It looked to me in the Zagreb game like the Tuchel had lost the locker room. No offense to the Croatian minnows, but they are among the 3 worst teams in the competition. Pitch was fine, and Chelsea even got Kovacic back. Chelsea should have won that game confortably even after the early set back goal. But Chelsea looked devoid of ideas and confidence going forward.

Football is more than just tactics, it's about people, humans, everything just seemed so tense between everyone for both the staff and the player's, heck if I was Tuchel, I would've resigned much sooner, there's just no way around the results and the dressing room, once those are gone, so are you.

The Thing is there us a lot of speculation that he has lost the changingroom but there is hardly any proof. And I actually doubt that this is the case. I mean we ar talking about a man who managed psgs changingroom sucessfully. He is probably the only persion in the world who managed to make Neymar work for the defens. (At psg he was sacked because of persional issues with the bosses and not because he lost connection to the players). I think he is just a pain to work with and the new bosses didn‘t like that and it hurt their ego so they fired him. And honestly I think that will have a longterm negative effect for chelsea.

Unimpressed with Boehly and Co so far. Transfer window was totally mishandled, helped destabilize the squad. Got rid of upper management without replacing it. Sloppy work.
It did seem like Tuchel had lost the dressing room, and had done so for a while. Given the circumstances at the club, though, he did well and will be missed.

    • @markvargus6519
      @markvargus6519 2 года назад +17

I suspect that the upper management situation is a shift in the structure. Todd Boehly has a background where he owns several American sports clubs (LA Dodgers, LA Lakers, LA Spark, Cloud9). Once he purchased Chelsea and got a look at the structure he probably wanted to change it to something closer if not identical to what has worked for the LA Dodgers- MLB (been in the playoffs every year since 2013, 3 world series appearances and 1 win in the last 7 years) and the LA Lakers (one of the most recognized and valuable teams in the NBA).
So there will be new people replacing those lost, but probably with different titles. Honestly, while its not ideal that its taking time to refill those positions, its completely understandable and from the viewpoint of an American who has watched a lot of team turmoil over the last 20 years, its not something to stress over.

Many people are saying that Chelsea regressed in recent months but when you look at the team, it overall just isn’t as good as it was before, even with the reinforcements. Most of their “expensive signings” only came in at the end of the transfer window which means they’ve barely even had a handful of games to get used to the squad, whilst important players like Mendy and Sterling are completely out of form. The midfield has lost Kante to injury which means there’s no real defensive midfield cover, which is why they’ve been forced to play with 5 at the back to compensate. Chelsea also missed out on nearly all of their first choice transfers, which means that the expensive signings they DID get were more out of desperation to plug holes rather than carefully planned and calculated transfers made months in advance. If Tuchel has lost the dressing room then you can’t do much about that, but Tuchel is undoubtedly a world-class manager tactically who’s about as good as Chelsea can really get right now.

How many other elite managers are available now? If it didn't work after this season then fair enough you part ways. It basically looks like they're looking long-term but haven't really done any planning for what the structure will be behind the manager. I love Potter, who doesn't, but if the owners think he can come in and be incredibly successful I think they're a bit naive. Potter is clearly a brilliant manager, but the structure behind him at Brighton is equally brilliant, they work beautifully well in tandem. Happened with Pochettino, as much as Spurs fans wanted him to stay, I don’t think it would be easy to turn back time as if it never happened.

From what’s been reported, it seems like their working relationship was also a reason why he got sacked. Tuchel preferred a more detached approach while the owners wants a manger who will engage more with them and other departments. I think Boehly wants to establish a long term and stable project so it was important to make sure they get right manager for that structure and I think Potter is perfect.
Considering how well run the Dodgers are, I think Boehly will hire the right people and establish a good structure.
They’ve only just bought the club and they were in a buffer period where they had to sack members from the old regime who had a different approach to managing a club. It’s been a little hectic and I think they’ve done alright with the signings they’ve made considering the situation.
Also worth to mention that potters back room staff is quite important to Brighton’s structure as well, particularly his recruitment analyst, Kyle Mcauley who looks to be following Potter to Chelsea.

Most of the signings chelsea needed only arrived towards the end of the window and even then they still lack some players. The squad is unbalanced, to the point it will be impressive if they can secure top 4 this season with Arsenal and Spurs improving massively and backing their managers.
Not to mention, who are you gonna replace Tuchel with? The only managers better than him are Pep, Klopp, Ancelotti. Other managers who could be available would be a downgrade.
Tuchel proved PSG wrong in sacking him after leading that lacking squad to a UCL final, he will do the same with Chelsea no doubt.

What I do agree is with all that change, it would surely take at least 10-15 games for such an overhauled squad to gel and play well. Not at all fair to judge him before he had a run with this basically new squad.

