    A short time with otis, I remember, with 10 or 11 years listening every day to otis with my small transisteradio , I remember I was shocked by the dead off a funky soulman. Always love.

  • @PaulDA2000
    @PaulDA2000 9 лет назад +2

    You all have a right to your opinions lol, but as maybe James Brown's biggest fan, I have to say this is not even close to James Brown's versions. It's very funky,but the band is too loose. You can tell the difference in the tightness right away.I never was a fan of Otis Redding. I prefer Mr. Brown's voice over Mr. Redding's.

    • @virgilsignore1351
      @virgilsignore1351 8 лет назад +8

      +PaulDA2000 Otis had it all over James Brown. If Otis had lived, he would have blown right by Brown in popularity. The guy crammed so many great songs in a short 5 year career. He was truly amazing. Nobody had more soul than Otis. Nobody.

    • @PaulDA2000
      @PaulDA2000 8 лет назад +4

      You have a right to your opinion, and maybe Otis would have been more popular, because he was going the pop route, singing mellower with "Dock of the Bay". But that means nothing. James Brown was far more creative than Otis could ever be. James Brown CREATED a musical genre, funk. No other artist has ever actually single handedly created a musical genre. James Brown made people come to him on his terms, he didn't lighten up his music to attract more record buyers.

    • @virgilsignore1351
      @virgilsignore1351 8 лет назад +5

      +PaulDA2000 James Brown had the funk and the fancy dance moves but Otis had the deepest soul I have ever heard. He certainly was the master of the soul ballad. I will put "I've Been Loving You Too Long" and "Try a Little Tenderness" up against anything by James Brown or any other soul artist. Brown's "Please, Please, Please" was good but certainly not up to the level of Redding's best ballads. Otis was truly the "King of Soul".
