The best farming channel, this is where it kicked off, this video, and the Deere Combine would not take being broken or direction.. even from Dougo who is the master operator of machinery and now a farmers almanac of anecdotes and all them things you know if you know ! Chet. Your a masterclass, you really are . Larson Farms . Keep it clean and keep growing.
It's amazing, I am subscribed to a couple of AG youtubers, and complaining about things breaking down/going wrong seems to be a theme. It's not that maintenance hasn't been done, it's not old crappy equipment, it's that farming is just one of the absolute hardest things to do. You guys work harder than any other profession I know and 95% of us wouldn't last a month doing what you guys do day after day. Even the good days are long and hard. My hats off to you all!
we had the same problem with a Claas Lexion. The Heui pump failed and the engine stopped. As mentioned below, we put some hydraulic hoses to the steering cylinders and turned the wheels with a hydraulic valve of the tractor. It worked very well. No damages, and after changing the Heui pump the Lexion ran again. Greetings from Germany
In theory the steering hand pump is supposed to provide some emergency steering. It never works as well as you need it to, I also use the hose between the steering cylinder and remotes to a tow tractor when towing dead tractors.
Although the situation certainly isn't funny from a practical farming aspect,I haven't laughed this hard in weeks - great content keep the videos coming .
What you do to tow a combine backwards is get some appropriate hydraulic hoses and plumb the combine steering cylinder to a pair of remote had outlets on the towing tractor and steer the combine from the tractor seat.
You should’ve unhooked the The hydraulic lines at the cylinder made lines to the back of the tractor to steer the combine and use the Hydraulics on the tractor
When my 9500 blew the hydraulic system. I just tapped into the power leads going to steering motor. lock 1 scv in power and steer combine through hydraulic system of pull tractor through steering wheel on combine. 25 ft hoses off of grain wagon auger and 2 adapter hoses to adapt to the combine plumbing.
I saw this video last fall. I learned a trick since then. If you rig up some hoses and attach them to the steering cylinder and then plug them into a tractor remote you can steer the combine with the tractor remote.
I no it’s not funny when you have breakdowns , but this video was funny ! You tried to tell him you couldn’t steer the Combine , but sometimes you have to do what you have to do to get something done . Great video , beautiful farm , keep up with the great videos . May god bless you all !
Oh man I just watched this one a third time just to hear Chet describe DougO has going “All Monkey Man”. Oh man. This vid should have won some kind of end of year reward.
I've have moved a john deere combine with blown up motor off a hill top with a international 1086 with a fabricated extra lift for trusses or picking things with 3 point hitch and picked back end off the ground and dragged it 15 miles back to farm
As a farmer you should know that if you can’t steer lift the back end up with a tractor and get it on a trailer that way I’ve done it like that many times and it works
Two years ago I saw a funny picture. Thought that crazy guy wants to tow the combine with his bobcat. Then I realized he tapped into the drive motor and steering and was a very patient guy.
That is what farming is like...don't think I'd tapped tractors hydraulics into the combines hydraulics ( different oil and possibly metal filings in combines hydraulics would flow to tractors ) some weeks are just one problem to the next ...be safe
I must say the more I watch your videos. The more I enjoy them. Have not watched very long. Chet I enjoy your relationship with your Dad and your whole family and friends. Keep it up Great job!! Hope Nicole is doing well
Your not the only one bad things happen to when farming. It happens to me all the time. Whether it was our family farms or when l was working for someone else.
Started watching you guys just now, and i needed to see this episode... by far one of the funniest in farming x-D Even tho it still sucks it broke down..
for next time unhook the hydraulic cylinder from the combine hydraulics and make up a couple lines and run them to the your pull tractors hydraulics, then you can steer it from your 3rd fuction controls
The engine in our Combine went, it was sitting half mile into the home field for 3 weeks till we got it rebuilt, we had to hire 2 tow trucks to lift the engine off, platform is 10ft off the ground, got it back just in time for the snow to come, rest of crops will have to wait till next spring.
@@BWYinYang yea Dad made a Hand Shake deal with some private guys to fix the engine, we had it off and dilivered in 2 days and the hand shake deal was they would start on it the next day, We told Dad that old fashion ways no longer work and he's gonna screw us. 2 weeks later the guy came back from holidays and started working on our engine, never told us he was going on holidays first, right during harvest.
@@alancooper5386 Uncle had a combine since new and need replacing every year using re-manufactured engine from dealer for the last few years then finally upgraded the combine. Most down time 3-5 days, couple times in middle of field.
I’m sorry if some people may find that a little harsh but common. He was pulling that whole column straight sideways! You start if your going to start given er for all your worth chances are shit is going to start breaking 🤷🏻♂️
Chet, those john deere combines seem to break a lot? And I'm seeing zero abuse (well, practicaly zero!) of machines here! Are the john tractors the same? Respect to you ♥
Out There Nth Wst. IE. most of the new equipment ain’t made like it used to be I worked with my dad who farmed and we bought a 8360r and it didn’t even make it home the o ring went bad, and we had a new holland that the transmission went bad before it got 50 hours like new shit ain’t worth buying
@@xade7863 Yea that seems to be the way these huge companies work now. Make to Break! damn man that was funny.... I'm still chuckling. I was expecting him to kick out some windows or something. I know I would have went apes*** if I broke that off
One of the interesting parts of this is... As the steering wheel breaks... You can hear the snap on the camera... Makes me really wonder how loud it was at the point of snapping INSIDE the combine as it travels through air and 2 cabs and even gets caught on a not so sensitive microphone...
Hydraulic steering sucks when there's no hydraulics. Forks lifts are set up the same way for their steering. Liked the ingenuity on loading the combine. Can't steer the combine, move the trailer. Winch quits, pull it another way.
When I need a laugh I come back to watch Dougo break the Wheel. Never gets old.

