      James Berry Grow up you simpleton, you utter fool and accept reality. "The Christ myth found fertile soil in the Soviet Union, where it was supported by Sergey Kovalev, Alexander Kazhdan, Abram Ranovich, Nikolai Rumyantsev, Robert Vipper and Yuri Frantsev.[108] Later, however, several scholars, including Kazhdan, retracted their views about mythical Jesus and by the end of the 1980s Iosif Kryvelev remained as virtually the only proponent of Christ myth theory in Soviet academia.[109]
      "There is near universal assent that Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist and was crucified under Pontius Pilate"[11]

      James Berry Are you freaking mad? The reason I mentioned the Soviet Union is because no one, no historian, ever argued the historicity of Jesus until the Soviet Union started trying to prove it (hence why it said the movement found fertile ground).

      +vedran lekić You're telling them learn something? Read the bible. Look at the values of your religion. You watch videos like this with your mind already made up before you press play. Let us see how wrong in stupid this person is on this subject. Already judging, already thinking of what nonsense is being spewed out of your speakers. Christians preach about love, yet they are the first people to point out everything wrong with everyone else; well, except with themselves. You preach God loves everyone. Jesus can set you free. Except, except, if you're a homosexual, Muslim, Jew, someone who eats pork or shellfish, wear cloth made of different fibers, are a woman that isn't a virgin on her wedding night, a kid that disrespects their own parents, or a child of inter-racial breeding. The list goes on and on. Christians have taken the bible and picked from the book what they want to believe in. The whole book is from your God, why don't you believe in all of it? You demand the 10 commandments to be put up all over this country in schools, courtrooms, every government building. Besides the 1st Amendment stopping that, there aren't 10 commandments. There are 613 commandments. Except for Christians, those other 603 commandments were only meant for the Jews, not us. Over 5,000 Gods have came before Yahweh and Allah, and they have all died. Guess who's God is next on that list?

    • @vedranlekic9725
      @vedranlekic9725 8 лет назад

      Shane S- What you just said is terribly mislead and poor. Quote specific biblical verses or STFU. You cant just go around accusing people of these things. Dont you fear God? You wouldnt know what love wasunless there was Christianity that withheld a definition of self sacrificial love and that this definition of love was reproduced trough subsequent generations. The slavery was first abolished (in a permanent manner) because of a sentiment in Sachenspiegel in the 1220 that Men are made in an image of God and therefore to subjugate the image of God is a blasphemy. Why do you think people discarded slavery. No other civilisation did so in any permanent manner except the Christian European. In Dubrovnik anyone coming as a slave was instantly freed. That too was based on the value of humans to God. Since no man can serve two masters and the only master of humans was God claiming to be own humans was a grave sin. The value of human life was given to humans by God and that is why we even know that human life is valuable. Something that is less and less obvious in these "liberal" times. The value of human life resides in a concept of communal humanity that is strictly connected to Christianity. In India and China the collective human identity was non existent. It was castes and classes.
      Other Gods never existed or existed as something else that was not a God. All other gods had a creator (so they were created) that they themselves worshiped and that is documented for almost all religions. These beings came to the earth made humans worship them, mated with human females and created demigods but they worshiped their creator ( the Annunaki worshipped the Word, the Gods of the Greek claimed that there was greater force behind the universe that controlled their destiny so that they were powerless before it etc.)
      Bible claims that the eternal God created everything including the Messengers and the Watchers these watchers came to earth made humans worship them, they mated with human females and claimed that they worship God and were eventually punished.
      The God is the God of Gods and the Lord of Lords.
      So logically, there is no one God further maxim because all others were no gods to begin with.

      John Doe
      Far better to believe that life arises spontaneously from dirt; and that this structured and axial universe arose from a fiery and chaotic explosion, and that we do not sit above 1.5 miles of sedimentary rock containing the perfectly-preserved remnants of millions of creatures apparently drowned in some unimaginable ancient Flood.
      Eh, John?

