- A signature story from Escape has John Dehner trying to get the heck OUT of Chung King during the war, as he's trying to buy any ticket to any steamer . . . Even attempting to purchase a Chinese "Junk." After he takes a surprise Karate kick to the back, he wakes up in a (female, American) doctor's office . . . Now without his money. With help from the doctor (the help comes surprisingly quickly and easily) he's able to get transportation . . . Not looking g after he gets onboard a boat, he begins to be pursued by law men and shady characters t'boot! But he doesn't know why . . . Later, we'll learn all about the "Shanghai Document." Great story with plenty of action, great sound quality.
Did I mention that the doctor is beautiful? Now, that's a surprise.

✓✓✓✓√✓√√√ STUFF-N-SUCH: I think John Dehner made an appearance on just about every 1950's and 1960's TV western! One of his last MOVIE appearances was in "Airplane II - The Sequel"
(I've mentioned those things before. This time it's for new readers of my descriptions)

A fun story with an interesting twist at the end.
Good one
Nice twist 👌🏾
Another Masterpiece!
I agree (as usual) It is a really good story.
Love reading the extra details you include.
Great! I'm glad
A lot of these OTR adventure stories seem to pick China as their "faraway place with strange-sounding names". This is one of the more authentic-feeling ones IMO.
Mr. Paladin and hey boy and John use his real last name
Did I hear William Conrad & John Dehner refer to the Arkansas River & Kansas? lmao. Great story and Gun Smoke references. It’s a small radio world. Thanks from Orlando Florida
Perhaps the Arkansas river flows through Shanghai.
I wonder if John Dehner had it in his contract that his character should be named after him...
Whatever happened to xylene?
