@@felltrain115yes3 you only have to replace your gpu every 2 years if you plan to be 4K max settings in every game you play. Otherwise let’s say someone has a 7800x3d with a 4070 TI super or higher you’re good for the next 7 years and maybe more. It always depends on your current budget and if your a max res max settings kinda guy or not. But no, you don’t have to switch gpu every two years, this is Nvidia FOMO marketing brainwash right there.
I'm running a 7600 CPU and a 6950 xt card (same brand you showed too) and it runs very nice. Getting good FPS (60+) in Starfield on max settings and has reached like 70 c on the high end of temps.
Of course it's working well, no one is saying it isn't working well, the whole point here is if you want more fps, then go for the 7900xt and reduce the price of the cpu budget.
It highly depends on what game you play and at which resolution. If you play CPU heavy games or a lower resolution, then the CPU might be the bottleneck and if you play on a higher resolution or a game with a lower CPU usage, then the better GPU is more important. In my case for example a better CPU is more important since i like to play StarCitizen (a very CPU demanding game). Just look at the games you usually play and at your future upgrading wishes since upgrading a CPU might look cheaper at first but can be significantly more expencive since a new Motherboard and maybe even new RAM (depending on your Hardware) might has to be concidered.
I actually saw someone the other day breaking down how GPU utilization in a lot of new games being only utilized at about 75-85% and the cpu is doing a lot of work nowadays. Don’t skimp on the CPU for gaming, if you can grab the highest tier option, get it.
It also depends on the types of games. Like if he's looking to focus on esports titles but also play triple a games on the side, the first combo will perform better in Val, CS, League, etc.
I play star citizen and i feel like the 78003D really makes a difference as it is heavy on the cpu . But the 7800xt or 6800xt is fine for all games out atm
Games: now you need more gpu Also people designing laptop: IT MUST BE THIN! and also because its so thin we have to use integrated gpu but thats totally ok because our stupid customers will buy it anyways
Planning to buy 7800xt for my 5800x3d, as its best I can buy cheap here.. better ones cost my whole salary so Im good with spending less then half and buy better in future
Or for me I just jumped the GPU up and got a 7900 XTX with the 7800x3d , took me about 6 months of saving 75% of my salary plus more to buy the entire computer plus setup but it will be worth it once I come home and can just play games until I faint
I do actually have this combo: 7800XT+7800X3D+64GB ram 4TB system ssd and lot of storage. I don't only use the PC for gaming. Just 2 days ago I ran out of CPU and RAM while testing grass movement and terrain generation on big scale, and it got loos too fast. Also ran out a few months ago testing an idea for work on a k8s vcluster on my pc (after that I took out an old xeon server (I got for cheap) from storage cabinet and used that ). I don't play AAA, usually more like indie or nostalgic ones. I can extend my ram to 128, but I only do that when I realy need, as I don't have ram active cooler, and even on lower speeds, it gets pretty toasty with 4 sticks stuck together, even if it is only running on a looser timing and on 4800 instead of 5600. I prioratized strong cpu, lot of ram, short gpu, and the naming was nice with both being 7800, hell why not. (I knew what I was doing )
It really depends on your workload If it's a CPU intensive workload (compiling, certain games) you should get the first one If it's a GPU intensive workload (most games) you should get the second one
It depends on the games you play. If you play val , csgo or anything cpu reliant, then you’re better off with a mid range gpu and the best available cpu. Maybe later on you could just get a better gpu in a few years
Paired the 7800x3d with a 7900GRE and it’s awesome. Thought about the 7900xt but wasnt worth the extra $200 for me. Got the x3d as part of a bundle that made it way cheaper than it should have been.
This is a good investment if you do a lot of emulation (mainly PS3/Xbox 360 which are cpu intensive to emulate) or if you're playing games that are abhorrently cpu bound like Star Citizen. It's an edge case and honestly I'd prioritize the GPU first, but it all depends on your personal needs really. and that video card certainly isn't bad, if you have issues with it you could drop to 1080p and still get a good experience
Agree, im in the same boat. Tho in my case, as I play mostly flightsim and racingsims, which befit a lot from extra 3D cache, i’ll prob settle for a slightly lesser gpu. These game just live and die on good CPU’s. 😊
I new to these PC gaming and builds and only been doing my research to build my first PC, but isn’t it better to still get a very high end CPU just because upgrading a GPU would be way faster and easier than almost taking apart the whole system just to upgrade the CPU, so personally I would rather get the best CPU I can get and upgrade GPU later my Amazon cart ryzen7 9800x3D, 7900XTX, 2TB, 2x16GB RAM, with the monthec king 95 pro case, cpu cooler from monthec as well 360mm get me around $2500
I went to Micro Center and got my 7800x3D for $197.12 with a motherboard combo deal the MSI B650 MAG Tomahawk WiFi for $199.99. Then I got the ASUS Radeon RX 7900 GRE for $599.99 and G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB Series 32GB for $117.99. I got other stuff, but my combos worked for me and I got 24 months 0%. Love it!
I went with the 7800xt and the r7 7700x, partly down to sales at the time but also the upgrade path is very simple, only need to do one or two parts over the next few years when i can warrant new parts
I had that same combo for a bit and upgraded to the xtx I was happier getting the 7800x3d because I had confidence in not needing to upgrade it for a while I couldn't afford a 7900 xtx when I 1st built my PC and now my old 7800xt is in a friend's PC so I think I've still gotten really good value from it
depends at which resolution he is gonna play too. Probably for 1080p competitive his combo is better but for 1440p ''normal'' then your combo is better
I's say it depends on the game the person is playing and also on the OS they're using cause sure the 7800 XT could do some 4K gaming in Windows but if the person is using something like ChimeraOS or Bazzite most of their games can be played at 4K without any issues and without using any upscales.
I’m looking to build my first PC. I have had PCs before and I’ve built a friend’s PC for him, but never one for myself. I’m shooting for the stars and hoping I’m able to secure a $2500 ish budget (maybe a little more) and I was wondering if a 7800X3D and 4080 Super is a good combo
We have no idea how the 4080 super will perform as it is not out yet, but the 7900XTX will most likely beat it, the 4080 also only has 16Gbs of vram, which based on the recent UE5 specs, will be a huge limitation soon in the future on a card that high-end.
@@Frashsibit Thank you for that, but I play mostly Fortnite so I would love DLSS, and I will start streaming soon, so I was only really considering Nvidia. They also have many features that I would like to try out. I may look for AMD in the future, but Nvidia is the only brand I have worked with in the past, and my current build has an Nvidia card, so I would like my first build to have one as well.
Best short yet. Bottlenecking is an issue to an extent but by using a mid card you are bottlenecking yourself on purpose. I still use a 7600x with a 6950xt and it will carry me over the AM5 chipset just fine but if I absolutely wanted to waste money upgrading my card I could while still using the 7600x
I would totally agree with your assessment but in my case I use my computer for a lot more than just gaming. I'm putting together a system that can do a combination of everything. Ryzen 9 7800x3d and Radeon 7700XT. Perfect for Flight Sim and older games and everyday tasks I use. Don't care about ray tracing or upscaling too much. I actually like my graphics a little old school that leaves something to the imagination. Lol.
I have that combo planning on upgrading my gpu when the next gen comes out but its a absolute beast i get 200 fps 1440p ultra settings in most games some games way more
Depends on what resolution you play at. At 1080p CPU is most important at 1440p the GPU is most important basically having a faster CPU will not give you any big gains in 1440p. I got the 7800x3d and 7900xtx for 1440p.
Nah, right now x3D cache is something that boost your fps, even your 1% low are boosted. In CPU games such as cs2 and Fortnite 3d cache technology is a must have.
Upscaling basically makes it like running 1080P up to 1440p so a better CPU is worth it IMO. Everyone that is looking to buy a new GPU should really wait for the 8800XT finger crossed it’s no more than 600$
Zach is right, but for some people if this was a starting PC build than it may be good. This is because the GPU is much easier to upgrade and install then a new cpu later down the line
I went with a slightly better gpu (4070 super) with the 7800x3d. I like this combo a lot but I'm sure a 7600X would be just as nice. The x3d was only $100 more at the time so why not haha.
Agreed boss! But for ex. if you wanna play Escape from Tarkov in 1080 or 1440 at HIGH u need more the 7800x3D than the 7800XT. I wanna buy this combo for EFT compatibility, that’s why I think in this situation is better from the 7600 and 7900xt😅 What do u think about it???
I personally went for the 7700x and the 7900xtx as I was prioritizing the gpu (most pricey part) so I could at a later moment outright purchase a 7800X3D later on.
the 7800xt does not feel like just a midrange card when everything is maxed and smooth as glass @ 1440p. i play singleplayer games @ 4k too, just not competitive ones. 7800xt is more than enough
Hi I was wondering if the Ryzen 7 5800 and the RTX 3060 is a good combination on a pc I’m looking to buy let me know. And I love your content keep it up🙂
Depends on what games you play . If you play well optimised games like cod, apex, fortnite then 3d vcache will be useless But if you play games such as squad, tarkov , star citizen or any early access game that does not run well optimised then 3d vcache will perform much better than a 7900xt over a 7800xt This is my personal experience with 3d vcache vs non 3d vcache
8800xt for 1080p max textures and path tracing? Or 5090 with same setting. Just curious how much fps would you even get from spending an oblivious amount
Which cpu should I pair with RTX 4060 for a $800 - $850. Actually I want that extra Ray tracing and dlss features, for tat reason only 4060 is my choice.
Me who plays arma. The one of the few that actually relies on a good CPU to run smoothly as graphics isn't necessarily the most intense part of the game. A 14900ks and 4090 struggles at hitting above 120fps at 4k highest settings. I don't think I've ever seen anyone achieve higher than 200fps at any reasonable resolution
I have the EXACT 7900xt paired with a 7600x, definitely a killer setup. Usually around 120 FPS on ultra+ 1440p on halo infinite, and 7 days to die. And when I play minecraft (bedrock) with ray tracing and all the graphics turned up and it pulls around 75 fps
Nothing wrong with the combo, I'd go with the 7800X3D with that budget, so you know there is always an easy future upgrade with the GPU possible. But I'd advise to spend just a little more and go with a 7900 GRE
I got a 7800x3d and 4070ti super combo. But I bough better cpu to have better future proofing. As I would like to update only GPUs for next years to come. Next upgrade is in january for 5080 and then time will tell after :)

