Oh Babs, what a beautiful video...lots of tears. and I am shocked we covered many of the same points about grieving without even knowing it! It makes me feel loss is universal but the key is how we handle it..or don't handle it. Like you say...there is no right or wrong way to grieve...not being ok..is ok.Hope - Help and Healing.....oh tonight you touched on so many things that gave me strength, awareness and a feeling I am not alone in how I feel. Susan thank you for doing this with me ! You have helped me tremendously! Grief is universal how we take it is individual! We all take it so differently yet we all feel the sick pain of the loss ! You know as I was listening to your video I thought to myself wait you did have a happy ending no matter what the consequences were before the ending your love never died and you're ending of Bills life was beautiful. It doesn't matter who wasn't there for him you were there and the love that you shared was there and that should give you such extreme comfort. It was a beautiful ending to a beautiful beginning. Thank you so much for loving my Jeff and being part of my life. I know Jeff would've absolutely adored you. @@takecontrolbeauty6402 Oh Babs, thank you so much for saying this to me and reminding me....Bill and I got it all back...the things we got to say to one another....the apologies, the declarations of love and devotion...and the memories....we had all that from 2018 to 2021. One of the last things he said to me was " You were the love of my life...will you promise me you will meet me in Heaven?" I still hear his words and I hear myself saying yes yes yes. Thank you for such a meaningful week and for helping me move through some of my grief.And thank you for being Jeff to life for me...Grazie per essere meraviglioso tu xxoo
I lost my daughter in 2019, she was 31 years old. She had a 6 month battle with cancer. Today is her birthday. I guess I will never get over her being gone.....
I lost my son July 27, 2021 of cancer 4 months after he was diagnosed. He was only 31 1/2 years old and was a passenger airbus pilot and a corporate pilot. He is the light of my life. I miss him so much. I talk to my son too and it helps me get through the day too. There are no words for this pain. I am sorry you face this pain as well.

I lost a grand nephew this last year from suicide and it is unexplainable but God guides us to hope for his grace & peace✝️

I am thankful for your story . I lost my daughter 8 years ago. She had breast cancer. She was 42 when she died. I have not felt abandoned by God, but I have given up on the church and church people. I lost my Mother 6 years ago. I talked and cried with my mother about my daughter every day. I miss her. I miss my daughter’s calls . She lived in another city. I will see my daughter and Mother again. Thank you for your words.

My mom had a stroke and thankfully she is with us, but she’s a totally different person. So, I’m grieving the loss of the mom i’ve known for 72 years and getting to know my “new mom.” And, last July 3rd, I lost my kitty who was 10 yrs old. The loss of a pet, who in my world is a family member is devastating. So, finding your channel and you now happened for a reason. Thank you Barb. I wrote you last year when you lost Jeff. I had just lost my son somewhere between cancer and suicide. I miss him so . I tried to do as he asked yet I didn't realize how close the end was. I am so glad I have his sisters, my girls, and his children and grandchildren who feel we lost him too soon and each wants to speak of him when we are together. Just today I had his 5 yo granddaughter. She remembers everything . We shared tears and memories and wished we still had him to make all things right. I can't believe how much peace she brings all of us.
I pray for you and his family. Please continue to speak of him and share his love with oneanother.

I kept trying to get over it, then a friend that lost her precious five year old and is so strong told me that she got better when she realized that you never get over it, but need to learn to live with it. I did better after changing gears. Hope this helps someone.
Ursula did u lose someone ? I think grief takes on a lot of different emotions. We go through so many different phases. We're mad , sad, then the whole what if I would haves and of coarse the WHY!!! We have to allow ourselves to go through all those emotions, and then come to the realization that they are gone physically but never gone emotionally from our heart and our mind. They've just moved upstairs in the next room. That's the way I look at my son he's just upstairs in another room. you never forget you just move thru it and you have to be here for the other people that love you and need you. Sometimes it just takes one line that somebody says to you that helps. I'll miss him every single day but he's just upstairs ! 🥰 Sending u love ❤️ ! Thank you for this comment it helped ! Barb 🙏❤️
I am so sorry that you have had to go thru losing your Son. I lost my Son 4 years ago and it has been the hardest time I have gone thru. I believe we will see them again in Heaven.
I too talk to my daughters all the time and laugh like we use to when we were together. It gives me the ability to get through the day. I sometimes for a fleeting second think she is off seeing the world, then I say she is seeing heaven.

