You can actually improve your relationship with Japan enough that you can sign a non-aggression pact so they can’t attack you for a while
Pretty sure you need La Resistance as well to get the spies on diplo pressure. Might be wrong about that though.
Yeah, the only thing that you've got to worry about is quickly going to war with Shaanxi. They'll declare on them, even if Shaanxi is you're puppet and in your faction.

The only world conquest i ever completed in vanilla was as qing China. Turning the whole coast into dockyards makes China a naval superpower.

Hey stakuyi (if you're reading this)
If you rush to take "Subjugate the Warlords" focus, you basically solve most of China's economy, namely resources and some industry and military (if you can puppet them, you can use their divisions as garrison)
Fun fact: Mao had some beef with dental hygiene so even when he was younger like in his modern HOI4 portrait his teeth were probably disgusting.

Don't worry Stak, unless I did something wrong, you are right about the united front thing, I rushed the united front focus a few times on the current patch and the warlords don't join up, but going back a few patches they do, so something seems to have broken.

I like how Nationalist China in start game is basically just the US in the real world 2023.
The nationalists back then did some really shitty things like the 1938 Yellow River incident, doomed millions of people and then blamed it on the Japanese. The Japanese at that time, called Chiang Kai-Shek "The Worst Nemesis of Humanity"… The current US officials might be corrupted and inefficient, but still far better than those.

Easier way to deal with Japan is to let them take one port then encircle and destroy their units. But don't take the port itself. That way they will keep funneling troops into it with 0 org that you can wipe instantly. Works extremely well

now all you have to do is do it again, with sikyang, benefits include forming turkestan and china, drawbacks include having to conquer through the same terrain as a significantly weaker power
If you take mengukuo’s divisions at the start of the game, by requesting forces because they are your puppet, you remove I think 8 cav divisions that would otherwise be attacking you and you take basically all of their guns.

as china you should always rush to subjugate the warlords, you get a free cb or puppet from all the chinese warlord states. it also helps speed along the army XP requirement to rid yourself of the awful army debuff.