      You obviously don't understand abiogenesis if you think it "arose from dirt" or that the Big Bang was a "fiery and chaotic explosion". The fact you believe in the children's story of the great flood says a lot about you.
      Here are some problems with your flood fairy tale.
      www.talkorigins.org/faqs/faq-noahs-ark.html

    • @timwebb1000
      @timwebb1000 10 лет назад

      You don't understand abiogenesis either. Mainly because it doesn't exist, except as a falsifiable hypothesis. Life arises from life, pure and simple. Most adults know this.
      Wrt your implicit claim to know exactly what form the mythical BB took, then I suggest that you are due the next NP in astrophysics, because no-one else knows. The theories are legion, and constantly being abandoned and reformulated, as their illogicality and impossibility become ever more blindingly obvious, even to children.
      I quickly looked at your link to the problems with the Flood of Noah.
      One objection was that the Ark could not have been built to be seaworthy because of wood's inherent fragility.
      It will surprise you to learn that the Ark was laminated, as in "made of a kind of plywood". Doubtless Wiki will be able to fill in the gaps in your knowledge about this method of construction.
      Fascinatingly, its rivets were also made of an iron-aluminium-titanium alloy.
      The link also refers to the apparent problem in that dinosaurs are thought to have died out 65mya. Dr Mary Schweitzer, and now many others, have news for you, and it isn't good.
      Even Job spells out the description of these creatures; see his chapters 40 and 41, but don't let anyone see you opening your Bible; they might think badly of you, and begin to doubt your sanity.
      Trying not to be nasty or smart in what I say; but I would honestly recommend that you have a good look at Dr Walt Brown's w/s, The Center for Creation Science.
      Many of the logical difficulties you may have with the Biblical account are resolved there, and by a man who is very clearly, neither a fool nor a charlatan.

    • @MrRJPE
      @MrRJPE 10 лет назад +7

      timwebb1000
      Of course abiogenesis hasn't been proved to the the source of life, otherwise it would be taught in all the text books as fact. It is, however, a possible answer to where life came from. You seem to think because something is falsifiable that makes it automatically false? That is nonsense. Everything in science is falsifiable in principle, though it can't always be tested.
      I find it interesting that you assume something is possible or impossible and yet your understand of each is based on your knowledge of science. Then again, a hundred years ago people thought other things were impossible which today are not, because of our advancements in science.
      I looked around for information on this Dr Walt Brown and only find him on creation science websites. That's a good indication that he doesn't practice actual science. His whole hydroplate theory is not accepted by any credible scientist and was obviously just made up to explain where all the water came from for great flood to be plausible. There is no evidence this hypothesis of his is real or even that the flood happened.
      You talk a lot about logic yet seem to use none yourself. This is why people believe in creation pseudoscience.

    • @timwebb1000
      @timwebb1000 10 лет назад

      Walt Brown has his own w/s, "The Center for Creation Science".
      It has hundreds of pages; closely argued and hard if not impossible to refute. His scientific credentials are obvious; and if you listen to him speak, it is also obvious that he is a very intelligent man, and whether mistaken or not, at least deserves to be heard out.
      Re. your rather sophisticated observations about falsifiablity; the vast majority of the scientific understanding we rely upon has some obvious relation, at least superficially, to the evidence or the phenomena we see around us.
      So whilst it is possible to say that gravity might not always be the guiding principle by which objects tend to fall towards other centres of mass, the theory at least has some *prima facie* credibility.
      However, the theory of abiogenesis has none. Not one single scrap of evidence points towards it as being a possible explanation for life. As such, it is a complete negation of the principles by which science is done. It is a theory which doesn't have even a single *misinterpreted* fact to support it, let alone a solid fact. Its only apparent credibility came from the observation that maggots were seen to emerge from rotting flesh.
      We then went on to realise that prior to this event, flies had landed unseen, and deposited their eggs thereon.
      So the theory stands wholly outside the realm of science; it is simply a delusional belief system entertained only by delusionals, who will do anything to escape from the direct statement of the God they hate; ie that it was He Who breathed life into man, and thus by inference, into the entire Creation.
      Further to your remark that I assume certain things to be possible, and others impossible, based upon limited understanding.
      My beliefs are firmly based not on my own admittedly limited understanding, but foursquare upon what God has said. Thus if God says that He led the C of I across the Red Sea, then I believe that without reservation, and in fact YT has video evidence for this event; thus my faith in His word is confirmed.
      However, if NASA says that it has sent men to the moon, and rovers into space, then I first ask God what He says about this, and I find the clear message of scripture which refutes the claims of man.
      "And *no man hath ascended into heaven* but He that came down from heaven, even the Son of Man which is in heaven".
      This scriptural message fully accords with the firmly-held and closely-argued opinion of many ordinary and averagely-intelligent men and women who reject what appear to be the lies perpetrated by NASA.
      You do not believe that there is any evidence that the Flood happened.
      If this is the case, then you must explain why a great ship with rivets made from an iron-titanium-aluminium alloy, of the precise dimensions given for the Ark, has been found upon the Mountains of Ararat.
      You must further explain why the various layers delineated beneath earth's surface, clearly sedimentary in nature, have never been observed to be eroded by water etc, relative to each other.
      Science in its simplest guise would tell the enquiring soul that this is clear evidence not necessarily about Who caused these layers to be placed one upon another, but simply that they must all have been laid down within a very few years at most; or as the Bible categorically asserts, during a period of one year.