I always thought my mother should have stopped grieving over my sister dying. She had 6 more children …. Why wasn’t she getting over this death? Then I went to a guy who was talking on grief. He was a grieving counselor and did talks everywhere on grief. Then I knew why my mother was still grieving. No one grieves the same. No one. I can understand how you are grieving. It’s your way ! I’m still grieving over my other sister that died in 2015. I loved her so much and I wasn’t ready for her to die. I still grieve over her. She and I were sooo close. I was ready to let my parents go as they expressed the readiness to do so. They were such wonderful Christian parents. They were ready. I’m so happy you shared your journey and continue to do so. Whether it's over your mother a sibling your father cousins uncle's aunts and certainly grieve so differently for your child. It's unimaginable pain that I know I will grieve forever but I have to go on for all the people who still love me! yes my heart is heavier and there is no time limit on grief I'll grieve until I meet him again! Oh Barb I don't know what to say other than you are a very strong person to make this video. I know what you mean about regrets. The day my Dad died I was with him and my mom and I was getting ready to go home and he said oh can't you stay and have diner? I said oh dad I told Bud I would be home for diner with him tonight. I no sooner got in the house and my mom called to tell me my dad had died. That was very hard for me even to today I think about that day and wish I would have stay. You are so right about telling your love ones everyday that you love them. Barb this is a wonderful tribute to your son. Thank you for introducing us to you son. I am sitting here with tears in my eyes just thinking of all you have been through. I only wish I was there to give my sweet friend a big Hug and tell you how much I Love you. I loved hearing all your thoughts. I was widowed at 64. I just wanted to tell you that your father is a Patriacrch...and your mother is a Matriarch. The way I remember it is ‘pa’ and ‘ma’. Again, so appreciate you verbalizing the feelings of grief.

I left to go to the hairdresser one morning, kissed my husband, told him I would see him later and came back home to find him dead on the floor. I will always remember this last hug and kiss. This was a life changing event, selling the house, moving , leaving the life I knew behind. I’m slowly rebuilding a life. Thank you for the video, we’re stronger than we think. Your family photos are so moving. You are the same age as my Mum but she died at 64. She was beautiful like you and always did her skin routine morning and night with Ponds Cold Cream and Oil of Ulay, like her Mother. They both had Beautiful skin. I have not taken care of myself so my skin is tired so it has been delightful to find your channel today but also to listen to you. You have something very special. You were born to help and educate its so natural when you speak. So I hope you have some lovely plans for May! Two of my kids are May as well it's a lovely month for a birthday. Susan sent me here. So sorry about your loss. Sending you prayers! I lost both parents within 5 months of each other, and then my brother in law to COVID. His death was the hardest one because he was only 58. I am still grieving their loss. I never got to say goodbye and how much I loved them.

