It makes perfect sense that the two most fun bands in metal would make the most fun metal song of the year. I got to see them perform it live together for the first time ever at FOX_FEST in May and it was a certified banger live. They all looked like they were having such a good time on stage together. Babymetal's manager Kobametal has known about Electric Callboy for a long time. Su-metal mentioned in a recent interview that they were an influence on the creation of "Iine" years ago.
Nice reaction! I´m still puzzled why not ONE reactor noticed the differences in the two "Are you ready??" growls without being pointed out to it🤣 The second "Are you ready??" was done by Momometal, she showed her "fangs" once again 😁 Most likely she was mixed into the "Let´s go!!", too, as well as she did the two "Everybody!!" with a bit of Kevin in the background. Besides that, simply one of the greatest, most fun collaborations ever, I love it!

Welcome back to the Foxhole.🦊🤘🔥 I remember your previous fancam of this live at Rock Am Ring iirc Glad you got this finally unblocked and btw Happy birthday to MoaMetal.🥳🎂🎁❤️ This single reached Number 1 best selling single in the US Billboard rock/metal chart for the first time for both bands! If you see comments talking about how cool was one of the singers turning around at the end, that's a reference to a video reaction they did last week. But the one who really looks cool are oc the ladies striking a pose near the end which is also the pose they used when performing live right from the beginning.💃 Last weekend of May they played this song at FOX_FEST Festival in Japan along with Electric Callboy, everyone went bonkers with this awesome collab of the year and hit of this summer. They also released the official live if you don't wanna stop and keep pushing it to the limit. They also played together once again at Rock Im Park in Germany twice, one during EC show and the other one during BM show wearing cool new outfits. After that they played again at Rock Am Ring (you witnessed that moment) and we already got cool proshot clips. Last weekend they finished the Europe Tour and once again with both groups playing this song twice at Resurrection Fest in Spain making everyone going wild. Polyphia were also at FOX_FEST playing a set and the guitarists Tim Henson and Scott Le Page played together with BM the song Brand New Day, they're special guest in the album version, they were looking for this since a very long time ago and also fans waited for this. We already got an official live MV released recently if you wanna check that out. The "hips don't lie" is definitely a Shakira reference. The "Fu Fu" part sounds like Backstreet Boys - Everybody (from 1997) female backing chorus but it's probably used way back before in more songs. Even Morning Musume (Jpop idol group) used this in Love Machine (1999) which btw MoaMetal did a cover at Legend 1999 (2013), and according to Japanese fans it's also very common chorus when singing karaoke. The "push it to the limit" line it could be an homage to Scarface's movie, another post disco, dance rock song with some guitar elements. The bursting the wall scene is clearly an homage to Aerosmith x Run DMC - Walk This Way MV, symbolism of breaking the boundaries with the music genres. Also one of the singers is holding up the cable with electricity during the breakdown it could be a reference to "The Cable Guy" movie. Btw when I saw the MV the first time i thought the second "Are you ready?" chorus was MomoMetal doing the backing growling but they didn't show that in the MV, although later fans spotted in the live version she was doing the backing growlings, so it was her after all. Love the euro dance and trance elements mixed with metal, they also did it with Time Wave, one of my favorite BM song from latest album The Other One, but if you're looking for "dance metal" then even BM did it way back in 2019 with the song DA DA DANCE part of the Metal Galaxy album. There are probably more references but I'm a little bit far away from pop culture nowadays that I'm probably missing a lot more. Another more recent fun fact: BM said in a interview that they got this song and felt they needed to ask EC to collaborate with them because it wasn't complete without them, they were looking for a danceable song in the vibes of "We Got The Moves". It is known BM composers and producer love to make tributes and make songs with certain influence on another bands, they did it a lot of times before, one of the most known was with DragonForce doing the guitar arrangements for Road Of Resistance album version, this time EC got more involved in the whole song and that's why they got another 50% of collab credits, so it was a BM initiative. Next suggestion to enjoy another super collab they did prior to this if you didn't already: - F.Hero x Bodyslam x BabyMetal - Leave It All Behind official MV. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and analysis on this amazing collab. See you next time 🦊🤘🐭
All three of the Babymetal ladies are trained actresses. Su entered Actors School Hiroshima at the age of 8 and was a model, an actress in musicals and acted in many video productions as part of the idol group Sakura Gakuin. Moa and Momoko were also in Sakura Gakuin and Momoko in particular has been in commercials, musicals and movies.