      +Maxim Lekov. Greetings Maxim, hope you are well. Christianity is 2000 years old not 200, 20 or 2, in that time there has been one CONTINUAL and multifaceted attempt to wipe it out completely and utterly; beginning with the slaughter of the innocents, the betrayal and thence the merciless public execution [attempted] of its founder via a methodology regarded so horrendous by the Romans, that by their law no Roman citizen could be crucified. Swiftly followed by the almost systematic murder of its adherents. Attempts at wiping it out range then from betrayal, organised heresies and laws and actions of whole empires and states, such as the Roman Empire, right though history to the likes of the USSR, all this aided and abetted by cruel and sweeping ideologies such as Communism. They have all failed. Included in the endless list are of course are countless individuals, both deranged and otherwise, of which our Hitch, a substance abusing, alcoholic, constitutes just another one. A man for whom his attempts at destroying the faith have led to fame, idolisation and a very lucrative career; indeed perhaps he should get to his knees and thank God for Christianity [essentially], otherwise he would have been - just like Mr Dawkins - another unknown would-be or wanna-be intellectual of whom very few people would ever have heard. Their attacks have [had] made them wealthy. Christianity has always and will always continue to make a good target for so many, for so much, and for those many often for the wrong reasons. Meanwhile of course . . . . .

      +Maxim Lekov Hitchins Anyone that has a poor view of redemption, as Hutchins reveals in the video above, cannot understand the beautiful sentiment behind it. Redemption is not scapegoating or not taking responsibility. Redemption is taking full responsibility for what you've done with a pledge to be a better man in return for forgiveness. How could anyone argue against the idea of redemption?

    • @Simon-nv5zj
      @Simon-nv5zj 9 лет назад +24

      john197039 because it implies that we are born into sin and must submit to an all knowing, all powerful god that must be loved and feared. It most definitely is a way of scapegoating due to the fact that as long as you "repent" and ask forgiveness, then you actually don't have to take any responsibility to negative actions towards your fellow man. Any idealogy that states that humans are born into sin is a crock of shit in my opinion.

  • @BarriosGroupie
    @BarriosGroupie 3 года назад +8

    As mentioned by Hitchens, scapegoating our social responsibility played a big part in me leaving Christianity. The idea that God and his later human sacrifice, rather than the victim of our bad behaviour, should forgive us is the belief of a psychopath.

      Peter Metcalfe
      Hitchens, rather, is an insufferable and pompous prig, spewing forth all the lies and illogic and genuine venom against the Most High granted only to the more important servants of satan.
      Perhaps you can explain to us something that Hitchens was unable to.
      Namely, that if I were to pay your debt to somebody, because you couldn't, surely that would then give me the right to forgive you before your creditor?
      What further case against you could your creditor possibly have?
      Logical? Legally admissible? Any flaw in the logic here?
      But Chris couldn't understand this "perfect common sense and logic".
      So perhaps the religious, or the Christian at any rate, are several steps ahead of you, and he, with their logic.

