestead channels. They have several lame horses. Canker in the hoof. Anyway, they use a diaper to put on the bottom of the hoof and then wrap w vet wrap. You might want to try this. It's been successful in keeping the wrap on the hoof clean. Just a suggestion. ❤🫏🙏🏻🙏🏻😘
Morning Jami; just wanted to share with you I worked at a quarter horse farm years ago and then we used Absorbine Jr. for if the horses sprained a ankle or had a muscle weakness we would put Absorbine Jr. on the area and then wrap it. We’d go ice and heat ice and heat but I think right now she needs the warmth. Maybe you thinkanyway keep doing what you’re doing being who you are we all love you.
