I love Mark and I feel it has to be said he was only a teenager here and when he first came to my attention. He won Australia's Got Talent at the age of 15 and has only gotten better as time has gone on. I have had the pleasure and joy of seeing him live twice. I was also front row both times and I wish I able to describe the beauty and power of his voice but words fail me. My late husband introduced me to Mark back in 2009 and I can't say he or I were fans of opera but I am a huge fan now due to this young gentleman. All that being said, this was never my favourite song of his and I believe his operatic endeavours are truly his best work along with his original song This is Not the End which he did for Eurovision. I think watching his audition and other performances from AGT may give his background more illumination and appreciation for this amazing talent. Thank you so much for your reaction. PS during the last few years of lockdowns he would get on FB live daily and sing for everyone to try and lift spirits. I loved it too Lyle. Marks tone is beautiful....It's isn't sung as a 'pop' song it's definitely sung with just the right amount of emotion ....It gave me chills in some parts. ...
While I agree his voice is very smooth with a nice timbre, he really needs to acquaint himself with the use of dynamics. I'm afraid for me his limited interpretation and range got humdrum less than halfway through.

You are so right that it wasn't done as a pop song and I thought it brought out a different side to the lyrics then the original. 😊