In bottleneck calculator it shows that 7800x3d+7800xt is a perfect match with zero bottleneck for gaming but the 7600x+7900xt has a 8% cpu bottleneck in gpu heavy tasks. It seems to me that the first combo is a better choice, also because in few years I might want to upgrade the 7800xt and so it makes sense to me to choose the best possible CPU at the moment.
cpu can be upgradable to. Over 1-3 years you can get more performance out of it, then choose for the 7800x3d. Doesnt make sense to go for the 7800x3d actually. Still options are open like Zen5 or Zen 6.. Zen 4 isnt a really big difference over Zen 3.
I run the 7800xt and 3D and it's amazing. I honestly don't understand how much more fps yall need when ur alrdy getting literal hundreds and most of yall got 144hz 1080p/1440p monitors still at best. Only big ballers are rocking quality 165 or 240hz so that extra fps is mostly wasted in most titles where high high fps matters
165hz isn’t big baller for 1440p. But I do agree I cap my fps at 120 when playing story driven single player games and multiplayer games mostly never go under 140 fps anyways
@ChopPvP when monitors start becoming more expensive than a gpu to power it, it's big baller. Those monitors at 165 and 240hz 1440p start at like 350 cheap, and can easily spend 1k
Just get the best you think you should afford and if its a little above the current budget add some more money never go below or you'll be pissed at yourself for saving a few dollars for drinks and losing out or being forced to upgrade sooner.