Hi Barb, this is so brave of you to share your thoughts & feelings & grief with us this way. You are a wise woman to share your experience and I AM TRULY LISTENING TO YOUR WORDS as they are serving as a wakeup call to me & my son. He was in a serious motorcycle accident a few years ago. He suffered a traumatic brain injury, leaving him with temporary amnesia, seizures, & other psychological injuries/mood swings. It's sad to say that some family members & friends find it too difficult to deal with his ups & downs and have given up on him. He knows this about them and himself, which intensifies his depression & mood swings, and yes, he has had thoughts of suicide. Your words of encouragement & compassion give me the strength I need to keep talking to him daily and loving him unconditionally. Thank you for the light you shine in my direction.
Oh this comment is why we did this video ! I'm happy if this helps you deal with this tragedy u face ! Sometimes the only help we can offer is just an "I love you " or a big REALLY TIGHT hug ! Do what u feel in ur heart and u will have no regrets ! The ones who have turned their backs will have the regrets and that is on them ! Hello Barb. I am a new subscriber and coming over via Susan's (Little Poet's) recommendation. My heart aches for you as I know you lost your son a year ago. My sincere and heartfelt condolences to you and your family. The tribute to your son was so moving and beautiful. What a fine young man. Like you, I too lost my adult son. He passed away unexpectly two years ago from a massive heartattack. He had just turned 52. He leaves behind a wife of 25 years of marriage, a son who adored him and a brother who loved him so. Sometimes it still seems surreal but then the waves of grief bring reality to the forefront. Like Jeff, my Michael had a terrific sense of humor always making everyone laugh. He was one of my greatest gifts from God and was so kind, caring and loving. I have lost many loved ones and each so painful, but losing my son as you know is an agony that no words can adequately describe. Like you my faith in God has sustained me but I know it is something I will never get over. As a part of me died too. Life will never be the same for any of us...... I thank you again for your touching video, your inspiring words and getting to know your son Jeff. As the tears continue to fall you wonder how you can possibly go on without them. I miss my son so. His last words to me when we concluded our phone conversation the night before his passing was "I love you Mom". And mine, "I love you too darlin'." God called our sons Home, but they both left knowing they were loved. Love never dies. From one mother's heart to another's, may God bless you Barb and keep you in his care. May He bring you comfort on difficult days and strengthen you. Like the poem "Footprints in the Sand" we know in our hearts that this is a time when He is carrying us. With love and prayers, Gwen💖🙏✝️
Oh Gwen I am in tears over your beautiful comment. Yes the heartache of losing a child is devastating to say the least. It pulls at your heart strings everyday. I sometimes have to stop in my tracks and just breathe. I call his name and talk to him and it helps ease my pain at that moment. You know what My Jeff's middle name was Michael. So we are bonded. :) My grandson is having such an awful time so we have to keep strong for him. I hide tears bc I know he just can't take constant tears so we just laugh and talk good things about his amazing dad. My son did good raising him and he is very sad he will not know his future grandkid ever. You are right love never dies and without tears I guess there was no love. Jeff and I and his dad always said I love you either in a text everyday or a phone call every night. I don't think I could have gotten thru this video without Susan. We were each others strengths. Barb, thank you for your reply. Although it wasn't necessary especially with all you must be feeling, it is deeply appreciated. How ironic that Jeff's middle name was Michael. Michael was my second born also. My thoughts and prayers are with your grandson Blake. Losing your dad is so difficult. My grandson too misses his dad so. I, too tell him of humorous times when his dad was young and how his dad smiles down from Heaven at him with love and pride. Remembering you and your family with love and prayers and should you get a chance please read the poem "A Letter from Heaven". I think you may see it's a message from Jeff. I know when my cousin sent it to me when my son passed, I knew it was a message from Michael to me and his family. God Bless, Gwen

Patti I am so sorry about your husband. I almost lost my Denny in 2020 to covid. I do not know how he survived 9 days on a ventilator and 8 days in ICU but he came home. He was truly one of the lucky ones. I think the power of prayer helped. No one understood how he could have made it bc no one knew how to even treat it in 2020. I wish this Covid would just disappear ! I know what shock you are experiencing. I think the shock stays for a long time. Just keep talking to your hubby and he will answer you in some way. Trust me. I am so sorry for the loss of your son. This really touched my heart and I'm in tears. Just what I needed to hear tonight. I lost the love of my life, my husband James in August 2017 due to a fatal heart attack and became a widow at 34. Lost my dream home and I'm still trying to pick up the pieces. Then my mom passed away the following year, August 2018 and I lost my mom who I was extremely close to. I felt like you, there was no way I could live without my husband and my mother but here I am. There are many days I can't stop crying because I miss them so much but I believe you are right, they stay right with us all the time guiding our way. I, too talk to my husband and mother all the time because it definitely helps you get through the day. My dad had a grain stroke and passed when I was only 26 so at 39 both my parents and husband have wings and watch over me from up above. Thank you for sharing your heart. Love your channel ❤️
No one prepares us for these tragedies in life! We were never given a book on dealing with grief at birth then it happens and bam we are forced to gather up all our strength and call upon our faith to get us thru ! Talking to your loved ones thinking of all the good memories helps in each passing day ! Sometimes I reach out my hand in hopes I feel them touch it but they don't ! Then maybe an hr later I get a sign ever so small but I do and it makes me feel they are here! Keep talking to them as I do and u will get thru one day at a time ! Very sorry for ur losses! You know I normally have something funny to say to make you laugh in my comments, but I want to say a couple of serious things on this topic. This will be a too-long comment because like you, my friend, I have a terrible time being brief. lol At 65, I've experienced losses and you are so right about making every attempt to avoid having avoidable regrets. When my dad died in 2013, the thing that helped me most to get through it was knowing we had no unfinished business between us. We both knew we loved each other without a doubt. The best advice I ever received about dealing with a loss what to give yourself permission to let go of the grief while holding on tightly to the memories. The other thing I've learned is that pain serves a purpose in our lives. My son-in-law once said to me that he didn't understand why good people often had terrible things happen to them. Without thinking, I answered "It's the only way we gain our humanity." Without suffering, we never truly learn compassion or empathy. We may know of them as concepts, but we don't feel them until we've experienced tough times ourselves. I think of it as feeding our souls. It's the one part of aging I don't mind. My face may have more wrinkles and my joints may creak, but my soul is looking better the older I get.

