LA boy here. I was there in 1970 w a girlfriend. Lovely German couple we sat near took us home and had us stay w them at their beautiful house in Starnberg on the lake.
When I went to Oktoberfest, I was in the US Army in Germany. Our unit went down there on a bus tour. I got split up from my group, and ended up in the Augustinerbrau tent. The beer there was the nectar of the gods. I'm pretty fluent in German, and I ended up with a group of happy Tiroleans from Austria. It was great fun. Why do people think that Austrians are unfriendly? They're the best!
If you have a small group you don't need reservations for any of the tents. Just give one of the bier fraus 20 euros and she will find you a place at a table.
That might be true on change over times or during the week, like Monday or Tuesday. I have plenty of time had it happen where they won’t let you into the tent at all unless you have a reservation.
Doesnt matter what tent, after a couple of liters of bier one will have a great time. That is if you remember. I know i only remeber my 2 liters.. but had a great time and met great people. PROST!
I really enjoyed your video. The funny thing is that your #1 tent is my least favorite. The Hofbräu (pronounced HOF-broy, btw) is probably the least local and is by far the youngest crowd. Crabby middle-aged guys like myself feel much more comfortable at the Augustiner Festhalle, your #10. The Käfer Wiesn Schänke is really cool and all the timbers inside remind me of our old dairy barn here in Wisconsin. How come you pointed out the Bavaria monument but neglected to warn of the perils of the adjoining Kotzhügel?? :-)
Appreciate the feedback! I'd say "Hoof-bry" is a bit more how it is pronounced in Bavaria, I mention that in my online Oktoberfest tents guide but used the international version in the video. Looking back at the video and can definitely see Augustiner being ranked much higher next year. I love the beer there the most and it's in my personal top 5 tents but in had to weigh a lot of factors outside of personal preference in the current ranking. With Puke Hill, I'll be adding it and a warning to not become a beer corpse on my 2020 tent video for sure. I had also fogot to mention in the video that the Tradition Tent closes every 4 years so I have a few small gaps to improve on for sure
@@Bigboytravel I've been to Oktoberfest 3 times and have wanted to check out Oide Wiesn the last couple of times but it seems like I never quite make it. Once you find a good spot it's hard to give it up, especially if Augustinerbräu is being served. I've also never strolled down the east promenade with all the rides and attractions. So much Wiesn, so little time! We plan to go back in 2020 or 2021.

All of the clips in this video were filmed on weekdays (monday-weds). Definitely the best beer at Oktoberfest and in Munich! Even outside of The Wiesn, we love going to the Ausgustiner beer garden on the North side of the train station.
Your lucky if you get 2 beers at Oktoberfest. However, 2 beers at Oktoberfest is equal to a 6 pack and at 6 percent alcohol which is pretty high for beer. So its more like 8 beers. But its about much more than beer. Its apparently a life changing experience w ppl all over the world. I hear the feeling is beautiful and something unexplainable.
Good to point out that the beers are larger and stronger than people are usually used to. Important to pace, but 2 beers would still be on the lower side if you are there all day
Not sure what you mean, Hofbrau has the highest % of tourists of any of the tents. As far as english being spoken, most people in all of the tents speak english since most Germans/Bavarians are bilingual (or at least close to competent), but basic German is still important since you're in Germany. With the music, yep you are correct but after 6pm around 40-50% of the songs in all of the tents are in english and the rest in German plus some in Spanish and Italian. If I flew all the way to Germany just to hear a band play horrible cover songs like Sweet Child of Mine, I would be SO disappointed!

Everything sounds pretty much the same after you had about three or four of those steins…. Seriously get over yourself.
See You in Octoberfest 2021! Stay safe everyone, keep wearing your face
masks, wash your hands frequently and stay apart to stop the spread of
Covid-19. Take care!
