    Ok. My biggest concern about the ideal of purchasing one of these was the room. I'm a big guy. 350#'s 6' tall. When the salesman told me to get in the drivers side, I got scared and embarrassed thinking I wasn't going to fit. So, i adjusted the seat all the way back and down as far as it would go. I got in and was shocked to find that I had to stretch to reach the pedals. So the seat is set at about 60% back and up about an inch or so and thanks to the telescoping steering wheel I had to pull it towards me about half way. My dad had the 2012 explorer and I am way more comfortable in this than the explorer, more leg room and hip room. My 17 year old sits behind me and she has plenty of leg room and the back seats recline a bit too which my kids love. The cargo area isn't huge but bigger than a lot of other smaller SUV's i've seen. I fit a lot back there last time I went shopping..So it's a lot bigger than it looks. It drives great, very comfortable. The options ours came w/ are really nice. Everything is easily accessible. I can't say anything negative about it yet..

      must not have a lot of experience with vehicles these days my man. Only shit you aint fitting in is compact segment and CUVs and yea the older model explorers are shit too. These escape for the segment there in has excellent room in cabin im 7' 330lb and fit great even with my 6'1 son behind me which most people think is actually insane for this size suv.

    Good full review! I recently purchased the SE in the technology package, which includes the blind spot monitoring and cross traffic alert. It also has rear parking sensors and the touchscreen radio. Well worth the upgrade in my opinion.

    Hi Mike: Thank you for doing such a good job showing us the 2017 Ford Escape SE. I crashed my really nice 2007 Hyundai Sonata with 21,000 miles on it into an irrigation ditch a month ago. Since the Hyundai was totaled and I cracked my sternum and a few ribs when the airbags didn't deploy, I went on cargurus.com and looked for a nice used car with low mileage after I could finally sit up. I found a 2017 Escape with 1,700-plus miles on it from a local and well-known dealer. The family who originally bought the car decided they needed something larger so I was given an excellent price. Needless to say, getting into the car and driving it around is still frightening for me and your video helped quite a bit. I still can't figure out all the bells and whistles and the manual has 499 pages -- I can't even reset the clock yet... I appreciate the effort you went to in order to make an excellent video. Thanks again, Diane (from Idaho)

    I just purchased my wife the same model, it is just the FWD. We love it. The stop and start to us a little getting used to. The great thing is you can shut it off. I'm a little surprise the gas mileage isn't much better than my Ecoboost 2.3 4cylinder Mustang. I do have dealer install auto start which is great. Love your video.

    You gave a good review but I think the road test was a little long. Also, I would invest in a stabilizing system for your camera for the exterior shots (even if it's pretty cheap).
    You can turn off the auto start and stop via a push button but you have to do it every time you start the vehicle.
    For anyone contemplating packages, the 201A package (with Sync 3) is really worth the price.
    * BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-traffic Alert
    * Halogen projector headlamps with LED Signature Lighting - the LED daytime lighting really stands out and is looks very nice. I wish the fog lights were Halogen though.
    * Nine (9) speakers
    * One-touch/down front/rear window
    * Power converter 110V outlet (this is located at the rear of the center console facing the back seat)
    * Reverse Sensing System
    * Black roof rack side rails
    * SYNC® 3 - such a nice system that can also do apple car play (thought your phone has to be tethered)
    * SYNC® Connect - is included for 5 years and a main feature is it allows you to unlock/lock/start/stop your vehicle from your phone. Also has GPS location tracking where you can see the vehicle location from your phone.
    My initial impressions of the 1.5L are quite good. It has plenty of power IMO. We'll see if fuel economy is there.

      Yeah me too.. I test drove a Transit 250, which is pretty much the next size up as far as these things go, and I LOVED it. Needs to be a V6 though, given the fact it's so heavy.

Way more room inside than one would think. Lots of pick up and go, lots of fun and comfortable to drive. cant' say enough good things right now

    Million-dollar question is, being that you own an older Escape, is this the car that you'd open your wallet for to make you let go of the old one and into this new one. I appreciate the level of detail you put into your videos. My only recommendation is to break it up a bit or note in your video "Dash layout," "Exterior view," "Test Drive," or "Final Impressions." I'll be honest I had to skip some bits to just to get to the part of what do you feel. The amount of detail is like when I talk about why something when bad with a computer when the owner just wants to know if you fixed it or not.

    As a person who lives and works in the NYC area and who deals with NYC traffic on a daily basis, auto stop-start sounds pretty scary to me. There is a lot of stop and go traffic in NYC and having the computer keep shutting the engine down and starting it back up, only to have it shut down again 10 seconds later seems like a lot of wear and tear on the system. I'd have it disabled.

    • @sefton733
      @sefton733 8 лет назад +2

      I understand that it can be disabled but that you have to manually disable it everytime you take it out. Ford should design it so that it either stays on or off based on the drivers choice.

      The 1.5 has just over 170hp. I just bought one. I don't feel like it's underpowered at all and I had 3 full grown adults in it when I test drove it. I didn't take it on the highway, but it did fine up hills and in the city. This 1.5 is new for this year. It is replacing the 1.6 liter from the previous year. I think you're confusing this engine with the older 1.6. What I personally found surprising, is that my 2016 Mustang GT with a 5.0 V8 gets better fuel economy than this thing. I average 12.4 miles per gallon in my Mustang and 12.1 miles per gallon in my new Escape.