When you said you talk with your son, that is the same with me l talk to my niece and nephew who died 13yrs ago when l was going through cancer, but l talk to them while l am having a shower it gives me so much peace. I have been dealing with grief for several years as I have lost both my adult sons to parental alienation. The emptiness in my heart will never go away knowing they choose not to speak to me. It's as if they are passed 😪

He is doing well in a second marriage and his work. Losing him would be horrible. My son name also is Jeff so I was touched by the video. I have lost family members and suffered grief . Thank you for watching and meeting my son ! Losing a child is so painful ! All our kids moved out of State but our one daughter ! She stayed near us and I am so grateful because I got to help praise her too beautiful children. Because my kids moved out of state i never really got to know the grandkids as well as I would've liked so I'm grateful to have my daughters children living close and coming over a lot. It really helped take my mind off my grief and gave me something to do and to enjoy. I had to be strong for them and the people who still need and love me. My boys call me a lot and my Jeff called me every night and we FaceTime too! I lost my wife in 2011. It is a tough thing to endure. She was so important in my life. I kept my head. Thankfully I have a great daughter who gave me two wonderful grandchildren!
I’m sorry to hear about the loss of your wife! Even though it’s been 12 years I’m sure you miss her in your heart ! We are a tight family and I too have a beautiful wonderful daughter who is a social worker and she uses all her skills on me! But the loss of my son is something very different and I am still grieving.

Oh Barb, I know that video was so hard to make. Thank you for sharing your grief and letting us get to know your family. I'm a widow so I agreed with so many things you said. I still wake up in the morning and reach over to pat my husband's hand or shoulder. Then I remember, once again, he's gone. It's been almost 3 years and this happens every single morning. I tell my loved ones that every day I live, I'm one day closer to seeing him.

Barb, what a wonderful & courageous tribute to your son. I've never lost a child. But i did lose my wife recently to cancer. From my loss, i realize until someone walks in the same shoes, they can never truly know the loss one feels, nor are there any words that can help.

I am new here ...full of regrets but a little acceptance after 20yrs.my 3rd son died by suicide 3mths after my husband left us after a 28yr marriage ...even now i am suffering the loss and my adult children are still grieving and do the best i /they can but it is a lonely walk ...our family is fragmented now ...we havent had a get.together for years and yrs ... i pray before i die i will see my children in one place with me ...but it maynot happen ...i am lonely but accepting and trusting in God to help us thru ...he was only 22 ...i didnt know my ex was an abuser at the time ...how embaressing ....no one wd hve believed me ...but i am nearly 75 and have good support at the moment .. so am grateful ..Bless you and yr hubby .
Oh Josie I am beyond sorry for you ! The loss of a child is so painful! My life will never be like it was ! I do have support and God ! Without my faith I don't know what I'd do! I talk to my son every day and that really helps me think that he's here. He also lived in another state so sometimes I just pretend that he's there living his life and he really isn't gone. I think when your children get older they go their separate ways and it's hard to get everybody together! even when my son was alive he was in Nashville my other sons family is in Arizona and of course my daughter and family are here with me but we never got together as a family until my sons funeral and then everybody was together. That was a terrible way for the family to be together but at least we came together in the time of crisis. I guess we just take one day at a time and move one step thru the day. I don't think we ever move forward we just move thru life and enjoy our every day that God gives us. I have a prayer group at 10 AM every morning I will add you to our prayer group. Hi Barb I just happened to come across your station when I was feeling the most sadness that I have felt in the last 3 years. I am 69 your old woman with the most wonderful husband and for children. In the last 3 years I had lost a grandson to gun violence at the age of 20 and his beautiful mom my daughter 49 years old and my mom who we were lucky enough to have for 83 years I must thank you and my little poet Susan for sharing your story on your lost loved ones. You have no idea how much your stories have helped me and give met some new tools to get through my everyday life. I am truly grateful for what I do have and I hope you also find peace and happiness bless you both and thank you again so very much.❤