    I like his point at the beginning about how Christianity was only introduced 2000 years ago, meanwhile human beings had been suffering for centuries before while (the Christian) God sat by and did nothing. What kind of a cruel sadistic being is that? Certainly not one worthy of worship. All religions are so obviously manmade it's hilarious to think that people in the 21st actually believe that they somehow lucked into the "one truth faith".

    Here is food for thought. My buddy is a Christian. He got into a church dispute with other Christians and took a ball bat to the windshields of some of their cars. In the end he repented and Jesus forgave him. The owners of the cars didn't forgive him. In fact, they had no idea it was him who did the damage. Jesus forgave my buddy and yet did nothing at all for the car owners with broken windshields.

      "I have yet to see any evidence that disproves the existence of God."
      Real God(s) might actually exist. The Abrahamic God (Jew/Christian/Muslim) mythology makes testable claims that are verfiably false. And that's what I said.
      eg.
      "Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am." ~ Jesus. John 14:12-14.
      That's a testable claim. Do you believe in Jesus? Go raise a dead person. According to Jesus, you can do that and even greater things.
      Or is Jesus a fraud and a liar?

    • @SicQueldorei
      @SicQueldorei 11 лет назад +1

      TheHigherVoltage Raising the dead was not "the work of Christ". The work of Christ was spreading the word of Gods love and sacrifice so that all of mankind may be free from the bonds of sin. He is basically saying if you truly believe in me you'll continue my work. You can pick and choose biblical verses to "prove" your point but it is painfully obvious that you either don't understand the verses you're quoting or are intentionally twisting them to fit your purpose (something the very religious people you show contempt for have been doing for thousands of years).

    • @TheHigherVoltage
      @TheHigherVoltage 11 лет назад +4

      Adam Hunsicker I understand bible mythology just fine...and you're being dishonest about this verse.
      "Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am." ~ Jesus. John 14:12-14.
      Do even greater works/things. Explain the meaning of this 'greater things' if 'works' is just prostelytizing. Explain the contradiction you've just created by redefining 'works' and 'things' to now mean proselytizing.
      Jesus is consistent in his claim that believers will be granted supernatural powers.
      "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
      They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." ~ Mark 156:15-18.
      And these signs shall follow them that believe : speak with new tongues....laying on hands...
      How many new languages could you suddenly speak when you became a bapitzed believer? With so many baptized believers around, why do we even have hospitals? Why aren't baptized believers curing children of cancers?
      "Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven." ~ Jesus. Matt 18:19.
      Well, here we are. Two people on earth. According to Jesus, if we two people on earth agree on anything...say, that every child with cancer should be miraculously cured by Christmas, it will be done by Yahweh for us.
      Jesus verifiably lies. That's just the verifiable truth.
      You said : "spreading the word of Gods love and sacrifice"
      'Love' does not include "I may light on fire and tortured for eternity". 'Sacrifice' means actually giving something up. Not "I will suffer for a bit, then I'll be King of the Universe"
      Bible mythology is sadistic nonsense, sold as love.

    So few believers' responses to Christopher's points seem to actually understand the force behind them and why they are so convincing to us who used to (or never did) believe. It's like they are in a different world and they simply don't understand the criticisms in any meaningful way. The unwarranted confidence in the one who thinks that, "well, the bible is perfect and has never been proven wrong" is the mic-dropping retort to silence all critics is certainly funny, but also sad. It is hard to have an actual conversation about these things with them when they think retreating into the unassailable fortress of faith is a commendable thing to do. Instead, it is the intellectual equivalent of plugging one's ears and loudly declaring, "It's not true!" over and over again. It's hard to respect that.

I wish a loving God would intervene with many things. It's about hope. A hope that this life has some kind of meaning besides just saying, "your life had meaning because you loved people or helped an old lady across the street." Be we don't get that. We get predictions of earthquakes and wars which is not a prophecy. The only boy prophecy that could seem hood would be the OT writers saying a messiah would come and Jesus fitting the description. BUT, you could say the NT writters copied the OT to make it fit, so it's debatable.

