Also. Casper is actually from Budapest Hungary.
They may have been called German Workers but actually only Kai & Werner were from Germany. 2 of the guys were from Switzerland & 2 were from Austria.
I just picked up on that detail upon rewatching that scene in the desert of Mike sending them home & giving them their flight instructions.
He mentions Berlin, Vienna, Zurich & Budapest.
While 3 of those countries may have German as their native language, there's still some dialect variety.
I love this small detail because it is so in character for Gus to being overly paranoid & cautious by picking construction workers from 4 adjouning countries, just to be absolutely safe & not raising any suspicion.

Casper was an excellent judge of character and probably the most sensible, brave, intelligent and prudent member of Werner’s crew he correctly assumed that Lalo was bad news and discreetly tried to arm himself and smartly ran before Lalo got the chance to react first, sadly he got to careless and gave Lalo a chance to regain the upper hand
Plus, he did see him; that one time Gus and Mike staged Lalo's visit to the construction site. To try and justify al that "south wall" stuff.
Only plot armor saved Lalo.
When Lalo said "I'm not here for you" should have been a red flag as a lie already. Lalo was literally hunting him down with gun in hand.
Nah it was not carelessness, it was pure plot armor, lało wouldve been in much greater pain than him, it was a flesh wound but the show needed him to lose to continue so he reacted to it like if he was shot multiple times lmao
@@grzexd it still hurt and surprised him, which was enough time for lalo to grab the axe, besides it's really hard to tell exactly what the injury was. And he may have low pain tolerance. Of course this is just a show but the way he reacted is not unrealistic

I love how Lalo says "I think you broke one of my ribs!" Like the way he's saying it, he sounds scared and hurt, but he's the one completely in control at this point, it's awesome
I get the sense he's not really been hurt badly before, or at least not for a long time. To break a bone is shocking and he's having to remember what an injury feels like and how to deal with it

For someone portrayed as intelligent and manipulative, Lalo was down right stupid for chasing a man armed with an axe into a dimly lit workshop whose layout he didn't know. Case and point, if Casper had been less humane, more realistic and flipped that axe before swinging it Lalo would be on the floor bleeding out in a few minutes.

I think Lalo knew that Casper wouldn't go all the way unless he accidentally swung too hard which was also unlikely given his experience.
It wasn't humane. Casper didn't go for the kill because he had questions too.

Casper could've demolished Lalo, but plot armor saved him.
Lalo’s actor absorbs psychopathy so well, it’s insane. Lalo paces through the forest at such a gentle but brisk pace - because if you’re going to chase a guy, why not just be as efficient as possible? Conserve speed and don’t trip.
And then the shed scene. The way Lalo enters with NO fear. Doesn’t even look back. It’s almost like he doesn’t even believe that his life could be on the line because he’s so mentally prepared to get the upper hand; there are 0 negative consequences in his mind. And yeah, of course he got attacked, because his psychopathy isn’t always smart. But also, yeah, of course he got the upper hand again, because he understands how to manipulate people to get the upper hand.

Kinda crazy when you consider how far and wide Lalo travelled just for information. Basically the other side of the world, far from Gus' reach. And then he ultimately comes back to his death.

What I love about Lalo is how unpredictable he is, much like Tuco, and that's what makes Salamanca family such a scary villains. For a long time the tension builds and the feeling that Lalo is somewhere around, but we're not sure what he's up to. The last thing I expected at the time was that he would be able to go to Germany to gather information and then hit Gus. Honestly, I think Gustavo got pretty lucky with Lalo

I find it sad to think that Casper was most likely tortured to death after this scene given how Lalo later says he put up a hell of a fight before he told him or something along those lines.

The fact Casper somehow out stealth lalo like WOW! I thought lalo would find him easily when I first watched this the first time but when I see him taking the axe I was like wow Casper out stealth him that’s crazy and even crazier that he could’ve killed him but instead decides to be stupid and give lalo the time he needs for an opening. It all could’ve been handled and Gus would’ve never have to worried cause I’m sure he would’ve find out somehow.

What makes this extra sad is that Casper probably would have willingly told Lalo what he knew if he wasn’t acting so shady. Casper also HATES Gus for what he did to Werner, and when Lalo was on the floor, had he just explained his goal for revenge I think Casper might have helped
Highly unlikely. While Casper doesn't like Gus, he and the other engineers are also justifiably scared of his power and influence, especially after Werner's Death.

Under no circumstances would lalo be capable of talking within the next 2 hours after getting sledged to the gut.
Upon rewatching the scene of the german workers & Mike in the desert getting sent home, I paid closer attention & realized that Casper was flying to Budapest/Hungary.
2 guys were flying to Zurich/Switzerland. 2 guys were flying to Vienna/Austria.
And Kai was flying to Berlin.
Which means that only Werner & Kai were actually from Germany.
Yes while Swiss people & Austrians also speak german, it's still a different country.
Which is a great little detail, which again fits Gus's character of being extremely cautious.
To minimize the risk of somebody talking, he got 7 people from 4 different countries.
Plus, Casper clearly isn't a native German speaker, since I can tell from his articulation & phrasing of sentences. His actor is actually a native Croatian.
I don't think it's too unrealistic for the builders to fly to/from nearby countries then drive the way home. It was already shown that they had done the same with airports in multiple nearby US states. Also, Casper would have called out to Lalo in Hungarian if he was still in Hungary, not in German