When u lose someone you love it's such a sharp pain in ur heart ! You never move forward we just move thru life and pick up pieces of joy a long the way ! Maybe the joy will be a happy memory maybe it will be support from a family member who need us and love us ! I find joy in various places especially my grandkids! Hi Barb, what a lovely video, Susan shared your inspiring story, and I just wanted to thank both of you for sharing so openly about your grief. I am a 60 year old mom of three. Lost my Dad 2 years ago and my brother 3 years ago. Was able to be with them both in last moments, and say goodbye. I handled grief in a surprising way, I was furious for a year, wow didn't know I had that much anger, but it changed, I stopped screaming, and now more peaceful, now I'm really sentimental, and keep their pictures out and talk about them all the time. I am so grateful for having two great men in my life.
Oh Vickie I'm sorry for ur losses too! Lots of stages to go thru with grieving and Anger is right up high on the list ! It's a normal grief ! Believe me I was angry too ! I am so very sorry….I lost my adult son 2 years ago this April….I am not sure how I have survived. My other children and grandkids keep me going. My son had brain cancer as a child and the effects of all the radiation and surgeries did him in years later. Sending much love. Happy I found your channel.
Hi Susan ! Thank you for your condolences! I am sorry about your son also ! Sounds like he had a good life even after his diagnosis of brain cancer at such an early age ! May he rest in Gods arms happy and pain free 🙏 No mother should have to lose a child ! It's so painful ! I am going on also for my husband of almost 50 years and my other children and my grandchildren who fill my every days with new and beautiful memories! Thanks for coming over ! You know there is no good answer for how to go on after u lose a child ! Everyone is so different but I can tell you there is no time limit on our grieving! some days I am good and then other days I'm not. I just surround myself with people who understand my grief and who love me and need me and I try to stay focused on that. But when those days of sadness overpower me my family is supportive but they also want me to snap out of it Not only for my own health concerns but my son would not have wanted me to be a hysterical mom I know him. I figure my job here is to spread the word of the kind of man that he was. If I have to stand on a rooftop and shout it out I will because I owe it to him to let everybody know him how he was how he loved how his personality was. Just like this video I introduced him to all my subscribers and it was my pleasure for everyone to meet him ! So he will live on through me forever as long as I'm here and hopefully the ones that I tell his story too will pass it on even longer. I talk to him every day and it helps me! there's no grief quite like the loss of a child. But you're not alone there's so many of us out there who are feeling the same pain . Each step you take will get a little lighter promise ! U may not move forward as well as u think because your heart is heavy but you will move through it because through it we must. We must always hug our kids and grandchildren bc we just never know ! I'm so blessed to have made the trip to Nashville the week bf he passed ! It was this spontaneous trip I think God planned ! I stayed a week and we were suppose to only stay a few days but he didn't want us to leave ! Had I known the next week he was gone I would have never left ! Strangely enough only a year before my daughter n I were saying how can anyone live after losing a child. Then a year later my granddaughter and my daughters child 9yr old Summer Alexandra was diagnosed with an incurable brain tumour, we had to watch her go through painful procedures radiotherapy etc knowing it wasn’t going to help her and hear her asking if she was going to die for ‘ months,. I saw her every day, took her to tap n ballet classes, lived in a bungalow in my daughters garden so was very close.
I howled and made animal noises when I was told of her diagnosis and the 8 months was the hardest thing I’ve ever done trying to be brave n not cry,. I didn’t die as I thought I would I am still here, 3 yrs later and I can’t get over it. Then while I am still down on my uppers my 56 yr old sister died, I feel like I can’t breath. I am so sorry for your loss and I really do know how you feel xxx❤️💔💔 I came over from Susan
It is just amazing to me how we manage to survive such grief. I would never have imagined to be as remotely strong as I am. Oh I still die inside and I still cry but I go on.. I have to for my son. The thing with your beautiful Summer is what a blessing you were there with her all the way thru. That has got to make you feel very special and her looking down on you saying thank you I knew you were there and that you loved me, has to make you feel wonderful! You got a chance in a lifetime to me near her even though the ending wasn't as planned you were planned, you were there. Remember no regrets you have no regrets over that. I am also sorry about your sister passing so young. Life just is not what we expect it to be is it. So many twists and turns and disasters in our life's journey we have to manage in our life time and grieve. Tears turn to puddles but without tears there is no love. Dear Barb, you covered this subject with so much wisdom and compassion. I’ve lost my young beautiful husband at 36 to cancer, then my in-laws, my dad, my precious brother. I instinctively and by experience, know the truth of your words and that they lead to better days. Day by day to better days! Jeff looks like an amazing man. It’s like you said, he left footprints on many hearts. You honor him beautifully Barb! Sometimes I think that Heaven isn’t some faraway place, rather it’s a breath away from us. Hi grandma mint so good to have you here I was worried about you. Thank you for watching and meeting my amazing son. This was probably one of the hardest videos I have ever done but with Susan's help we got thru this together bc we thought it would really help others deal with their grief. My Jeff was an amazing man, husband, father, son and brother and friend to many. I am sad bc as a mom I could not help him and his mental health was covering up the wonderful person he was. sorry about the great loss of your son. i know he is living in heaven. i lost my only child, my son who was 16 from an illness we did not know he had. shock. been years, i never got over it. still depressed &sad & just wait for the day i will be with him again.