Hitchens is against hipocritical and moralistic christianity that strives to create fear and punishment amongst people. He is also criticising the hopelessness evangelicalism teaches that how much you ever try, you are still as horrible sinner as before. I am also critical against this, and I'm a christian. The historical church and teaching from the first centuries are also against this.

      Sure, but he's also just showing how even if there was evidence of this god (and there isn't) he would be either hopelessly incompetent or an evil dictator. Better follow Our Glorious Leader and call him a god of love or he'll throw you into the fire to burn for eternity! (Well, he won't do it personally, but within his regime where he's said to be all-powerful you will definitely end up there!)

    • @Kralperri
      @Kralperri 8 лет назад

      Maj Magister The view of God being that way is the misconseption of some protestant and catholic groups. Historically, this was not the view of who God is. The view of God that Hitchens is against I am also against! God does not send people to hell, we as people choose to follow Him or not to follow Him. Sometimes this is simplified so much that God becomes a judgemental and tyrranical god.

    • @majmage
      @majmage 8 лет назад +2

      Kralperri Er, but I covered all that.
      _"god does not send people to hell"_
      *And Kim Jong Un doesn't throw people into prison!* Not _personally_. Instead, the regime he has total control over does the prison-sentencing.
      Do you believe Kim Jong Un is a nice guy?
      _"we as people choose to follow him or not"_
      *North Koreans choose to follow their leader or not.* They have a choice. If they make the wrong choice, they're thrown in prison or killed.
      Do you believe North Korea would be a nice place to live?
      Thankfully god has one thing going for him: no evidence exists proving his existence, so he's fictional. When given a choice of whether to be threatened by a real dictator or a fictional one, logically we would choose the fictional one (and then promptly ignore the threats, which are also fictional).

    • @Kralperri
      @Kralperri 8 лет назад

      Maj Magister I understand your point. If seeing God as a dictator your conclusion is completely accurate. The traditional Christian understanding of God, however, says that without God our soul has no life (which of course requires belief in that we have a soul) the same way as our body has no life without water or food. He is life and not a dictator. Sadly many protestants in the US put extremely much emphasis on the latter.
      Regarding His existence there is no proof and neither is there proof of that He does not exist. That's why it requiers faith alone to believe in Him (and of course evaluating arguments for and against His existence).

    • @majmage
      @majmage 8 лет назад +1

      Kralperri Do you have answers to these questions? If Christians believe god is all-powerful then he could have set up any sort of system he wanted. That means he _willfully chose_ one that resembles an authoritarian regime where dissenting ideas are punished with eternal torture.

      Actually he didn't those are all the basic questions atheists ask which can be easily answered if you people would actually pick the book up and read it for yourselves but no you want to just quickly judge it without first doing an investigation. Which is what fact comes out of and if you can't investigate for yourself then sir you are unqualified to even be giving a professional opinion. I said professional opinion you can still give an opinion it just wouldn't be reliable without deep investigation. Key word deep which means read chosen books all the way through.

