    The movement at the tip of the tail when you're walking around is insane, it looks so natural!! I don't know if it'll work *this* good on a shorter tail but I'm definitely going to try this technique. The entire look is wonderful btw!

      Thank you so much! 🥹 I hope your tail moves how you want! And fingers crossed it works on a shorter one! With the right spacing / sizing it *should* in theory! I’ve got all my fingers crossed for you! ☺️🫶🏼

    I don't have a sewing machine, also don't know how to use it, glad to see I actually have the option of using hand sewn

      Yes absolutely! I hand sewed so many of my costumes for quite some time! My only recommendation for hand sewing to just use a slightly stronger cotton 😁
      Sewing machines can definitely get pricey and are out of reach for so many people, and they’re definitely a learning curve!

      You can make near anything hand sewn that you can with a machine! It just may take you a bit longer then someone with a machine! :)

      Thank you! I love how simple it is too, with basic materials! Definitely going to try this method with Mollymauk’s tail! And Ahri’s lol 🤞🤞

    Very cool! This tail seems to move just like I want it for mine. I think I'll try this method!

    “I don’t see why this wouldn’t work too for a DND teifling…..like Mollymauk, or Kingsley…….”
    Me, that being exactly why I’m here: *heavy breathing*

      If it works please let me know! I plan on using the same method for an Ahri Fox tail, and still plan on doing it for Molly/Kingsley when I finally decide to tackle *that* coat 😂

      @@tiffanydeancosplay Will do! Started today, already going so well. One issue that I’d love your thoughts on; got any ideas on how to avoid the segmentation being visible without scales or other coverings? I was thinking possibly stuffing or similar, but there really isn’t much I can think of that wouldn’t limit the movement. Did you have any ideas regarding yours?

    • @tiffanydeancosplay
      @tiffanydeancosplay  Год назад +1

      I couldn’t think of a workaround for this yet either! The covering needs to be loose enough for the movement but it does mean it folds into each space. Maybe weights to help it swing might mean a covering could be a bit tighter or thicker. Could be worth checking out Stan Winston and his work on the Jurassic Park puppets / suits. I’m fairly sure they used latex over foam which would still restrict movement (and raptor tails don’t need the swing a tiefling tail might lol), but the basic skeleton method they did might shed light on more ideas even if it’s somewhat similar ☺️

    What were the measurements in each segment

    • @tiffanydeancosplay
      @tiffanydeancosplay  8 месяцев назад +2

      Good question! I actually just eyeballed it and didn’t measure them 😅 But at a guess I’d say approx 10 - 12cm each (4/5 inch 100/120mm). The ones near the base of the tail would be a tad wider, and the ones nearer the top a tad narrower. That worked for my tail but with different length tails it would probably need to be different ☺️

    Hello! Sorry if you said it but i didn't really catch the name of the fabric you used for the scales, if you know could you please help?😅 im doing a bowsette too

    • @tiffanydeancosplay
      @tiffanydeancosplay  20 дней назад

      Hey! For the scales it’s a croc / snake texture faux leather / vinyl in a holographic green / copper / gold shift ☺️ It was 30cm wide rolls (I think about 2 metres long?) from AliExpress ☺️

      Do you think it would still move if I used fur instead of scales?

    • @tiffanydeancosplay
      @tiffanydeancosplay  Год назад +1

      If the fur was super loose it should do, but there would likely be some loss of movement. If the fur was cut in sections (like scales) it should still move too ☺️

    do you think i could do a tail of nightcrawler from xmen using this mechanism?

    • @tiffanydeancosplay
      @tiffanydeancosplay  7 месяцев назад

      I don’t see why not! If I ever get around to a Mollymauk cosplay, I’d be making a similar tail and I think it should work! I imagine it’d be like those little articulated toy snakes that were popular with kids! The ‘skin’ would just need enough give to still allow movement ☺️