I come back to this video when I need a smile. Your laugh is contagious Chet, and Dougo reminds me of my grandfather. Good stuff.
So, farmers are vehicle mechanics that happen to plant corn every now and then?
yeah seems like and i'm sure they're decently good at both

I am sorry, but I had to laugh when Dougo broke the steering wheel. Then when you showed how he broke it out of the floor I could not believe it.
Almost anything can be broken with enough brute force and ignorance.
Your Minnesota accent makes these things 100 times funnier. I almost pissed myself watching you laugh at Dougo.
Dougo looked like was having a fight to the death with an unknown assailant in the cab of the combine.

We hooked the hydraulics from the steer cylinder on our combine to an outlet on a smaller tractor and steered the combine with the tractors hydraulics
A legend was born in this video
Normally you should remove the hoses from the steering cylinder and hook it up to long hoses that are connected to the tractors SCV.
I was chuckling that he was trying to manhandle it given that being a hydro it's accomplishing nothing.
In theory the steering hand pump is supposed to provide some emergency steering. It never works as well as you need it to, I also use the hose between the steering cylinder and remotes to a tow tractor when towing dead tractors.

What happened to the deere.

The most Minnesota I've heard in a long time! My is from born and raised Minnesota and slowly lost her accent after 12 years down in Missouri.
After watching about 8 videos, this may be my new favorite channel lol
A big hello from a small town Thurles in Ireland 🇮🇪
it amazing how much better quality his vids have gotten
That steering wheel gave me the biggest chuckle of the day. Methinks its broken fellas!!
Unhook the hoses from the cylinder, run a set of lines to the tractor pulling it, use tractor hydrulics to steer
Dougo reminds me of my Dad. He would of done the exact same thing! He was so strong!
he reminds me of john krasinski/jim from the office

John Deere guys run hydraulic hoses from the Tractor to the combine for Steering. Works great you should try it next time.
"Sorry for laughing so much"? Bubba, I'm STILL laughing nonstop. Like, tears streaming down my face laughing! Absolutely friggin' HILARIOUS.

I've seen this video i think 3 times. I laugh just as hard as the first time. Oh Dougo.
You canwatch this video over and over again and it won’t get less hilarious.😂😂
doulbe chains help keep it going strait... pull only from left or right to move it a little at time.. its slow but works.
My John Deere X-534 garden tractor has hydraulic power steering, when the engine isn't running you can't steer it either. The same as your combine.
I question how they thought him turning the wheel was gonna work when rhe steering wheel is hydrolic and the pumps off
My thoughts exactly why would they not trailers right from the get-go
I don't know, steering still works in cars when the power steering goes out. Same concept. But way too much weight to move. You have been educated.

Good video, would of been gold if you had a camera in the combine when dougo broke the column
Holly Crap that was funny Dougo rip the steering wheel wow way to go . Did you finally get the combine loaded .
If you run the hydraulics from the tractor to the rear axle it should work we had the hydro blow on one of our gleaners and that’s what we had to do
Tough 2019 harvest. Keep up the good work
Can you go to Larson farms
i have no idea why i got reccomended this but im not complaining
If you go to DEBOSS GARAGE's RUclips he moved a combine by using the auxiliary hydraulics on a tractor to turn the wheels

pull injectors out use starter as if to start andd tou will feel the steering hydraulics will work enough to steer easy

I know Dougo hated that happening to him. I would have too. But I had such a good laugh! And I'm sorry.