Well they were foundef in 2010, the same as Electric Callboy. And we knew in both Concerzs they played it in noth Setlists, with all 5 vocalists. And i always wonder why the japanese actor looks like a much younger Koba. And according to Electric Callboy this movie was cheap. When they broke one wall this wall had to be used. And they met in the US. To be precisely in Boston. Well in fact the feature was planned for both Bands, but especially Kevin had his problen. But nowadays they both make fun about it. Babymetal had complete sounds in English: the One, Elecator girl. And they put a lot of english sentences in their song. I believe they want to protect themselves from too many bad japanese in their shows. And the Outfit of Babymetal was simply their uniform in the time from April 2023 to FoxFest, then thry changed parts of the uniform as usual. Tbey wear them all the time, in every Show and every Interview. In fact it is designed this way. If you see the girls outside if their uniforms you don"t recognize them.
No according to Koba he watched them in 2010! He Quoten their Inspiration for the Babymetal Song Line. In fact Yui mimicked like she could growl like Kevin. And it is an irony that Yuis replacement Momo shared in this song Growls with Kevin.
I'm surprised people are surprised by this collab. To me, this was inevitable. Both bands are like two sides of the same coin, they both make metal fun... EC with their edm dance beats metal and BM with their kawaii metal. Metal can be described with many words, but only these two bands can you use Fun to describe metal. 😁😁😁😁🤘🦊🤘
I actually really see connections. I saw that they did something with Bring Me The Horizon and even that makes sense. You can see that Babymetal make decisions based on a plan.
Thanks for this wonderful reaction. I come from the Babymetal side of this collab, and love Nanowar of Steel. But Babymetal did a dance metal song in 2019 called Da Da Dance. Like a metal version of Dancing Queen by Abba, similar themes in the song though it sounds very different. I love that this video catches the playful side of Babymetal. In videos they seem so serious, but on stage they are so playful. Good times
A while back Babymetal attended an Electric Callboy concert in Boston, USA. They were so impressed they and their producer went backstage, introduced themselves and that was the birth of this collaboration. The two bands have already performed this together a number of times at various festivals. Both bands have added the song to their playlists and use backing videos to fill in which ever group is missing when done solo. The song gets huge, positive reactions whenever it is played. Thanks for this thoughtful video. In the live collabs you can see the obvious affection both bands have for each other. And yeah the world can use more of this type of truly positive energy!
Great first reaction. As I'm sure you know, this is a straight collaboration between the two bands even though it is very much in the Electric Callboy style. BABYMETAL do everything. That's one reason their collaborations all work so well, they are so versatile they can do pretty much whatever style and match up with whoever they are collaborating with. BABYMETAL mix things up even more than Electric Callboy and they are the best live entertainment of any kind that I've had the privilege to experience in person. You have seen them live for yourself now and I'm sure you must have realised there is so much more to them than 'Gimme Chocolate' which is 10 years old now and is their best known song because of the shock value - it is great fun at live shows, but it is a very long way from being their best. They are a live performance act and they need to be seen and heard live before you will know what they are really about. They pioneered their own metal sub-genre fusing metal with J-Pop hooks, melodies and aesthetics (including introducing choreographed dance to metal ... yes they did that - but not choreo as you may know it from pop acts etc, BABYMETAL's choreo is bespoke for each song, it helps with interpreting the meaning of the song or a lyric, but most importantly it involves and includes the crowd). They have gone on to mix and blend so many more styles with the metal. They are both original and unique. They have nearly 70 songs now, each one different to the last - some are good hard metal, some lean towards their pop roots, they do everything in between and they will also mix and blend in so many other musical styles and genres with the metal. Pick any live BABYMETAL song, you can't go wrong. Rather than another collaboration I will suggest two of their own more recent songs from their 2023 album and one of their older songs (it pre-dates 'Gimme Chocolate'). All performances from the concerts at PIA Arena in Yokohama in April 2023 try 'Mirror Mirror' and 'Monochrome' and the older song (and the song that wins most fan polls for favourite song) 'Megitsune'.
Thanks for this reaction, I had seen your live recording before as well. Glad you enjoyed it and this got released. Babymetal knew about Eskimo Callboy in 2011/2012 or so because they said it helped inspire the song by Babymetal: iine.