Gpu will be replaced every 2 years or so while that cpu will last you for at least 4 years
@@felltrain115yes3 you only have to replace your gpu every 2 years if you plan to be 4K max settings in every game you play.
CPU is harder to replace in the long run compared to upgrading gpus@@Diversified_amogus
i have a 7600 and a 7800xt since this is my first pc and they perform really well together :D
That’s the sweet spot. Great choice!
I'm running a 7600 CPU and a 6950 xt card (same brand you showed too) and it runs very nice. Getting good FPS (60+) in Starfield on max settings and has reached like 70 c on the high end of temps.
I have 7800xt and r7 7800x3d combo and its been working great for me
Of course it's working well, no one is saying it isn't working well, the whole point here is if you want more fps, then go for the 7900xt and reduce the price of the cpu budget.
Same combo here to. I’m very happy
Same here

Oof that's a relief, I thought I fucked up lol, I bought this exact combo...
I’m in this exact situation and I think it’s a perfect combo, at least in my opinion
I actually saw someone the other day breaking down how GPU utilization in a lot of new games being only utilized at about 75-85% and the cpu is doing a lot of work nowadays. Don’t skimp on the CPU for gaming, if you can grab the highest tier option, get it.
I remember when 80 class cards were considered enthusiast grade and the 60 class cards were the mid range cards
They still kinda are tho?
Initial combo can help with futureproofing
By eventually selling the GPU and getting a better one to increase CPU usage