      Paul Gross
      Ok well first off time is only temporary for now so how do you punish someone in an eternal state? You punish them and it's never ending bc it never stops bc it's eternal. You would think a scientist would understand that but they don't bc they choose darkness over light when light is truth. And Jesus paying our debt is just like our economic system if I wanted to pay a persons debt that person would have to agree to it first. It's literally that simple. But scientists want to dismiss religion bc they heard its thousands years old and they heard from there friends it's unreliable so when they look at certain verses they condemn the religion. It's like a redefined way of judging a book by its cover it's honestly pathetic and that is the truth. I love science btw so I know all about geometric dating, historic, observational science and so on. But just like 200 years ago we still don't have the definitive proof of how our universe was created. Am I honestly going to believe that billions and billions of stars expanding billions and billions of light years just one day decided to exist? Yeah actually but on one condition. That the hand of an intelligent higher being thought it out and commanded it to happen. And atheists often forget that My God created the very laws that they study so disproving God by explaining laws of physics and relativity and so on doesn't work. Hell was prepared for Satan and the Angels that followed him and our race fell bc Satan wanted to get back at God by tempting our race into disobeying God and because we ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil our race was cursed but God so loved the world that he gave his only son Jesus who is God manifested in flesh that whosoever believes in him shall have eternal life. The Bible speaks a lot of truth it's a 60 chapter book written by 40 different authors who come from 40 different walks of life all in unity with each other with zero contradiction. And theologians can tell you that. God is real Hell is real repent from sin and turn to God and trust me you will not regret it.
      And not to mention the fulfilled prophecy accurately described like Israel coming back as a nation and signing a peace treaty with Egypt also all the 57% decline of wild animals. I mean I can go on. And parts of the Bible even talk about how the universe works in the book of job for example when God is making a point to him he mentions the earth having no visible force keeping it suspended and how the belt of Orion is loose I mean these are gravitational properties it's mentioning and how can anyone possibly know these things especially about the earth without seeing it.
      And honestly I've yet to look this up but if evolution has so much evidence then can someone tell me which organs we evolved first? I mean amoebas were doing just fine without lungs why did we all of a sudden need them?
      I also want to mention why I forget what they call themselves geologists I think? Anyway they talk about how a global flood is impossible and yet we find fish fossils on mountains and scientists have said they have no idea why.
      And to be honest any atheist who's "come out of Christianity" was never really Christian anyway. When you are truly Christian you change so immediately and so drastically it changes your very mind of everything you do. Not just your beliefs but everything. When people become Christians they are freed from addictions and haunting emotions. And all these things are easily described in the Bible which has survived so many attempts to destroy its existence. Great men whom I believe to have been inspired by God have risked there very lives translating and preserving the sacred texts.
      Not only that but it is obvious there are supernatural occurences like ghosts I mean you can disbelieve it all you want but thee are so many accounts of near death experiences that have been studied and researched scientists claim it to be a survival thing our brain uses to comfortably die. And that's the thing yeah sure science can explain it but that doesn't dismiss it from being God. He created the very laws of nature.
      I mean the evidence is amazing I can personally testify as I read the Bible there is an incredible amount of unity for a book WRITTEN BY 40 DIFFERENT MEN FROM 40 DIFFERENT WALKS OF LIFE. I mean come on if it's not God it's something bc like I mentioned above they could explain gravitational properties if our universe. Seriously the only truly reasonable explanation for all this is God. Scientists methods of "proving" things like the earths age using seemingly unreliable methods such as geo metric dating even though it's deemed the opposite is just absurd. I mean if it is so reliable why the 50 million year range?
      I mean come on this book is the most ignored and yet the most significant Jesus death was the very thing that seperated time. I forget what it was a.c b.c I mean you get what I'm saying. This book is just the most incredible thing to have ever existed and honestly why oppose it? I can understand when believers are arguing with atheists for no reason but seriously? Is there any harm in preaching about this amazing love? When I came to Christ oh man I had so much weight on my shoulders and heavy anxiety but he lifted it all off in a matter of seconds and I just felt over joyed. Call it what you will but with everything else I've mentioned I'm convinced.

      I never said I have divorced myself from the OT. Find me where it says to burn witches or kill homosexuals. I'm really interested. Literally the only thing I find related to Christianity and Nigeria is Christians getting KILLED. Not doing the killing.
      Regarding the OT, the Bible is a sophisticated book. It's not even a book actually. It's a library. It's 66 different books written at different times by different people for different purposes. People think they can just read the 2014 English translation of a book written 3000 years ago and think they have the right interpretation.
      Look at the context and original text of the OT and tell me again how immoral it is.

    • @ericstrickland4930

      Big Dave
      Again, the vast majority of the search results I get are of Christians getting killed, not killing. Besides, the media doesn't report on all of the great things Christians are doing around the world. Nobody cares about that. The media is all about violence and killing. That's what people are interested in.
      Besides, this is a moot point because Christ wouldn't approve of any killing anyway.
      I'm sure atheists wouldn't appreciate me saying that atheism is evil because of Mao or Pol Pot or Stalin, so why criticize Christianity because of Christians who aren't even following the teachings of Christ?

