Man, it would've been nice for them to raise the top bracket to 12.3, because the F-5E being a speedbag for the Mig-29/F-16, is not exactly a great time
I wont argue the F-5E is outclassed but you definitely can win a dogfight. It just depends on them making a mistake. Much better off then the F-4E imo. If I had to pick an 11.0 to dogfight in I wouldn't take much else over the F-5E other then the J-7E.
@@spray916 That's the thing though. The F-5 can hold its own in a dogfight, but its getting to the fight that's the problem. It's not fast enough to catch almost anything that's paying attention, and the radar missiles it faces keep it away from the merge. So if it can't actually get to the dogfight, what sense does it make for it to fight Mig-29's and other 4th gens?
Yeah. The 3rd gens need to get their own BR back. I stray away from the phantom, and the F-5E now because of their BR. It sucks because those were my favorite planes to fly before the tomcat came out.
@@aviatorlewski9310 I managed to get reasonable success with the F-5 before they changed the map size. But now its basically impossible to get to someone who does not want to be caught.
@@sicsempertyrannis6541 well thats a bit of an unfair assessment considering you were relying on people distracted in a furball instead of an actual fight, and with bigger maps it helps people maintain situational awareness
the Mig 29's after burner is half the size of the actual aircraft itself and i dont really know how to feel about that

its just that the planes we have now have short ones, look at an F-16 afterburning at night or an F-18, the afterburner is very long
you can't compare that to the afterburner of say an F-8
it's unironically even larger...
That city map being the only one small map that remained for top tier after the update.. that's interesting because maybe Gajin wants to add more maps with that style( City themed ) but bigger
there is small Spain as well
The city map is my favorite map so I would like to see a bigger version

youll notice that pretty much everyone he fires with is busy with someone else, thats the key is just launching at unsuspecting players and having good positioning for them to not see you in the first place 👍

@@MiG-23_enthusiast the f-16 flight model got nerfed into the ground making it a pain to fly, the mig-29 currently has the craziest missiles and flight model making it currently the best plane ATM. A patch or two ago top tier was a 50/50 USA or Russia almost every game but currently USA teams are getting smacked and lose every single time, it's almost just about a 100/0 in favor of teams with the mig-29 right now.
@@MiG-23_enthusiast another huge thing I remembered from watching this vid is the mig 29 on full afterburner just has to pop a single flare and it defeats the missile while almost every other single plane has to significantly cut throttle down to 50 or so and pop multiple flares to have a slight hope that the missile will miss.

Shame this game has to be so wallet worrier now. You can’t even reasonably grind or get new vehicles without seeking your soul or paying $140 every update to try the new things just to be stomped out by a different nations beat top tier that’s seemingly the most OP thing.
These premiums attract a lot of new people or those who have no interest in props or early gen jets. With that being said they make grinding easier for those who have a little know how 😂
Most top tier premiums are inferior to tech tree top tier jets. The top tier meta is just not fun because of the inherent nature of missile dependent combat. Low tier jets and props from like 2-4 br can be lots of fun

Top tier is a joke, 16 v 16 is the same terrible gameplay we got with small maps. 1 step fowards with big maps 5 steps back making it 16v16.

Whats your opinion on the F-105D
I've been suffering with this thing for "easy rp" but in reality its hell. No flares, semi decent missiles, guns are good, turns slow, accels decent and has a good payload but I believe some jets are not meant for Air RB.. It would be a fantastic Ground RB support plane. The fact it doesn't get flares makes it get shot down instantly by Su25's with their R60's. If you climb, usually you might get a base but then you merge back with the su25s and its pain
i want the mig 29 so bad but i know i won't get it before it inevitably gets nerfed as i'm not even up to tech tier jets

Great question! I'm on Xbox too. There's not nearly enough buttons on controller. Series s/x allows keyboard and mouse which allows wasd backup. Mouse pointer control is main.Also qe rudder.