Nah, the 7800x3d will bottleneck. GT 710 won't be going above 1% usage given the beast it is
It also depends on the types of games. Like if he's looking to focus on esports titles but also play triple a games on the side, the first combo will perform better in Val, CS, League, etc.
What monitor would you recommend that is 1440p, 144hz for around $150 - $250?
Specifically for playing mid end games and video editing
I got the Acer Nitro 31.5' 1440p 165hz for $170 at Costco with holiday savings. I think it's about $200 right now.
Well this isn’t 144hz but rather 165, however I would reccomend the Acer Nitro XZ2
dell s3422dwg, 21:9 1440p and 144hz, they are often on discount got mine for around 400$ canadian
I play star citizen and i feel like the 78003D really makes a difference as it is heavy on the cpu .
But the 7800xt or 6800xt is fine for all games out atm

Also people designing laptop: IT MUST BE THIN! and also because its so thin we have to use integrated gpu but thats totally ok because our stupid customers will buy it anyways

It's also easier to upgrade a GPU and resell it than to upgrade a CPU, when I built I built with the future in mind
They are the same level of difficulty. Just more chance for something to happen to a cpu.
(I knew what I was doing )
amd ryzen 5 3600 and GTX 550 😎

It really depends on your workload
If it's a CPU intensive workload (compiling, certain games) you should get the first one
If it's a GPU intensive workload (most games) you should get the second one
I had that same combo for a bit and upgraded to the xtx I was happier getting the 7800x3d because I had confidence in not needing to upgrade it for a while I couldn't afford a 7900 xtx when I 1st built my PC and now my old 7800xt is in a friend's PC so I think I've still gotten really good value from it
i got a ryzen 7 7700x ($200) and a RX 7900XT (650) ultra for my first pc, all my components should arrive next week.
depends at which resolution he is gonna play too. Probably for 1080p competitive his combo is better but for 1440p ''normal'' then your combo is better
seeing this short made me really content with my build choices since i'm building w/ a 7800 x3d and a 7900 xt
Got the x3d and 7900xt it's been great
I's say it depends on the game the person is playing and also on the OS they're using cause sure the 7800 XT could do some 4K gaming in Windows but if the person is using something like ChimeraOS or Bazzite most of their games can be played at 4K without any issues and without using any upscales.
I7 1st gen mobile type and a 4090 is a juicy combo very hot too
I did that exact combo, it’s incredible!
i’m currently using 7800xt and 7800x3d since i play cpu intensive games it makes more sense.
Lol.
I have that combo planning on upgrading my gpu when the next gen comes out but its a absolute beast i get 200 fps 1440p ultra settings in most games some games way more
I reccomend i5-13600K with used RTX 3080 or a RTX 4070
7800x3d with 6950xt is what ive got. Got cyber monday deals, and plenty of upgrade room.
You should do another $1000 builds with the new components that have come out
I’d personally do a 7900XT and a 7700 or 7700x. If you play your cards right you can get it around $900
Went with a 7500F and 7900XTX cuz I needed the Nitro+ bling. Loving it
I'm selecting parts for my first PC, I'm going with a 7 7800 X3D and a 7900 XTX
Upscaling basically makes it like running 1080P up to 1440p so a better CPU is worth it IMO. Everyone that is looking to buy a new GPU should really wait for the 8800XT finger crossed it’s no more than 600$
I just bought the 7800X3D switched from intel to AMD can’t wait to try it out my I9 didn’t want to live past 5 months of light use
I wanna buy this combo for EFT compatibility, that’s why I think in this situation is better from the 7600 and 7900xt😅 What do u think about it???
can you make the best 1000-1100$ build with an RTX GPU? (aesthetics not important, preferrebly all black)
I personally went for the 7700x and the 7900xtx as I was prioritizing the gpu (most pricey part) so I could at a later moment outright purchase a 7800X3D later on.
I have that combo. im waiting for the 50 series to drop, then i can get a 40 series cheaper
the 7800xt does not feel like just a midrange card when everything is maxed and smooth as glass @ 1440p. i play singleplayer games @ 4k too, just not competitive ones.

But if you play games such as squad, tarkov , star citizen or any early access game that does not run well optimised then 3d vcache will perform much better than a 7900xt over a 7800xt
This is my personal experience with 3d vcache vs non 3d vcache

Is 12400f + 4060 not a better combo

Bottleneck calculators are notoriously inaccurate and are quite frankly shit.
cpu can be upgradable to. Over 1-3 years you can get more performance out of it, then choose for the 7800x3d.
Doesnt make sense to go for the 7800x3d actually.

Bro we gonna start seeing our games in slow mo if these fps get any higher 😂
Just get the best you think you should afford and if its a little above the current budget add some more money never go below or you'll be pissed at yourself for saving a few dollars for drinks and losing out or being forced to upgrade sooner.