Now chelsea are stuck with a bunch of players Tuchel scouted, and yet they only gave him 6 games into the season... The final was a Rudiger masterclass with tons of blocks, it was great to watch at the time but it should have been clear to see this was not how we were going to play week in week out. After that our attack has consisted of wonder goals and a few penalties, all of this resulted in low scoring ties and us slightly being edged out in a few games.
The man city game was a shame to see really as I think we actually were not nearly as bad as we have been in recent months, however that does not mean the game was not horrendous. The loss to Juventus was spectacularly bad just after that as well. From then on despite not losing there were some worrying performances like (Zenit 3 - 3 Chelsea) (Everton 1 - 1 Chelsea) (Wolves 0 - 0 Chelsea) and even some worrying looking wins like (Chelsea 3 - 2 Leeds) and (Chelsea 2 - 1 Watford).
Over reliance on players who really dont provide enough to the team or just players who dont even want to be here like Jorginho, Azpi, ZIyech and even Lukaku made our team feel so stale with no progress forward from our champions league winning team, which was by no means a complete team.
All of this is really unfortunate as most of us dont know what is happening behind the scenes, but still I would have loved him here for at least another season to turn things around for himself and the team.

This is what people seem to overlook. I can't blame them though because the effects of the sanctions, lukaku's interview and Major injuries (e.g. Reece and Chilly) seem to have masked this. It was easier to blame the sanctions etc than it was to admit that Chelsea were regressing.

That game was very early tho. We were top in November and on a high after beating Juve. I think that’s false to point to that. Tuchel in that game was even admitted he set up the team incorrectly.

Refs again at play. If they had beaten Spurs ? They played well in that game and got cheated. Might have kicked on. Sacking him correct and that squad can do really well. He will get lots of cash and a holiday. Its a win win.

Let's be honest, Boehly spend 300 mill on what Tuchel wanted but game after game, Tuchel blamed the players & even players he has just bought. That's like being a sugar daddy simp to some girl & she complains about the gifts she asked you to buy. It's a business, you should keep your mouth shut for a wwhile until players settle down... yet, he kept blaming the players. He kept making excuses, very unprofessional. Boehly would be like "you made me spend 300 mill & now you're saying they're bad players?"

Remembering the time he had at my club (Dortmund) and the way it went down in the end, his behavior, I’m confused why Chelsea fans aren’t glad he’s gone. Phlegmatic performances and erratic behavior off the pitch, really doesn’t scream world class coach to me?

I like JJ a lot, but here he was massively unhelpful. The correspondent gave lucid and concrete explanations, with JJ constantly reverting to abstract general nonsense.
Regarding the main point: tifo could make a piece on how, statistically, changing the manager influences a top team. It seems to me that it's generally negative: it's dangerously likely that Chelsea will have a 5 year downhill from here.

What people don't seems to understand is that Boehly is a man of his words. He said he gave Tuchel full control of transfer, done. And Chelsea got great players because Tuchel were still there. But at the same time with how things went The board and Boehly doesn't see Tuchel as future since Tuchel doesn't really rate young players for example he doesn't rate Broja and bought Auba, and don't have plan for Gilmour in his team. Also the young players that just came haven't got opportunity. While the new board vision is to build for the long future and in this youngsters.

Pochettino would be a terrible signing for Chelsea. He was a huge flop in PSG and in general not a guy you would comfortably say will produce trophies. Graham Potter or even Brendan Rogers would be better even though they also isnt too familiar with winning titles. Zidane could very well be their best option if they manage to land him.

It seems to be an unpopular opinion, but I think Chelsea made the right longterm choice. Tuchel's methods clearly have some serious merit (two UEFA finals don't happen by accident). However a dropoff in performances, player discord, and tactical rigidity seem to be hallmarks of Tuchel's management. I think his approach has a short shelf-life. I'm slightly surprised that Chelsea have been quite so ruthless, but I was skeptical that Chelsea would do better than 6th if Tuchel saw out the season.

    - If they sacked him because of Dinamo, that is stupid. Everyone can lose in the UCL, Real lost to Sherif and won the tournament after that.
    - If they sacked him because the team was going down since the later half of the last season and was mismanaged, why wait for the summer to be gone? Was it because Boehly went to the club to late in the summer?
    - Is it because Tuchel and the new boss don't get along? That I can understand, Tuchel was fired in Dortmund after he won the cup there. But how about instead of getting rid of Tuchel, hire a new sports director or something? Tuchel would be happier, Boehly wouldn't have to deal with him, everything is fine.
I'm not saying Tuchel is perfect, but it is just odd.

Liam there at the end really overthinking Graham Potter's potential reluctance there. This is a massive opportunity at a well funded, established CL club. Potter hasn't solidified his status as an elite coach yet, one bad season at Brighton and he sets himself back maybe 5-10 years for another chance to step up to this level again. He'd have to step up to a mid sized Europa type club, hope everything goes perfect for a few years, then have to wait again for one of the elite clubs to have an opening, and hope they dont take a sexy name manager over him. If he doesn't take this chance right here right now for the reasons you stated, thats grounds for a sectioning.

    • @newrecruit100
      @newrecruit100 2 года назад +1

Disagree. Brighton are here to stay. They’re solidified premier league club. Well run and have a structure in place. You wont find many clubs like that. It’s a big risk. You got an owner who has been scattershot ever since he stepped into the door, doesn’t even have a DOF in place, doesn’t have real football people to liaise with. The performances on the pitch are beyond the manager.

As a Chelsea fan I believe that before any new manager is appointed a sporting director needs to be hired. Then they can guide the club in the right direction so we can properly build something.
