- Medusa, also called Gorgo, is one of the most complex and misunderstood creatures of all mythologies, in my opinion a peculiarly good way to start a new year, wondering what makes us beautiful or ugly and what those words really mean.
Here is my first tribute for the new year. I deeply hope you'll like it !

She's always fascinated me :)
Hail Medusa, who will live until the end of times in the oceans!
Slumbering in the darkest depth of the elysian gardens, there she is, resting from a long live. Once raised and trained by the godess Athena, her strength failed to protect her from the gaze and hands of poseidon. A terrible curse struck her and she suffered for years, crying over the foresaking of the godess she loved like a mother and sending a terrible curse over poseidon
A horrific monster and softsouled victim. Snakes as hair, skales as skin, claws instead of hands, golden wings and a gaze with such sadness that it turns all to stone that look back and show fear. Queen of the gorgons and cursed priestess: medusa

3:12 Caught me off guard .I still enjoyed the whole piece .
Background = VERY NICE
Instruments = Nice
Vocals = Powerfull .Not bad at all .
I think this is nice for Medusa . My only problem was that I expected propably the ending to be closer to 2:39 .
I expected a slow start ...strong medium part and then a very fast intense finale . I love the part at 3:20 for Medusa .....I LISTEN TO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN !!.

Hi, I've been listening to your music for some time and I really like your work. I've been waiting for the piece for Medusa and I absolutely love it! Medusa is one of my favourites of Greek mithology (that's why I also have a tattoo of Medusa) and I think you made her justice 🙌

@ you are very welcome 😊 I read that there are some variations of Medusa's story, but the one you decided to represent is my favourite (if I remember correctly it is the Ovid's one). Medusa was punished despite being only the victim of the situation, even though I read some interesting theories saying her punishment could have been intended as a "blessing" instead, so she could protect herself from others. You will definitely see me on the next videos 👍😊 do you have plans to do also new norse ones in the new year?
@@gloria_9858 Yes I can confirm all you said about Medusa . It's true . I know cause I am Greek . Medusa was punished by Poseidon and then by Athena . Athena didn't want to clash with another God so she expressed her rage on poor Gorgo . And thus Medusa was born . But I like to believe that Athena didn't do this to hurt Gorgo . Athena created Medusa propably to protect Medusa \Gorgo from Poseidon and also to allow later A HERO ...Perseus to kill the beast so that Gorgo can rest in peace and that would also begin the age of heroes .The age when man decides to make a big step for himself and start making big deets that will of course remain in history . That's my theory of course . Cause Athena is the goddess of wisdom , she knows what she is doing .
@@phillmor1405 thank you for confirming that I remember correctly that theory. It is also how I would like to think how the story went. How could Athena, being the Goddess of wisdom, punish a victim? Speaking of punishments, if I remember correctly, the story of Arachne is quite similar, and I read that there are some different variations about it too, right? 🤔
Ps. I hope I'm not bothering you, it's one of the rare times that I can actually speak with someone that knows about mithology or is passionate about it 😅
@@gloria_9858 I wish all the young people I know would talk to me a bit about greek and other mythologies .I don't have a lot of friends cause most people here talk all the time about football and many of them are very rude .So I am very happy that you talk to me about greek mythology now !!.
If you want to know about Arachne / Αράχνη she tried to kill herself after Athena beat her ( we don't know who won actually that contest between Athena and Arachne ) but Arachne was devastated after that incident and Athena saved her from suicide by turning her into a small animal .A spider .In greek spider means αράχνη .Αράχνη = arachne

For those who don't know, Medusa being a cursed former priestess of Athena (or rather, Minerva) was a retcon by the Roman poet Ovid in his work "Metamorphoses". In the original Greek myth (Hesiod's Theogony) Medusa and her sisters were born gorgons. They were part of a large family of monsters spawned by the sea gods Phorkys and Keto. This family also included Ekhidna (mate of the great monster Typhon), the Graiai, and the multi-headed dragon Ladon.
So there is an alternative to the depressing tale of a rape victim being punished for her plight!

Yes, I so agree with you. A Patriarchal society will do that to suppress women. Medusa is a beautiful goddess with a lot of medical knowledge. Medb in Welsh. Late Bronze Age was a fascinating time! Women had all the power, and we thrived to cure diseases with the cures from the earth. Such as from plants and snakes.
@@ValeriePoynter i feel was less about woman and patriarcjal society and more Ovid little pitty revenge, his point was not to make Medusa weaker ( that was more a side effect that i also dislike) but the paint both Poseidon and Athena as evil and abusive, because Ovid hate authority figures, so he villanize ( more) the gods to show everyone "look authority figures are bad"

Played out and transitioned FLAWLESSLY like a story. From finding her dwelling to discovering the gorgon, and approaching her. Then from being pursued by her, to being petrified in horror. Then followed by the "calmness" that follows death, to her retreating back in loneliness

I just checked (because I use and mix several things usually 😁) and I used "Steel Plates" by East West in their old collection "Symphonic Orchestra Platinum Percussions" which is fantastic.
I also got Clanggg from Soundpaint which is very handy, quite effective and less expensive :)
