- Full cover of TTNG's track "Gibbon" off their album Animals. Guitar parts recorded with my Fender Standard Tele through a Line 6 Pod GX. Drum and bass parts tracked in Reason 5.

Mate the work you put into each individual part is insane! Been searching for isolated parts for so long. I make UKG tracks and take inspiration for 2step patterns from alot of TTNG/math bands, so finding this resource is incredible. Thankyou man!
Too kind! Compared to my new stuff I'm actually a little unimpressed by this one, it's got fake bass and fake sounding drums and no vocals. But I'm thrilled you like it and can get some use out of it!
Just amazing. At the beginning I thought you were playing hybrid picking with a thumb pick or else but then I realized that you just have an incredible accuracy in your fingerpicking. Just love it, i didn't think it was possible...
Man, your covers are awesome. Your tone is just always spot on, and your technique is perfectly executed. I've been trying my hand at doing TTNG covers (just done my first one), but I can barely compete with the quality and perfect tone you've put on yours - really good work, I hope I can compete up to these sometime! How do you built that awesone tone? What pedals do you use? Amp or cab simulador/recording setup in general? Sounds pretty amazing, good job man, cheers.
Thanks so much! This was recorded directly into a Pod GX with a tone built in PodFarm. Really simple chain, noise gate and compressor into a clean Fender combo sim and probably a tiny bit of reverb. Double tracked and EQ'd in my DAW.
white is the best tele color
You know what, I was actually looking for like a soft blue or green at the time but all they had in the standards was sparkly "lake placid" blue. Ended up talking myself into arctic white and have no regrets.

Thank you! When this was recorded, I was actually just using the stock set of 9s Fender ships the Mexi Standards with, nothing special at all. It works okay for this, the tuning doesn't differ enough from standard E to make me bother with a custom set.

How would you classify your Standard Tele? Also, what string gauge did you use/did you set it up specifically for that tuning or was it just changing from standard?
2015 MIM Arctic White. Bought it while I'm out of the country on exchange so almost everything is stock, save for the high E string which I had to replace. Fender ships these with .009-.042 strings - definitely light enough for this tuning, which has your 6th and 4th up a half step, everything else down a half step. It's close enough to standard that I didn't bother with a whole setup, but it could have used it.

Great cover man. I was wondering how you got that tone though? What was your process? I'm thinking about getting a Line 6 Pod GX and was wondering what the setup for it is like and maybe what DAW you use? Any tips would be very appreciated that tone is incredible along with the cover.
Thanks for listening! Really recommend the GX if you're just recording single guitar tracks, that's what I'm using here and it's all you need. In this case I'm using the Pod Farm software that's bundled with it to model, no other pedals or effects. It's a noise gate, compressor, a Fender Twin clean amp dupe, and maybe a tiny bit of reverb (that's all these mathy tones ever are, clean channel+lots of compression). Then I'm double-tracking it in Ableton Live with an EQ on each to make it sparkle and get rid of any remaining muddiness. You can place an EQ in your chain in Pod Farm too but it's less precise than an 8-band graphic EQ for mixing.
If you do end up getting a GX and Pod Farm, let me know and I'll drop you a link to a tone file. I don't think I have this exact one saved anymore but it'll be a good starting point to tweak to your personal preference and equipment.

Amazing Cover, what gauge of strings are you using?
I'm using a stock Fender Standard Tele in this video, so it's got the factory 9s on it. Not what I'd recommend for this song, but they get the job done as it's not tuned as extremely as some other TTNG songs.

Thank you! Yeah, all the backing is by ear, guitar parts mostly from the tab book. I have the backing tracks up online (for Chinchilla and Elk as well) but not tabbed out just yet. I can shoot you a message if you're interested in the stems so you can work it out yourself!

I think I started learning TTNG songs about a month or two before this was posted, but I'd been messing around with a couple other fingerstyle songs for a long time. I'd been playing for about 10 years at this point, just something I got a feel for, no specific practice or training regimen.

I don't have the preset anymore so I don't know the specifics, but I made it in PodFarm, just a noise gate and compressor into the blackface lux.