    • @hplovehandle
      @hplovehandle 10 лет назад +1

      Because nobody has ever killed in the name of atheism. Mao,Pol Pot etc learned their particular style of despotism from Stalin who admitted the "cult of personality" was impressed upon him when he was a trainee priest. Maybe the percentage of christians killing is smaller,so it should be if they are "practicing" christians but numbers are irrelevant. It is the fact that all religions cause strife and turmoil that I find so distasteful.I'm an ex christian from a hardline protestant background and we were taught to beware of catholics,just because they worshipped incorrectly,so please don't try the"correct" christian approach. Do you think not for tomorrow,do you give everything away and own nothing? Surely that would be real christianity?

    There are TWO wind situations in the photograph. One is heading south from the Mediterranean. This one DOES NOT carry sand with it. The other is the STRONGER of the two, the northeasterly wind from Africa. When the southerly wind meets the north-easterly it does not divert it or prevent it from crossing The Red Sea, it only pushes the whole mass southward. The sand storm problem does not occur until they meet,which is half way down.Thus travelers above that intersection would be spared the brunt

    He took all the World's Sin on his shoulders for all of our mistakes. Jesus didn't just die on a cross; he went to HELL for us. He died because he loves us even when we ALL pushed him out of our lives. 😇✝

      😂😢 HE DIED BUT 3 DAYS LATER HE CAME BACK TO LIFE WHAT IS THE POINT, AND AFTER THAT HE LIVED FOREVER IN HEAVEN. SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD DEAL TO ME

    That's the point! We should be punished for our sins, it's not right for someone else to take our sins. But that's where grace abounds! It shouldn't make any sense and it doesn't. But that's the beauty of Jesus.
    Also we must realize that almost every historian of this field will say Jesus was a real person(there's no getting around that, unless you are just being oblivious on purpose), the question is did Jesus really do what he said he was going to do(die on a cross and rise from the grave). That's where the believing part comes in in Christianity.

    "The struggle, so violent in the early days of science, between the views of Ptolemy and Copernicus would then be quite meaningless. Either CS could be used with equal justification. The two sentences, 'the sun is at rest and the earth moves,' or 'the sun moves and the earth is at rest,' would simply mean two different conventions concerning two different CS." Albert Einstein (CS = coordinate systems)

    The bit about "Let my people go" was part of the act, so that the priesthood of Amun (the power elite) would suspect neither his true identity nor his true motive. By appealing to his successors (his sons Semenke and Tut, both of whom died mysteriously after a brief reign) he hoped to avoid assasination. When his sons co-operated, the priesthood might have assassinated them and gone after him.

    Sandstorms on The Red Sea tend to cross it from west to east, which would effectively create a barrier to chariots coming up from the south of Egypt. As the narrowest channel in the Red Sea (where Moses was apparently headed) is to the north, it is very possible that it could have REMAINED behind them as they traveled northward, even as it raced across the lower basin. I think the author means that Moses (who was The Guide) directed the party in respect of the storm's position.

    Humans can’t take away sins of others but God in Christ can because He determines what is just and Jesus died for the glory of God. Humans die because they sinned, Jesus died to show God’s justice and forgiveness at the cross.

    And yet, the three religious books I mentioned are far more well known the world over than any Chinese text, especially the Christian Bible, which is the most printed book in world history and translated into all speaking languages. It would seem that, if you want to attribute such things to God, the plan to make his message most available to all cultures worked perfectly.

    Not that my interpretation would be definitive but--I see it as being a DISTANT sandstorm that guided them in the sense of providing a wall of sand to obscure them from their pursuers' sight, something to keep in front of so as to hide themselves, obscure their tracks and make horse-driven chariots very impractical. I would say that a twister or tornado would qualify as a sort of pillar. In any case columns of sand are elements of desert storms, and we're not exactly sure of our inflection here.

    Without faith it is impossible to please God... faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Belief is an act of the will... a response to the effectual call of God through/by His Spirit.

    Good old Hitch, R.I.P. sir.
    The only thing I disagree with Hitch is the start date of man's evolution. It is now more than 4 000 000 years ago. This strengthens Hitch's argument even more and strikes another blow to Creationists.

      Homo sapiens is about 200 000 years old. The earliest homo gene about 4 million.

      I would say that our species evolution started with the first life on the planet.
