Just thinking out loud really my thoughts and showing my Journey.

I sold my stack in 2010 to buy mortgage free property- haven't looked back and continue to invest in coins. Your cost of living goes way down when you don't have a mortgage...
Only regret is my collection of Early Cents were in there and the cost of those has skyrocketed- I'm slowly trying to reaquire those type coins.

I think you made the right decision there to be mortgage free and live a freedom-ish life style 👍

I was very busy paying off the mortgage before I started stacking Silver. I love my Silver but as an investment its been a harsh task master and still underwater on most of it even after 7 years. BUT....I still believe it will prove to be a prudent decision so its a long term thing. However, I wish I had started buying Gold in greater quantities and not so much on Silver back in 2016. Gold has certainly proved to be a good savings plan/retirement fund or a very nice redundancy pay out if things turn bad in next couple of years!!

I try and do a little of both, try and overpay on the mortgage while stacking along the way 😄

I was paying my mortgage and stacking silver at the same time. Now that Ive retired and paid off my mortgage, Im still stacking. Being on a fixed income has made it tougher to stack a lot.

At least your mortgage is paid off. Even better if you can stack whiles being retired too. 👍 tbf anytime you can stack is a good time right? Being mortgage free and stack is even better times 😁

Clearing debt should generally be your main priority. I can’t wait to clear my mortgage but at the moment if I overpay any more than 10% the penalty is charged at a higher rate than my interest rate. I will overpay the maximum every year until 2026 when my term runs out then hopefully clear what’s left penalty free.

Yeah I think most mortgages are the same, I did plan on paying it all off within X number of years when I took it on but then I wanted to enjoy life after overpaying max amount for few years but have been thinking about restarting overpay again. 😆 doing it backwards because interest rate rising for savers hahaha

I have a small house, with no mortgage. I would like to upgrade someday, which is one of the reasons that I stack metals, saving for a better house. The nice thing is that if I have unexpected expenses, I can skip a month or two of stacking. I hate having debt which is required to pay every month

Yeah I think it all comes down to the individual, if you are happy with the small house with no mortgage then that is great. Sounds like freedom to me 👍Everyone wants a upgrade but it comes with a cost. Thanks for stopping by, appreciate it.

I think there's a value to being mortgage free on your personal home in the non monetary sense. Whilst mathematically it can make sense to have mortgages it depends what return you are able to generate on the cash otherwise.

Indeed, if you don't want stress with a mortgage and are happy with simple life then there's always value in that. Using a mortgage to generate more cash at the end game is also value but its not so much of a simple life 🤣