Oh gosh, Barb, this was a wonderful post. I am sure you have helped many people with it. Thank God you have no regrets and only good memories of Jeff. You have such a healthy attitude about grieving and it is so important to let it out! When people repress their grief they get sick. Grief turned inward really harms the physical body as well as your mental and emotional bodies. I kept it together listening to you (pretty much) but when I saw the pics at the end, I lost it and the tears flowed. That Jeff was such a character and his personality really came through in those photos. What a loss - but heavens gain/ I know he walks beside you still. I am writing you a separate email. Barb you are such an inspiration to us all. I can feel the love between your Son and You. You inspire me as I lost my grandson to shaken baby syndrome, he was 3 1/2 months old. Oh Diane what a beautiful comment. You have an amazing family. I also had a granddaughter who passed away at 5 months old. That was tough to go thru. She would be 30 now and we still miss her. She had a rough 5 months so we are happy God took her and made her whole again and no more suffering . I always just picture this play area in heaven for all the children that God has taken to make whole again and they are just having fun. That makes me feel better like knowing my son is at peace and happy makes me feel better. He was an amazing son, father, uncle, brother and husband. I have lost a newborn son many years ago, an older sister 10 years ago, my parents, in-laws, and five years ago my beloved husband. Right now I’m grieving the loss of a cherished job. Its hard to believe that Aug 4th it will be one year since I heard his voice. He sure knew he was loved I just wish he loved himself as much as we all loved him. Mental Health has no face for sure. I believe that so completely; I think you know it to be true also. I lost my husband four years ago and my faith has grown only stronger and I am at peace because I truly know I will be with him again. I can tell that this faith is helping you to heal also.

Today is the one year anniversary of his passing and we are all dealing with this so differently! He was an amazing middle child kid ! He was the prime example of a middle child :) He gave me a run for my money so they say ! He apologized to me for years saying oh mom I'm sorry for being that middle child mom but you did such a good job with me you were so patient with me ! He would say mom if it wasn't for you being so tough on me I would be in jail. Lol we laughed about it almost up until the end really. I'm so glad I went to see him when I did ! You know no parent should bury their child it's not the order of things! God is with me and I have trust in him To carry me through and you know that we will meet again one day ! My husband passed away in 2021 snd my mom this past Dec. I just haven't been able to do anything. I have so much to do. Thanks for your video it is very encouraging.

I am so sorry for your loss of so many close family in such a short time. You are one strong lady!!! Its never a good time for the ones we love to leave. I find that in the beginning of a loss I carry on in their name and know that they would want me to carry on. One step at a time. Best.