How'd you do that thing where you pointed at what you wanted your radar to lock
The Mig29 and some F4’s have a helmet mounted display that you can use to lock missiles with
Now is linda boring, go slugging for kms and kms to your left, break radar lock, turn right, bomb a base with luck, flare chaff for your life and still get hit, die and or kill distracted opponents, repeat until you unlock radar missiles then, go up, try to lock, fire radar missile and fail, get shit down instead and repeat. Gaijin can do alternative objetives like in the BIG BIG maps, is just win by killing each others or wait the opponents to J out, what is the point yo add bases and ground targets, also why only like 5 ai jets, add a bunch at least they could use as bait and radar spam could be less effrctive
most of these kills could have been avoided if people just payed attention to much tunnel vision even at high tier

yes because 1kg of explosive + fragments vs a jet should only do some light damage
In combo with what they have on board their jet, and fuel... His own explosive, plus theirs and the fuel would for sure fireball most when hit DEAD on. He has GOOD hits usually, if they turned at all it might change the damage scale alot
Also AAMs have a "ring" of metal that exapnds out when they blow up, basically adding a kinetic energy element that is designed to cut into the engine/fuselage and make the plane unflyable

Disregarding the state of war thunder, I’m pretty sure player count is at an all time high unless I’m misremembering. War thunder is gonna be around for awhile.
A shame bc of the state of it all. Like there’s obviously fun to be had here but sm is holding back the core gameplay. U def make the game look fun regardless of how boring point-and-press-button is.
After rank 4 it basically becomes a paid game with the amount of premium time and vehicles you need to reasonably grind

love those unrealistic G's and speeds those R27's can pull after coming off the rail not .2 seconds earlier. plus love the fact that for whatever reason, the f16 is limited to 8G pulls at anything over 600mph.. meanwhile the mig29 is literally going mach 1, full afterburn and pulling 11G's and doubling back to pull -11G's while still in full afterburn pulling over mach 1 speeds. everyone here do me a favor and just take a look at the stats of the R27ER compared to ANY OTHER MISSILE in the game. tell me what is fair about that? or the fact that the mig 29 is the R-16 variant... a much later variant than their early mig29's... meanwhile the F16 in the game is the earliest variant, CHINA actually gets a later variant of the F16 than the US currently has in war thunder.. tell me how tf that makes sense, oh and china never got the F16, taiwan did... and they are literally an enemy of china but since taiwan isnt in the game, they just haaaad to give it to china. To be fair, the US f16 should have been the block 52 so we can compete. however, it isnt.
cool game, totally not biased at all in any way what so ever. not even the fact that the f14 after being in for months now, still cant lock multiple targets in TWS which is literally what the TWS radar was designed for.. to lock multiple targets in a "soft" lock, as to not ping any RWR's, so the enemy is unaware of the missiles being fired at them. it was designed to soft lock multiple targets, feed your phoenixes with information so the radar built inside the phoenix doesnt hard lock the enemy and let them know they have a missile coming towards them. as long as you stay soft locked in TWS, they will have no idea until the missile simply hits them. which that part works in war thunder, but the whole *multiple* targets being soft locked doesnt. hm wonder why they wont give US planes ALL of their features they had but they WILL give russian planes all of the features they had, as well as giving russia the later variants of their aircraft, meanwhile the only country at the time who could compete (the US) gets shafted by ONLY getting the EARLY variants of their aircraft.
totally fair guys, no bias at all. you want to see how *ACTUAL* US aircraft handled compared to the same era of Russian aircraft, with all of the intended features? play DCS. it will show you how much of a joke gaijin/war thunder is.
Yeah, I play DCS and it kind of ruins top tier war thunder. Ironically I mostly fly redfor aircraft in DCS and im like BR 10.0 with america. Seeing this gameplay makes me not want to bother lol. It's also just unlucky that Russian weapons happen to perfectly fit into war thunder's fast paced close range gameplay. F16s and F14s should be slinging missiles from high altitude and miles and miles away but it doesnt look like that ever happens.

I don't really love tip tier but I got really lucky and got the mig 29 and the f16 skins out of the esports box and they are both so sexy that it's forcing me to play top tier. The mig 29s esports skin the the second best in the game besides the mirage 2000cs retorwave skin imo.

1 way you could improve your game play is by not being so jumpy. Lets take 8:05 for an example. You decided to lose all your speed as you saw a new contact on the mini map apear quite far out with no radar lock. since the F4 had turned away from them you could of followed and dropped some flares to be safe instead of doing a spin killing your speed and any chance of killing the F-4
