Any V4 owners that want me to take your bike out and actually ride it after you have washed the garage queen to dry this cover, please feel free to get in touch 😀

Haha, i was gonna say... never had this issue with mine, probably bcz i never let the thing sit long enough and i've had the cover off on my 2018 at 18k miles and on my 2021 just recently at 7k miles. The heat from the engine will evaporate any water that gets into the foam... just ride the bike after washing and you'll be fine, lol.

For anyone interested check under this cover. I have a tuono with 1000km on it and engine case was starting to get damaged with the wet foam. My advice is either buy gb covers or simply remove the foam from inside the original cover to stop water lodging in it. No difference in sound deadening

Take the cover of and spray ACF50 or similar on the alloy cases this will help.

Interesting that GB Racing cover protects only the most exposed part so is good for a tarmac grind. However the other case protects the whole side of the engine which makes it effective against a gravel trap incident..

The factory cover is just a sound deadener that retains crud. You need Yakety Sax for the sound track.

Fitted my GB Racing covers yesterday on my 19factory, no marks on the casings but the foam in the standard ones was soaking wet.
I tend to wash my bike then put it away in the garage, but even with a dryer it wouldn't dry the foam.
I also removed the redundant stand-off fixings and replaced with cap heads to keep it looking tidy.

Thanks for the heads up. FYI, my understanding is our RSV4s casing covers exist to suppress engine/trans sounds and that’s it. Aprilia didn't fit them for casing protection, at least I didn't see that stated is their purpose. In all reality, we should remove those and replace them with effective covers. I’m in the states and installed a different manufacturers product.

It might just be worth removing, and not putting any engine cover on. None of my other bikes have an engine cover, and it looks like it's mainly for sound deadening...

  • @myaccount6905

I recently ordered carbon covers for my bike. Still waiting for the clutch cover but did receive the alternator one. They are delivered without the foam. At first I swapped the OEM cover with the carbon one without using the foam, only to notice that the engine noise increased a lot…. I ended up pealing the foam from the old cover and using it to fit the new one… the foam has a sound dampening purpose.
I’m pretty sure that clutch will be a lot noisier after you’ve fitted that R&G cover…
